UT ATHLETICS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY ECONOMY

The Departments of Intercollegiate Athletics are 100% self-sustaining auxiliary enterprises of The University and receive no state funding.

They operate under the same budget and University policies as all UT auxiliary enterprises.

UT Athletics pays The University approximately $2.1 million in annual overhead fees.

In 2008-09, UT Athletics contributed more than $16 million to the UT economy in payment of tuitions, fees, housing, utilities, parking, UTPD, UT Recreational Sports, and other entities.

Page 56: Annual Report to the Faculty Council

UT ATHLETICS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY ECONOMY

During the last five years, UT Athletics has given back over $6.6 million to the UT administration.

The University receives approximately $500,000-600,000 in annual interest from UT Athletics cash balances. UT uses these funds for campus operations.

University Libraries received $71,000 from The University of Texas Club revenues in 2008-09.

UT Athletics generated thousands of dollars in 2008-09 for UT’s general scholarship fund through awards like “Chevrolet Player of the Game,” etc.
