An Intro to Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy: Tracking Communication Cycles and Understanding Attachment (3 hours of CEs; NBCC #6985) Counseling couples can be challenging and at times may feel intimidating. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT) is an evidence-based model of intervening with couples, providing a map to navigate complex couple cycles with attachment theory as a guide. In this session, participants will be introduced to the principles of EFT and learn how working with emotion can enhance connection and facilitate more bonding experiences for couples. Participants will summarize the principles, steps, and stages of EFT. 2. Participants will apply attachment theory to case conceptualization. 3. Participants will demonstrate EFT interventions in facilitating emotional engagement and creating bonding events for couples CE Hours: 3 hours Fee: $150.00 (including CEs) Dr. Koser earned her BS in psychology and MA in Counseling from Eastern Mennonite University. She holds a PhD in Counseling and Supervision from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Dr. Koser is a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor who specializes in couples therapy and working with individuals who are looking for opportunities for self-growth from an attachment perspective. She also provides one day relationship enrichment weekends for couples, providing a safe place for couples to "jump start" the stuck places in their relationship. Dr. Koser has been invited around the country to lead her one-of-a-kind Love & Enrich Couples Retreats, helping couples learn new ways to find deeper connection in destination locations around the globe. Dr. Koser has presented on EFT at numerous professional conferences around the world and has been an avid consultant to other therapists wanting to know more about incorporating EFT into their practice. She has substantial experience in the creation of and facilitation of psychoeducation weekends based on the book Hold Me Tight, helping to establish the facilitators guide with Dr. Sue Johnson in 2009. She is affiliated with the Washington/Baltimore Center for EFT, the International Center for Excellence in EFT in Ottawa, Canada, and offers EFT supervision in person and via Zoom, a HIPAA compliant teleconferencing platform.
