Of course, if you want to venture out on the open road, we encourage you to participate in events anywhere!

This guidebook uses the Girl Scout Pathways as designation for program categories, and programs within the Event Pathway are listed by the Girl Scouts of Colorado’s Program Initiatives.

Media Maker

Have you ever wanted to see what it is like to be involved in making movies? Sign-up with your troop, group, or by yourself for this online digital filmmakers program and create media that reflects the reality you know. Explore how different media forms are created, the media’s impact on people, and the power you have to create your own media for change. This is a great opportunity for those planning their silver and gold awards. Details will be available on our website this winter!

What Will You Do Today?Girls are invited to join a troop who regularly meet to plan activities, community service projects, field trips, camping adventures, and just about anything they can imagine.

Meetings are girl-centered and girl-led under the direction of two or more adult volunteers. If you’re already in a troop, you’re already traveling down the Troop Pathway. If your interested in learning more about troops in your area, complete the inquiry form atgirlscoutsofcolorado.org/tell-me-more.

If you want to be a Girl Scout and don’t have the time for a troop commitment, you can choose the Camp, Travel, Series, or Event Pathway and do all of the same things that a troop does, but as an individual member with adult supervision.

Can’t wait for the Virtual Pathway? Get started today by checking out girlscouts.org/forgirls or email [email protected].

The Virtual Pathway is a planned online community that will allow girls to participate

in fun, friendship, and leadership opportunities that Girl Scouting offers, regardless of

their geographic location. Through interactive, quality, and safe program activities, girls

can connect with other Girl Scouts down the street or around the world.

The most established Pathway in Girl Scouting, troops provide girls an opportunity to

spend time and work together with other girls their age.

Girl Scout Group/Troop CampingGirl Scouts of Colorado offers year-round camping at each of our resident camp facilities with a range of amenities and activities available. In addition to the three resident camps, there are several troop camping facilities across the state. For more information visit girlscoutsofcolorado.org/properties-reservations-checklist.

It is highly recommended that inexperienced troops have at least one practice overnighter at a troop member’s home or nearby venue prior to attending a Rendezvous. Each troop must provide one adult who has completed Leader Training, and one adult who has completed Overnight Training.

Troop Rendezvous Camp Cost:$70 per girlIncludes program and materials; lodging; meals; (breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, brunch on Sunday); and four snacks (including s’mores and a travel snack).

$25 per adult needed to meet safety ratio requirements, $70 per additional adultIncludes lodging; meals; (breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, brunch on Sunday); and four snacks (including s’mores and a travel snack).

$25 application processing fee for each person attending Rendezvous Camp. Any specialty programs offered at a camp location may carry an additional fee. After registration, you will be notified if these options are available within the planned program for your Rendezvous Camp.

Distinguish Yourself and Take Action to Make a DifferenceWhat will you do today? Girl Scouts do great things every day through community service. Girl Scouts of Colorado recognizes the dedication of girls and young women working to improve the lives of those around them, and the highest awards take community service to another level. It’s amazing what can be accomplished by girls with good ideas, support, and big hearts.

The Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards honor girls who have met specific requirements for a project that improves the community through Take Action projects. All registered Girl Scouts are encouraged to work toward the highest award for their program level.

Girl Scout Bronze AwardThe Girl Scout Bronze Award represents a Girl Scout Junior’s (4th and 5th grade) commitment to community and forms a foundation for future service. She develops her leadership and planning skills working within a troop or group.

Girl Scout Silver AwardThe Girl Scout Silver Award is the second highest award a Cadette (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) can achieve in Girl Scouting. It recognizes girls who work in a group with community resources to solve a local problem.

Girl Scout Gold AwardThe highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve is the Girl Scout Gold Award. The Gold Award follows a strict process, for current details visit girlscoutsofcolorado.org/gold-award. Training is required for girls who have completed the prerequisites and are ready to begin designing a Take Action project.

For more information on any of the awards, see the Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting, visit the girlscoutsofcolorado.org website, or contact highest.awards@gscolorado with your questions.

Girl Awards TrainingHighest Awards 101:Designed to provide an orientation to all three awards starting with a discussion of the Take Action concept and the difference between Take Action and community service. Join other girls and adult volunteers as we explore how to move from one to the other. Sessions are generally held at Fallapalooza and Springaganza training events and are offered as a webinar several times a year.
