Third-Party Monitorship – Medical Device CompanyAnkura was engaged to review and evaluate a global medical device company’s current anti-corruption compliance program, internal controls, record-keeping, and financial reporting policies and procedures as they relate to provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Supported the independent monitor, appointed by the DOJ and SEC, by conducting forensic accounting, data acquisition, and data analysis to assess the level at which the company is leveraging data and data analytics throughout its compliance program. The teams work focused on transaction testing across ERP and disparate systems to assess historical customer, vendor, and payment data.

Fraud Investigation – National Insurance CompanyAnkura was engaged to support an investigation and regulatory reporting effort for a national insurance underwriter focused on understanding the breadth of fraudulent insurance policies sold by an agent over a five-year pe-riod. The team identified and centralized data from various homegrown and commercial systems, data warehouses, and business units and developed predictive analytics model to identify potentially fraudulent policies based on comprehensive data elements.

Cybersecurity – Incident ResponseAnkura was engaged in response to allegations of a sophisticated hack into cli-ent’s corporate and personal systems. Ankura worked collaboratively with the cyber security experts to analyze various data elements related to the intru-sion and the involved parties. Our team integrated and centralized disparate data from publicly available information, subpoenas related to IP addresses, phone logs, website activity, and other relevant client data. A complex link analysis provided otherwise unknown insights related to the parties involved, the timing of events, and ultimately presented a comprehensive narrative related to the incident.

Strategy & Performance Matter – Financial Reporting Process EnhancementAnkura’s analytics & data strategy team partnered with our strategy & operations experts team to streamline reporting processes and ensure accuracy of data being utilized by key decision makers for a client facing cash shortage and potential bankruptcy. The result was a significant reduc-tion in the timeliness (from weeks to hours) and accuracy of data reporting. Additionally, the team better aligned management reporting with the needs of the key stakeholders, providing efficient, and effective critical decision making.
