“Bringing academia and community together”
Introduction
About the IGEF The Lau Chor Tak Institute of Global Economics and Finance (IGEF) is a self-financed, independent, non-profit research institute within The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). It was established in January 2010 by Emeritus Professor Liu Pak Wai and Professor Lawrence J. Lau, then Vice-Chancellor of CUHK.
Mission Our institute’s mission focuses on two distinct areas:
• To contribute conceptual and policy ideas to the reform and opening up process of China’s financial system through research and public engagement.
• To organize and deliver executive education programmes to enhance the knowledge and expertise of participants in recent developments and new ideas in global economics and finance.
IGEF has seen significant changes in the Hong Kong and Chinese economies and financial markets over the last six years since its establishment. Despite these changes, IGEF has maintained its unwavering commitment to fulfilling its mission and will bring the institute further to new horizons.
