Bendix Spending Trends
In 2013 we’re experiencing fewer catastrophic claims (over $50k) but those individual claim costs are higher than past years. If you take out claims > 50k and calculate the projected medical cost per employee, 2013 is $5886 or $131 per employee more than 2012. We need continued emphasis on prevention and early detection to help our overall population from getting worse.

Specialty Pharmacy medicine
> Specialty Rx program Specialty drugs are for complex conditions like multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis or cancer. They’re different from other drugs:
• Many need to be stored and shipped under special conditions • Many need to be injected or infused • Many have a risk of side effects so you may need help to manage these
drugs
Aetna Specialty Pharmacy offers unique services • Fast, free deliver in secure, private packaging • Personal instruction • Ongoing follow-up from nurses and pharmacists • Free injection supplies
Once one of these medications is filled at a retail pharmacy after 1/1/14, the member will receive outreach from Aetna Specialty Rx, advising them that their subsequent fills must be made through Aetna Specialty. For everyone who is new to using Aetna Specialty Pharmacy, a welcome kit is automatically included along with his or her first Aetna Specialty Pharmacy medicine delivery.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE
HRA / HSA Preventive and Chronic RX As of 1/1/09, HRA and HSA members were eligible for co-pay coverage on select Preventive or Chronic drug prescriptions.
The IRS allows individuals covered by an HRA or HSA to waive the required deductible for both Preventive and Chronic medications in an HRA plan, and Preventive medications in an HSA plan.
Co-pays paid will not be credited towards meeting your annual deductible in both the HRA and HSA.
Preventive and/or chronic co-pays may available at the first 3 tiers of our RX formulary ($10, $30, $90 – not applicable to Specialty Rx).
A brochure of eligible drugs in the Preventive and/or Chronic categories will be available on BCVS Intranet under ERC / myHealth when provided by Aetna.
