Apostleship of PrayerHistory:

The AP is born in Vals, in 1844, in times of a missionary expansion of the Church

Page 3: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

The young Jesuits wanted to be missionaries now.

Father Gautrelet, the day of the feast of Saint Francis Xavier:

« We can be apostles

through prayer, offering

our lives, learning to do

God’s will in all things. »

The Daily Offering

God, our Father, I offer You my day.I offer You my prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys, and sufferings in union with Your Son Jesus’ Heart, Who continues to offer Himself in the Eucharist for the salvation of the world.May the Holy Spirit, Who guided Jesus, be my guide and my strength today so that I may witness to Your love. With Mary, the mother of our Lord and of the Church, I pray especially for this month's intentions as proposed by the Holy Father.

A new way of life!A Eucharistic way of life,

a way to live the Eucharist in daily life.

Page 8: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

A new way of life!• That values the simple

lives of simple people• Invited to collaborate in

Christ’s mission• Who are able to give high

spiritual value to their normal everyday chores.

…A way to Sanctity for the Christian of the Third Millennium.

Page 9: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

A new way of life!

• That shows Christians how to be apostles in all they do

• That opens their minds and their horizons, making them active members of the universal Church through their prayer and their service.

Today Where are we ?

In over 70 countries, with more than 40 million members.

The most numerous local APs :Brazil, Philippines, Madagascar, Italy, Angola, Portugal, and a few other countries…

Page 11: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

Two models :

The MOVEMENT model:In some places, the AP has taken the

form of a Movement

• Parish groups,• Diocesan directors,• Regular meetings,• Gatherings

Page 12: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

The SERVICE model:But the AP is above all a Church

service, not only a movement

• A spiritual way for today, • Easy, practical, simple and

profound. • I live my day with Jesus!

Page 13: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

Rooted in the Daily Offering, the

Eucharist and Baptism, with

devotional aspects, always

optional, such as the First

Fridays, Holy Hour, Consecration

to the Heart of Jesus, etc.

Not a spirituality among other spiritualities, not a movement among other movements, not a devotion among other devotions…

Rather a SPIRITUAL WAY, suitable for all spiritualities and for all Church movements.

Ecclesial …and at the same time very Ignatian:

With the AP – We start our day with a prompt response to the Eternal King (Sp. Ex.

91),– We renew daily our choice for the Standard of Christ (Sp. Ex. 136),– We orient our lives according to the Principle and Foundation: we

offer our lives to praise, reverence, and serve God our Lord , « choosing only what is most conducive for us to the end for which we are created » (Sp. Ex. 23, PF).

– We are reminded daily of the spiritual attitude that resumes the Exercises, offering ourselves by saying « Take, Lord, and receive … » (Sp.Ex. 234).

Page 16: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

A service to the Church and to all Christians, entrusted by the Holy

Father to the Society of Jesus

We help people join their lives and their prayer to the whole Church’s mission and prayer

Page 17: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

We live in a world in crisis, and

in a Church in crisis… But let’s

not forget that the word

« crisis » can mean danger

and opportunity.

Page 18: Apostleship of Prayer Eucharistic Youth Movement

…to seek and find God in all things!

The AP helps us find meaning and unity to our lives,

and it all makes new sense!
