Letter from Lisa Hauser | AOII Properties Board Director

“AOII Properties exists to support the mission of the Fraternity by meeting the operational and facility needs of every AOII collegiate chapter.” While the daily emphasis of AOII Properties is on managing the needs of 134 collegiate chapter corporations, planning for the future needs of our chapters is a constant.

“Alpha Omicron Pi Properties will enhance the sisterhood experience with safe, secure, and competitive facilities for all chapters through the disciplined use of an effective and efficient business model that becomes the industry standard.” Our members deserve an exceptional collegiate experience. We know that having the right living and meeting space enhances the bonds of sisterhood and ensures that our collegians will be successful in sharing that experience with prospective new members and securing the future of AOII. Having the right business model is key to enhancing sisterhood now and forever!

AOII Properties is guided by its strategic plan, which embraces these core values:

- All of our actions must reflect credit on the Fraternity and be true to the principles of Alpha Omicron Pi and its ritual.- We must provide safe and competitive facilities.- We must maximize our collective resources for the benefit of all members to facilitate the exceptional experience they deserve.- Our culture must embrace transparency; our members are entitled to an accounting of our activities and operations. - Collaboration with our members and volunteers is essential to our success.

It is our vision that, by adhering to our strategic plan and core values, AOII Prop-erties will be able to ensure that every chapter has a facility that is competitive for its campus; we plan for most maintenance and capital expenditures; we have the financial flexibility to respond appropriately to changed circumstances; and our role in supporting the Fraternity’s mission is better understood. As we continue to collaborate with our members, improve transparency, and provide value, we take this opportunity to thank all of you for joining us on this journey and for making AOII Properties the best it can be!

Are YOU ready for Los Angeles?AOII’s 2015 Convention in Los Angeles is just two months away! All members of Council should have re-ceived the Call to Convention with everything you need to be prepared for the business of our Fraternity. If you have not yet received yours or have a question about the Call, please contact Amanda Smith at [email protected]. The Call can also be found on the ORL under the “Convention 2015” heading.

2015-2017 International Executive Board Candidate ForumAs we prepare for the election of our 2015-2017 International Executive Board, we encourage you to engage with the candidates on the issues that are important to you and your chapter. The Nominating Trustees (NTs) are facilitating a candidate forum where AOII members may interact with XB candidates through a question and answer format. All AOII members will be able to participate in this forum through their Coun-cil representatives.

The NTs are soliciting ques-tions from Council members to pose to the Executive Board candidates. When you pose your question, be sure to include your name and Council position. The forum is intended as a profes-sional and respectful area to voice your questions to the can-didates about any number of ar-eas, including but not limited to their Information Forms, goals for the next biennium, views on the current strengths of the Fra-ternity, etc. The NTs will select questions for the candidates to answer, and all answers will be posted on Fulfilling the Promise in the Officer Resource Library. Only questions sent from Council members to NTs will be considered.

If you are not a member of Council (the legislative body of AOII which consists of Past International Presidents, Executive Board, National Panhellenic Conference Delegation, AOII Foundation Board of Directors, Alpha Omicron Pi Prop-erties, Inc. Board of Directors, Standing Committee Chairmen, Network Directors, Network Specialists, Col-legiate Chapter Presidents, Collegiate Chapter Advisers, and Alumnae Chapter Presidents), please connect with one of your Council delegates in order to influence the consideration of your question(s).

Answers from the first round of questions which began April 15 will be posted online on April 24. The second round of questions are due to the Nominating Trustees on May 1 to have answers posted May 11, and the third round of questions are due to the NTs on May 15 to have answers posted on May 29. The ballot for the 2015-2017 International Executive Board is posted on the AOII website. In addition, each candidate’s Information Form can be found by logging on to Fulfilling the Promise, clicking “View ORL” then “Executive Board.” They are also included in the Call to Convention.

Please send all candidate questions to the Nominating Trustees at [email protected]. We look for-ward to some fun and engaging dialogue with our candidates!

An update to AOII’sAlcohol PolicyThe Executive Board recently voted to approve an update to the Alcohol Policy. Please see the updated language below: “Section I. General Policies. All federal, state/province, and local laws, and university regulations regarding the posses-sion, consumption, sale, and/or provision of alcohol shall be obeyed by all collegiate chapters and individual members without exception. Chapters shall use Alpha Omicron Pi’s BYOB or Third Party Vendor Event Planning Guides as a resource for planning all AOII sponsored events with alcohol present. BYOB is defined in the FIPG Guidelines as one (1) six-pack of 12-ounce beers or one (1) four pack of wine coolers brought by a member or guest who is legally able to consume an alcoholic beverage. For Canadian chapters, BYOB also includes (1) six-pack of wine coolers.” This change was made because in Canada, the alcohol content in a six-pack of wine coolers is the same alcohol content as in a six-pack of beers.

If you have graduated already this spring or are preparing for an upcom-ing graduation, we’d love to hear from you, receive your photos and share your successes with AOIIs everywhere! Photos can be featured on social media, in To Dragma, future issues of The Piper, other AOII print materi-als or presentations, and more. We are ALWAYS looking for great photos of our sisters. Please send them to [email protected]!

Congrats graduates!

AOII Career OpportunitiesSeveral positions are currently open at AOII Headquarters in Brentwood, TN. AOIIFoundation News

Election of the 2015-2017 Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation Board will take place at International Convention in Los Angeles. To help familiarize our membership with the candidates, the Foundation’s Nominating Committee will facilitate an online candidate forum where AOII members may interact with the candidates through a question and answer format. We invite you to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to ask the candidates about the issues that are important to you and the future of our Fraternity.

Members of Council may submit questions via email in three rounds. If you are not a member of Council, you may ask a Council member to submit a question on your behalf. Council members include collegiate and alumnae chapter presidents, chapter advisers, network personnel, NPC delegates, international board members and standing committee chairmen.

The Committee will select questions to pose to the candidates, and their answers will be posted in the Officer Re-source Library on the Fraternity’s Fulfilling the Promise website. Questions may touch on a number of topics, such as the candidates’ skills and expertise, the ways in which they have demonstrated their commitment to the Foundation, their goals and ideas for the next biennium, and their views on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We ask you to keep your questions relevant and respectful. Please send all candidate questions to the Committee at [email protected]. Questions posed for Round 1 will be posted on Fulfilling the Promise April 24. Second round questions are due May 1 to be posted May 11, and third round questions are due May 15 to be posted May 29.
