“The Rocky Review”
TERM 4, WEEK 7, 23 NOVEMBER, 2016 PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
Welcome to Week 7
Thank you to all the parents, family members and community members who attended our Christmas Play last
Thursday. The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed performing for you all and I would like to thank them for
their excellent performance. Thank you to the students who put in so much effort during the rehearsals and on
the night and thank you to the staff who always go above and beyond to ensure our students have positive
learning experiences.
Thank you to the P&C for the fabulous BBQ you offered after the performance and to Damian Handebo for his
contribution towards the meat. It was really lovely to be able to relax and get to know each other a little better.
We all look forward to seeing you all again on presentation night.
We now begin to look forward to performing at the Uralla Carols by Candlelight on Wednesday 7 December.
Students will bring home a note with further information and a return slip to indicate whether they will be
attending the carols.
The Department of Education and Communities School Swimming and Water Safety Program is an intensive
learn to swim program, which develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety
and survival. The Program is conducted over ten days. Each daily lesson is 45 minutes. This program is for
students who have not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills, and are unable to
swim 25m confidently unaided in deep water, are eligible to participate in the School Swimming and Water
Safety Program. I highly recommend this program for the majority of our students. Please return the permission
note as soon as possible to assist us with organisation or contact the school for further information.
It is coming to the time where we are beginning the process of electing captains for 2017. Students will be
informed of the process this week and can begin to think about who exhibits all the ‘Keys to Success’ and who
will make great leaders for our school.
You Can Do It
As the year is coming to an end I would like to reinforce what a fabulous tool
You Can Do It is to create healthy mindsets in our children. By getting our
children to focus on positive habits of the mind, rather than negative enables
our children to grow into strong young adults in the future. Each week until
the end of the term I will be providing an insert of how you can continue to
grow our children’s mindsets using You Can Do It.
Have a great week.

CHILDREN OF THE WORLD
Last Thursday evening Rocky River students performed their well rehearsed Christmas play “Children of the
World”. The students did a wonderful job in front of a large audience. Thank you to all who came along for the
performance and BBQ.
I am after clean, small recyclables such as
cardboard, bottle caps and anything that is an
interesting shape. It is for a year 5 & 6
measurement project where they are researching,
designing and creating a model school
playground. Thank you.
