And the Remembrance of Allah is greater – Day #3 – Classes 1 to 2
Class #1
Introduction
§ These days are the greatest Days of the World, may Allah )هلالج لج( accept what we have done and open more. Ameen.
Remember )ٱٱذذكرروواا ( mentioned in the Quran
Surah Ibrahim 6-‐7:
And (remember) when Mûsa (Moses) said to his people: "Call to mind Allâh's Favour to you, when He delivered you from Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people who were afflicting you with horrible torment, and were slaughtering your sons and letting your women alive, and in it was a tremendous trial
from your Lord." نن ووإإذذ كمم تأذذ كمم شڪررتمم لىىنن ررب لشدديیدد عذذاابى إإنن ڪفررتمم وولىىنن ألززيیددن
And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshipping none but Allâh), I will give you more (of My Blessings), but if you are thankless (i.e.
disbelievers), verily! My Punishment is indeed severe."
§ The theme of Surah Ibrahim is the messenger and message. When Allah )هلالج لج( commanded Musa (as) to take out his people, He also told him to remind them of the ‘Days of Allah’ which are Allah’s blessings. It’s important to remember the blessings with:
1. Heart 2. Tongue
§ As mentioned before there’s a very strong relation between the heart and tongue. When we remember with heart and tongue then it will lead to gratitude.
§ What is the blessing upon Banu Israel? To be saved from Firaoun’s people. What was Firaoun and his people doing to Banu Israel? They were pressuring and tormenting them as if they had no value, and to be saved from this requires much gratitude. What were they doing specifically to them?
§ They were killing the boys and leaving the women, so a greater number of women would remain. This is more humiliation and torment for them because who would take care of the women? Truly they were making them like slaves, subhan Allah.
§ To be saved from the Firaoun is a great blessing and it’s a great trial as well because it requires more gratitude afterwards, subhan Allah.
§ We need to be grateful for Islam, we need to be grateful for the message and the messenger, we need to be grateful for the reminders, and we need to be grateful for the ‘tree of faith’ which will brings forth fruits. Allah )هلالج لج( has promised us if we’re grateful then He will increase us. Gratitude comes when we remember the blessings. And when we are grateful for any blessing, then Allah

(هلالج لج) will give us more. If we are grateful for learning one ayah, then Allah )هلالج لج( will increase us and make us understand more ayat. Allah )هلالج لج( will increase us with the same kind or better kind. Yet if we’re ungrateful then the punishment of Allah )هلالج لج( is severe.
§ We have a ‘white picture’ and ‘black picture’ in our mind, and faith will make us look at the white picture. The more we remember and are thankful, then this white picture will become more beautiful. We especially need to be grateful for the deen, knowledge, classes, and to not complain about chairs, food, drinks, or this person did this to me. If a person complains about such matters then we should remind one another of the great blessing of knowledge because the punishment of Allah )هلالج لج( is severe. It’s important to remember Allah’s blessings and we should help each other to be grateful to Allah’s blessings and not complain. Surah Al Hajj 36:
And the Budn (cows, oxen, or camels driven to be offered as sacrifices by the pilgrims at the
sanctuary of Makkah.) We have made them for you as among the Symbols of Allâh, Wherein you have much good. So mention the Name of Allâh over them when they are drawn up in lines (for
sacrifice). Then, when they are down on their sides (after slaughter), eat thereof, and feed the poor who does not ask (men), and the beggar who asks (men). Thus have We made them subject to you
that you may be grateful
§ Hajj is the goal, and the goal is Allah .)هلالج لج( Tawaf, sa’ee, jamarat and so forth are all for establishing the remembrance of Allah .)هلالج لج( As if we are ending the year with establishing the remembrance of Allah ,)هلالج لج( subhan Allah.
§ What makes us to not witness the benefits for us? When we argue and talk, but when we remember Allah )هلالج لج( while looking and observing then it will make us greatly benefit.
§ We need to remember the name of Allah (هلالج لج) on what He’s provided us. If we don’t remember Allah (هلالج لج) at the time slaughter then it could cause sickness or pride, so we should magnify Him when slaughtering the sacrifice. Alhamdulilah the sacrifice is not humans or children.
§ When the mukhbiteen hear about Allah ,)هلالج لج( it immediately affects their hearts, subhan Allah. § Al Budn are big animals such as cows or camels and Allah )هلالج لج( has subjected them and made them
to surrender to us. This should remind us to always surrender to Allah .)هلالج لج( § When the budn are put on their sides, they are then slaughtered. Because of their large size, they
can feed more people and it doesn’t only have to be the needy, but anyone. We have to be grateful to Allah )هلالج لج( for subjecting them to us. We don’t have the power or means to make such animals surrender to us and this is only from Allah .)
§ Allah )هلالج لج( is the One Who commanded us to go to hajj, He’s the One Who commanded to sacrifice the animals and He’s the One Who’s subjecting the animals for us. The blood and meat will not reach Allah ,)هلالج لج( but the taqwa in our hearts. For anyone not going to hajj, then only one sacrifice is

