The word “scholarship” often generates thoughts of enthusiasm among our members, and I’m proud to share that we awarded 60 scholarships in the amount of $176,500 to deserving collegiate and alumnae members of our Fraternity for the 2014-2015 academic year! This is the largest amount awarded to date and all made possible through the gener-ous support of our AOII Foundation donors.

As a former recipient of the Muriel T. McKin-ney Scholarship, I know first-hand the impact an award like this can make on your academic career. It is both an honor and privilege to be selected as a scholarship recipient, and I am most grateful to the AOII Foundation and donors who made it possible for me to continue my undergraduate education. I am also grateful to be a part of making a similar impact on so many of our sisters today.

We received several thank-you notes from the 60 women who were recipients this year. Like me, each expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to continue their education.

One sister shares:

“As a passionate sister of Alpha Omicron Pi, I have taken my promise of being an AOII for a lifetime very seriously. I truly believe that whether I am wearing my letters or not, people can always see that I am an AOII. I live the values of AOII every day in all that I do. I’ve always held so closely to my heart some of the main values of AOII: Charity, Loyalty, Simplicity and Humility. This scholarship will not only encourage me to continue living these values, but it will also be a constant remind-er to always keep putting my all into my work in AOII. I know that if I work hard to better our chapter and our Fraternity as a whole, my rewards and benefits will be numerous. I know this because I’ve already received so much from AOII, and it hasn’t even been a year since my initiation! I am proud to wear these letters, and I will forever display them with the dignity they deserve.” - Madison Dayberry, Beta Chi Chapter/Kentucky Wesleyan College (2014-2015 Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient)

I am pleased to share with you that the 2015-2016 scholarship application is now available! Visit our website at www.aoiifoundation.org to begin your application. And mark your calendars! Applications are due by March 1, 2015. We are proud to share that we have two new named scholarships available this year, in addition to our existing named scholarships and those available through our Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Fund.

We are beyond thankful to our donors for funding each of these scholarship oppor-tunities so that sisters like Madison can continue their pursuit of academic excel-lence!

Roses,

Message from Crystal Combs |AOII Foundation Board President

AOIIFoundation News

In October, the AOII Foundation hosted the NPC Foundations Leader-ship Summit at AOII Headquarters in Tennessee. Representatives from the Foundations of 19 NPC groups were in attendance to network and share successes.

When asked what the best aspect of the Summit was, one attendee responded: “Not to sound cliche, but all of it. The time to talk casually and share ideas was just as valuable as the educational sessions.”

Pictured here are representatives from Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Pi, Phi Mu, and Chi Omega!

Top 5 overlooked features on Fulfilling the PromiseSince Fulfilling the Promise launched

over the summer, thousands of AOIIs have logged in to access year-by-year educational trainings, the Officer Resource Library, My Contacts, and more. However, some parts of the site seem to be hidden gems - useful features that are sometimes overlooked.

1. The Idea BankWhile the ORL has many great resources

and tools, sometimes it’s helpful to see what other chapters (both collegiate and alumnae) are doing or using. Click on the Idea Bank logo on the right side of the Welcome page to submit idea requests or best practices that work for you.

2. The Search Bar Say your chapter wants to brush up on

parliamentary procedure but you don’t know where to find a resource that can help. See “SEARCH” and a magnifying glass across the top of the page? Type in “parliamentary” or the keyword you’re looking for in that bar to find related resources.

Because the website is unable to search through all of AOII’s 200+resources, only searches for keywords or words in a resource’s title will yield the desired results. For example, searching for “Robert’s Rules” or “motion” would work for the Parliamentary Procedure resource.

3. Alpha EssentialsWhile the Education Committee

wants you to be well-educated about all things AOII, we also strive to educate

our members to be well-rounded women and the best versions of themselves. Check out Alpha Essentials by clicking on the link across the top of the page to find trainings and tools to help you land your dream job, manage your finances, be healthy, and become a better leader.

Be sure to click on the drop down option within Alpha Essentials where it says “Show Sessions For” to find trainings specific to what point you are at in your AOII membership.

4. My Favorite ResourcesDo you have a manual or resource that

you reference often? Save it as a favorite by clicking on the resource within the ORL and then clicking “Add resource to my favorites.” Your favorited resource will always show up along the left side of the page until you decide to remove it.

No longer need easy access to that manual or resource? Click on “More links” below “My Favorite Resources” along the left side of the page and then remove those you do not need.

5. The Standards of ExcellenceSure, you are aware you need to submit

the Standards of Excellence through the Fulfilling the Promise site, but not all chapters are updating it as standards are met. The Standards of Excellence site is best used as a real-time indicator of your chapter’s progress. Schedule time to discuss your chapter’s activities often (monthly or more often) so you don’t have to wait until the last minute to submit your standards.

One benefit to submitting as you complete standards is that you can get feedback from your assigned Network volunteers or Headquarters staff partners on your work. If for some reason they do not approve the submitted standard, you can resubmit as many times as you wish until the due date.
