Part 1 – Contacting the MarketPart 1 – Contacting the MarketThe target audience for our film is 15 – 40/50 as I

think that the themes and ideas but suit this age group. The best way of contacting the younger market is through social networking like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. In addition to this another form of interaction could be through mobiles games or apps. When tying to contact the older market I would look at newspapers like The Sun, The Argus and The Empire magazine. Another way of interacting with the target audience would be through Sky sports, BBC news and evening soaps. Award and reality shows can also be very useful as they attract a wide audience that may be interested in our thriller film.

Pull/Push advertisingPull/Push advertisingPull Advertising – I good interactive marketing

idea to reach the market could be the social medias. By using different social networks will help spread the film through word of mouth. This creates a buzz that wit make our film a hot topic and the thing to see. Word of mouth can then mean free Adventism that can spread to people around the word and that don’t use social medias.

Push Advertising – A second way of contacting an audience by be through more tradition techniques that and non-interactive. These could be poster to advertise the film and can be cheap to make and put up in busy locations. Billboards can be another form of poster that can blown up and shown in city centres and motorway. The size of the billboard may be very eye catching and can the stick in the mind of the audience to get them into the cinemas. Lastly TV ads can be subtle way of showing previews of the film to people whilst they are watching TV to give them a small taste yet not get in their face.

EventsEventsDifferent events can be very good way of spreading the news

about the films to large audiences. The cast of the film can also help campaign for the film by doing TV interviews; as they are a great way for the audience to learn lots about the film and how the actor feel making it. The cast can then also attend award shows and film event and talk about there role in the film and what their views are on the film themselves. This can add a personal touch to the film and the actor name can also help sell the film to people their own fans.

Media and advertising can also be through going to film festivals. The can be great places to show off what are film is about and also see the competition out at the same time.

Lastly test screening can be a great way of getting feedback. By giving a preview to a select audience you can learn how the public respond to the film so that you can learn who to aim the film at.

CastingCastingWhen creating a big hit film the movie

needs to contain big stars that help sell a film and bring in fans to see their idols in action. For a lead role would best suit someone like Leonardo De-Caprio because of his similar role in thriller films like Inception and Shutter Island. Another possible character could be Johnny Depp from his lead role in Public Enemy and his obsessive character in Sweeny Todd. The role of Winston – the partner to Kane that standbys him throughout could be played by Matt Damon from his role in the Bourne series, Hereafter and the Oceans films.

Content of Marketing Content of Marketing ProductsProductsWhen it comes down to trying to sell the film to the

audience the film needs a strong Unique Selling Point (USP) to make it stand out from it competitions. In our film the A-list cast will be a very strong selling point as it can show that film has talented actor and can appeal to pre-built fans bases. When creating posters I would like to talk about what other films are director has done in terms of thriller film to tell the audience his style. For our film I would want an experience director Steven Spielberg, Christian Nolan who made the Dark Knight, or may even Tim Burton to give the film a unique twist. The marketing posters will also mention any awards that the film has won or nominated for and tell about the huge success it was through internet media.

What the Audience sayWhen we first finished our film we wanted to see

how are audience would like it and if they understood the complex and thriller elements of the narrative. We then asked different views to talk about what they found convention and affective. The main response from the audience was that they felt the antagonist was very typical with his dark personality. Another strong view was that the location of the woods was very typical because of its isolation and dangerous feel. Someone did also comment on the use of a dead body and how the crime theme was very typical to the thriller genre.

FeedbackIn order to see how our opening title sequence attend

to out target audience was through showing it to the audience and asking for feedback on the areas we wanted to meet: does it relate to the genre, in the M-E-S affective, Is the good use of cinematography. The first question has been shown in the last slide; the next question was is the M-E-S affective? The majority of the feedback was that the props (bracelet, crime tape) and the costumes (police uniform, ripped leggings) where very affective at giving clues to the narrative. The audience response was positive to the M-E-S as it told them lot of background information to help and want to watch the whole film. The last question was about the use of cinematography and music. The feedback from the audience was that the editing and flashback create a clear narrative and show the different side to the antagonist. The music was also mention as the eerie soundtrack helped add the tension and suspense.