made for the entire family – including the living and dead. As for those going to hajj, then each one needs to sacrifice individually.
O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to [attack] you and We sent upon them a wind and armies [of angels] you did not see. And ever is Allah, of what
you do, Seeing.
§ The theme of Surah Al Ahzab is to surrender to Allah (هلالج لج) in times of difficulties. Medina was surrounded with enemies from all sides, and Surah Al Ahzab gives us the feeling of being in the middle and having enemies coming from all sides. Enemies can be the shaitan, people, trials and so forth. A person should surrender to Allah )هلالج لج( and with the remembrance of Allah )هلالج لج( the hearts find rest.
§ We need to remember Allah’s blessings upon us and notice how this message keeps getting repeated. May Allah )هلالج لج( make us to always remember His blessings. Ameen.
§ When they were surrounded with armies from all sides, Allah )هلالج لج( sent wind and no one has control over the wind except Allah .)هلالج لج( He also sent an army of angels to support them which they could not see.
§ Even if we’re in the middle of trials, all the doors are closed, and we feel we’re in a corner, it’s only Allah (هلالج لج) Who can save us and take us out. When Allah (هلالج لج) saves us then its important to remember Him. Surah Al Ahzab 41-‐43:
O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance
And exalt Him morning and afternoon
It is He who confers blessing upon you, and His angels [ask Him to do so] that He may bring you out
from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful.
§ We need to remember Allah (هلالج لج) at all times, while sitting, standing, walking, lying down. Alhamdulilah we have many adkhaar and words which can bring us closer to Allah .)هلالج لج( The least amount of dhikr are the morning/evening supplications and the dhikr after the obligatory prayers in order to take us out of hypocrisy. Since the hypocrites remember Allah )هلالج لج( but little.
§ Remembrance is a worship which can make us precede everyone else while resting, subhan Allah. Someone might be praying or fasting or reading Quran but there’s no remembrance. May Allah )هلالج لج( make us among those who remember Him much. Ameen.

§ The more you make dhikr, the more Allah )هلالج لج( will praise you and the angels will make dua for you because you’re remembering Allah .)هلالج لج( And the praise of Allah )هلالج لج( and the dua of the angels takes one out from darkness to light, subhan Allah. When we have more light then we will have more faith, more worships, and more knowledge, and this is a special mercy from Allah )هلالج لج( to make a small deed to be great in reward. Truly Allah is the Greatest.
May Allah )هلالج لج( help us to be among those who remember Him much. Ameen.
Class #2
§ With the remembrance of Allah ,(هلالج لج) the hearts find rest and when the heart is at rest then the body is at rest, subhan Allah.
Surah Fatir 1-‐3:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all
things competent.
Whatever Allah grants to people of mercy -‐ none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds -‐ none can release it thereafter. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
O mankind, remember the favor of Allah upon you. Is there any creator other than Allah who provides for you from the heaven and earth? There is no deity except Him, so how are you
deluded?
§ The theme of Surah Fatir is confirming the Islamic Aqeedah, which includes the purpose of our creation and the believer’s view of the universe and life.
§ The Surah begins with Allah )هلالج لج( praising Himself and the creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of the people.
§ The angels carry out the commands of Allah .)هلالج لج( There are commands which are: 1. Decrees: angels of the womb, angel of death, rain, provision and so forth 2. Legislations: to carry the legislation to the messengers
§ Allah )هلالج لج( gives angels a number of wings according to their task, from two, three, four wings and Jibreel (as) has 600 wings because he has to carry the revelation to the messengers, subhan Allah.
§ When Allah )هلالج لج( opens a mercy for the people then no one can withhold it, and when He withholds any mercy then no one can give it. All of this is important in the aqeedah so we should only attach to Allah .)
§ After mentioning the commands and creation, there’s a command to all the people; it didn’t say ‘o you who believe’, but ‘o mankind’. Surah Fatir is about aqeedah so it’s addressing all the people.

When people are reminded of the blessings then they will be grateful to Allah )هلالج لج( and this shows us how remembrance leads to gratitude.
§ Surah Fatir is telling us about the basis of blessings: 1. Creation 2. Provision
§ After Allah (هلالج لج) confirms the creation and provision in the previous ayat, He then commands mankind. It’s known there is no Creator and no Provider except Allah ,(هلالج لج) so there is no one worthy of worship except Allah .(هلالج لج) What do we need to be thankful? There is no worthy of attachment except the One Who is the Creator and Provider, alhamdulilah. We don’t need to have a big palace or money to remember Allah ,)هلالج لج( alhamdulilah Allah )هلالج لج( has created us and provided us.
§ So how can someone go from attaching to the Creator to the creation and from attaching to the Provider to the one being provided? Subhan Allah.
Surah Al Jumuah 10:
And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often that you may succeed.
§ Surah Al Jumua is one of the musabihaat. § When the adhan to the Jumua prayer is called:
1. Then the believers should make it their priority to go to the remembrance of Allah )هلالج لج( which includes the prayer and khutbah. An indication of one’s faith is when he follows the command of Allah .)
2. A person should leave the selling and go to the Friday prayer. § If a person has real beneficial knowledge then he will make the Friday prayer his priority and leave
the selling. This shows knowledge requires application. The more a person believes, the more he will run to the remembrance of Allah .)هلالج لج( For the trader, customers might come at that moment when the adhan is called but it’s a test for faith.
§ When the prayer is over, then go and spread in the land, go to wherever you want to go, and seek from the Bounties of Allah )هلالج لج( – whether it’s food, visiting, and so forth. What does Allah )هلالج لج( say next? After you’re in a state of spreading in the earth and you go ‘back to your life’ then you need to remember Allah (هلالج لج) even more because easily a person can fall into heedlessness. Remembrance of Allah (هلالج لج) is like a portable worship, subhan Allah. You can take it with you anywhere, anytime. Remembrance of Allah )هلالج لج( is one of the great reasons for success.
§ Once the Prophet )ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص( was standing giving the khutbah and a caravan came by and the people left to see it. People want to go to what’s tangible and leave the remembrance of Allah ,)هلالج لج( but a person should know the priority. And Allah )هلالج لج( is the Best of Providers and He will provide from where you can’t imagine.
Alhamdulilah by Allah’s favor He allowed us to complete this deed. May Allah )هلالج لج( make us from those Who remember Him much and may He increase us. Ameen.
