the objective of shifting towards an economy that is based on sustainable knowledge, which is one of the long-term objectives of the Emirate. This is also manifested through the data of Statics Centre in the Emirate, which reveal a 7.3 % decline in the contribution of oil and natural gas production out of the gross domestic product of 2014, with such contribution to gross domestic product declining by 54.9 % at current prices in 2014. This means a considerable decline in dependence on extractive/oil industry for the Emirate's economy.Indeed, ADX's role in national economy, namely enabling securities markets to become the primary financier of economic sectors and projects, is quite manifest and considerable, as it is one of the seven fields of interest in Abu Dhabi economic policy. Besides, increasing financing of economic sectors and projects is one of the primary objectives in Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, which requires activation of a range of non-traditional financing tools, especially with the increase in the projects' need for more flexible financing sources that are more responsive to the requirements of its growth and expansion.
As for the market performance in the last year, ADX was among the best GCC countries' markets in 2015, according to the Arab Monetary Fund report, with the market index registered a decline of 4.9 % during the year, while the share of foreigners' trades in the market was the highest in Arab markets. Moreover, net foreign investment increased by 65 % in 2015, adding up to AED 5.8 billion, compared to AED 3.5 billion in 2014. Moreover, institutional investment registered net trading AED 7.2 in 2015, compared to AED 2.1 billion in 2014, making an increase of around 243 %. Hence, institutional investment represents 47.7 % of the total trading value in the market, compared to 52.3 % for individuals in 2015.
On the same level, the market value of shares owned by foreign nationals, investors in ADX reached AED 40.1 billion in 2015, compared to 37.2 billion by the end of 2014, making an increase of around 8 %. Similarly, the number of foreign institutional investors in the market, since its inception and until the end of 2015, rose to more than 4727.Undoubtedly, the investments flowing into the market are foreign investments in totality, and they ascertain the integrity of financial and economic conditions in the country, and reflect the positive and optimistic prospect of the economy of the Emirate and its diverse sectors. It also maintains the wise policies assumed by the government in managing the economy over the past years, maintaining the safety of national economy against risks and fluctuations. In a related development, the performance of listed companies in 2015 was positive, as their market cap reached AED 447 billion by the end of 2015, while their profits exceeded AED 30.9 billion by the end of the third quarter of 2015. The services sector made the highest total profits with an increase rate of 25.7 % greater than the rate accrued in the same period of 2014, seconded by industries sector, with an increase rate of 19.7 %, and the followed by consumer goods sector, which made an increase of 17.5 %. As for the cash dividend distributions of these companies in 2015, they amounted to AED 20.8 billion, 18.1 % greater than the rate of preceding year. Finally, I would like to thank fellow Board Members of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange for the efforts they exerted and the opinions and suggestions they submitted, which had the greatest impact in developing the market in several aspects. I should not also miss thanking ADX executive management and managing directors and all employees for their exerted efforts throughout the year, wishing that they all maintain their efforts for the prosperity and development of the Exchange.
H. E. Hamad Al Shamsi Chairman
ADX Chairman's Message
It is my pleasure to present to you the ADX annual report of 2015, which offers a detailed picture of last year performance and introduces details about brokers and investors' activities, as well as useful information about ADX listed companies. We believe if the important role that transparency plays in enabling investors to take well-studied investment decisions.National economy has preserved stability during the past years despite the prevalence of instability and fluctuation in most world economies, as UAE Gross Domestic Product made leap from AED510.9 in 2006, too reach AED 1.47 trillion by the end of 2014, and then to AED 1.58 trillion in 2015, according to statistics issued by the Ministry of Economy.
Though the IMF cut global growth forecast in 2016, warning of major challenges that threaten global economy, grounded on Chinese economy slack, recession in Brazil, decline in global oil prices, standard & Poor's credit rating expects that the UAE economy will sustain its solid growth in 2016 despite all the challenges. This indicates the strength and durability the UAE economy enjoys, as well as its ability to sustain growth, based on its own potentials. Thus, 2015 comes to enhance UAE prevalence over several other global economies during the foregoing year, being ranked 17thin the world, according to the World Economic Forum's global competitiveness report. Moreover, the UAE stock markets ranked 20th among 148 on the Global Securities Markets Index, given that the global competitiveness report described the UAE markets as "developed and profound".
In addition, Abu Dhabi economy was not far from such public growth witnessed in the State economy, as Abu Dhabi Statistics Centre announced that Abu Dhabi Growth Domestic Product at current prices reached AED 960 billion in 2014, compared to AED 931 billion at current prices in 2013, and thus it multiplied by more than fivefold since the beginning of the last decade; given that it was AED 177.8 billion in 2001. On the other hand, Abu Dhabi ranked 28 among 83 financial center on the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI) issued in 2015, surpassing both Beijing and Vienna, which ranked twenty ninth and thirtieth respectively.Abu Dhabi has assumed a well-studied and compact approach to diversify the Emirate's resources of economy and balance the contribution of non-oil gross domestic product. This is meant to achieve

Keeping pace with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State (may Allah safeguard him) to declare the year 2015 as a "Year of Innovation", ADX launched an integrated package of the latest innovated smart services, as part of its participation in Gitex Exhibition 2015. This is achieved through enforcing its work mechanisms and upholding its financial solvency through attracting the largest possible number of shareholders, as this would contribute in affording necessary liquidity to finance its future plans.

ADX Chief Executive's Message
For the securities market in the different world countries, the year 2015 was full of challenges. As for ADX, it was a change to enhance its performance and to plan for a future that contributes to fulfilment of Abu Dhabi Economic Visions 2030 and shapes its contours as a regional center for securities markets.
Our efforts in ADX during the year 2015 were focused in pursuing implementation of our strategy, the four pivots of which revolve around creating a securities market in the best standards, diversifying investment tools, introducing institutional contribution, and building a distinctive performing institution. Through these four pivots, we target development of the different work aspects in the market, in a manner that lends it greater capacity to achieve its primary objectives and that positively and effectively contribute in sustenance and prosperity of Abu Dhabi economy, within Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.
In 2015, we launched the Market Maker system, as Abu Dhabi National Bank started to work as the first market maker in Emirati Securities market. This move falls with the framework of ADX continued efforts to elevate its infrastructure in a manner that conforms to the best international practices. It also falls within our strategy that aims at activating the role of capital market in the Emirate as a financing tool for expansion and growth. The market maker represents an essential component in the infrastructure that is required for the development of other tools in Abu Dhabi market. This contributes in the diversification of the scope of available products and enhances its attractiveness for investment in an open environment that is marked for transparency and disclosure.
Departing from ADX keenness on creating a securities market according to the optimum standards and developing the market regulatory rules and procedures, along with all customers and shareholders, the market has issued the new rules regarding trading, clearing and depositary system.
