Functions of the APM30 Power Cabinet

Table 2-1describes the functions of the APM30 power cabinet.

Table 2-1Functions of the APM30 power cabinet

    Function Description

Providing space for user devices The power cabinet provides a space of 5 U to

7 U for the user devices.

l Without batteries, the power cabinet

provides a space of 7 U for user devices.

l With the 48 V 24 Ah batteries, the power

cabinet provides a space of 5 U for user

    devices.

Providing backup power l The power cabinet can house two groups

of the 48 V 12 Ah batteries, which work as

    a 48 V 24 Ah battery system to provide

backup power supply for the distributedbase station in a limited duration.

l In connection with a battery cabinet, the

power cabinet can support a battery system

with the maximum capacity of 48 V 184

    Ah.

Built-in PSU l The PSU converts the input AC mains into

    -48 V DC power.

    l The PSU is hot-swappable.

Built-in PMU l The PMU manages the PSU and battery

    charging/discharging.

l The PMU provides the RS485 and the dry

contact alarm interfaces for remote control

    and attendance-free monitoring.

l The PMU supports the battery low voltage

disconnect (BLVD) and load low voltage

    disconnect (LLVD) functions.

    l The PMU is hot-swappable.

    Function Description

AC power distribution l With the different built-in AC/DC power

systems, the power cabinet supports 220 V

    single-phase, 110 V dual-live-wire, and

    220 V three-phase AC inputs.

l Provides two AC power outputs.

DC power distribution Refer to Table 2-2.

Providing surge protection for the power and

    signal ports

The power cabinet provides reliable surge

and inducting lightning protection for the

power and signal ports, by means of the surge

protection module and the surge protection

    circuit respectively.

Heat dissipation The power cabinet implements heat

dissipation through a combination of onefilter and two fans, thus achieving good

    temperature adaptability.

Grounding The grounding bus of the cabinet and the

PGND cables of the surge protector and other

devices are all connected to the grounding bar

    of the cabinet.

Functions of the APM30 Transmission Cabinet

The APM30 transmission cabinet provides DC power supply and installation space for user

devices, as shown in Table 2-3.

Table 2-3Functions of the transmission cabinet

    Function Description

    Providing -48

    V DC power

    supply

The transmission cabinet is configured with -48 V DCDU and performs the

    following functions:

    l Supports one -48 V DC input

    l Provides nine -48 V DC power outputs: LOAD0 to LOAD8. LOAD0

supplies power to the fans. LOAD1-LOAD8 supply power to the

    transmission equipment.

    Providinginstallation

    space for user

    devices

    l

The transmission cabinet provides a space of 11 U for installing userdevices.

l When the heater is installed in the cabinet, a space of 1 U is required.

    Reporting

    alarms

The transmission cabinet provides three dry contact alarm interfaces for

    remote control and attendance-free monitoring.

l Dry contact 1: connects the door status sensor. An open contact means

"faulty", and a closed contact means "normal".

l Dry contact 2: connects the DCDU surge protector. An open contact

means "faulty", and a closed contact means "normal".

    l

Dry contact 3: connects the APMI. An open contact means "faulty", anda closed contact means "normal". The possible faults include the fan

failure, temperature sensor failure, internal overtemperature or

    undertemperature.

    2.2 Applications of the APM30

The APM30 can work with the distributed base station and the separated base station, and can

meet the requirements of different applications.

APM30 Working with the Distributed Base Station

The scenario that the APM30 works with a distributed base station is as follows:

l The APM30 provides a space of 7 U for installing the BBU and transmission equipment,

and has a built-in power system to supply -48 V DC power to the distributed base station

and transmission equipment. Meanwhile, the APM30 charges the batteries.

l In the absence of mains, the distributed base station and transmission equipment can be fed

by the -48 V DC power provided by batteries installed in the APM30 power cabinet or in

    the extension battery cabinet.

Figure 2-1shows the scenario that the APM30 power cabinet (with batteries inside) works witha distributed base station.
