Why do I need data?
Why do I need data
• Know what you are trying to
achieve before you start – this can
save a lot of time, e.g.
• As a college administrator
• When I am preparing for the new term
• I would like to have a list of all freshers and returners with
names and email addresses
• So that I can send out the college registration instructions to all
students
How do I know if the data is already
available?
• Are you doing an operational process in eVision?
• There may be a report that sits alongside the
eVision task.
• Are you trying to get a lot of data about a group of
students?
• A dataview may be the answer.
• Something else?

• Access to applicant and student data is managed
through your information custodian. They can
approve your access to:
• eVision

• Tableau (www.admin.ox.ac.uk/aad/sdma/tableau/)
• Much data is available on the University website
to the whole world.

• It is YOUR responsibility to ensure reports and
data you download or obtain is managed
appropriately

• Conditions for the ongoing use of data included
in all data extracts
