1. This is a very basic Diabetes flash course but hopefully will cover most important aspects of diabetes epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, management, prevention of complications and their basic care.

2. It is just a start that will continue through UEDS frequent meetings, seminars and UEDA website www.uedaegypt.org .

B. CDA “Canadian Diabetes Association” 2013

C. ADA “American Diabetes Association” 2016

D. Australian G. P. Management of type 2 Diabetes 2014–15

E. IDF/ISPAD Guideline for Diabetes in Childhood & Adolescence 2011

N. B.1- In the course we will use the letters A, B…etc to refer to the above mentioned Resources.

7. You will have a copy of all presentations printed for your future reference.

8. Also you will have some appendices such as :-A. A complete list of medicines used for Diabetes in the

Egyptian market with their details.B. A Summary for each Active Principle regarding

Indications, contraindications, side effects and dosing based on the BNF “British National Formulary” March 205.

& others regarding Prescription precautions in Renal, Hepatic and other conditions.

9. On completing attending this course you will get a certificate authorized by UEDA “Upper Egypt Diabetes Association” – an IDF Member.

IDF Summary of the Levels of Care

Recommended care: Evidence-based care, cost-effective in most nations with a well developed service base and with health-care funding systems consuming a significant part of their national wealth.

Limited care: Care that seeks to achieve the major objectives of diabetes management, but is provided in health-care settings with very limited resources – drugs, personnel, technologies and procedures.

Comprehensive care: Care with some evidence-base that is

provided in health-care settings with considerable resources.
