The NEXT "St. Jude Fellowship Sunday” is scheduled for the Weekend of July 22/23 and will be held every 3rd Sunday of the month in the future.

The St. Jude Fellowship Sunday held in May was appreciated by all who attended. A nice effort by all workers and participants in attendance. Thank you for all who attended and donations. In order to have "Fellowship Sunday" continue, we are looking for volunteer sponsors who wish to bring refreshments to share. REGISTRATION FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR

From June 1st until July 31st, 2017 $25.00 for one child $45.00 for two or more children After August 1st, 2017 $30.00 for one child $55.00 for two or more children Baptismal certificates needed for each child not previously submitted. Book fee, if not previously paid, is $15.00 for each child. Please contact Linda Jones, Olga Miyar, or Cathy O’Donnell for further information. Register early to save money. If you need assistance with registration and/or book fees, please contact the religious education office.

CATECHISTS NEEDED!!!!!

We are in desperate need of catechists for our religious education program which begins in August. We need committed, dedicated individuals that enjoy working with children of all ages. You must be willing to attend bi-monthly meetings, attend classes to become a Certified Catechist in the Diocese of Orlando and must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check that is mandat-ed by the Diocese. Please contact Fr. Bart, Linda Jones or Olga Miyar if you are interested in this very special ministry.

ATTENTION PARENTS First day of classes for the new year will be Sunday, August 13, 2017. Parent orientation will be the same day at 8:45 am for grades K - 4 and 11:15 am for grades 5 - 12. All parents must attend.

Food Pantry St. Jude has a food pantry to assist those needing some assistance. There are two baskets in the foyer of the church to place your non- perishable food items.

Meek and Humble God

Jesus tells us in today's Gospel that he is "meek and humble of heart." Yet just a few lines before this, he says that he is equal to his Father, the almighty God. So how can the Son of God be both meek and mighty? Jesus' meekness meant doing the will of God completely. The

challenge for us comes in his words "learn from me." We must learn to do God's will as completely as Jesus did.

First, to be complete means that we do all that God wants from us. We cannot pick and choose what we want to do

and what we want to ignore. For example, we may reserve the right to decide which teachings of the Church we will

follow. But doing God's will completely means doing it without reservation.

Second, we may try to do all that God asks, but give up if something becomes too difficult. We may say we

forgive someone, for example, but when they reject that forgiveness, we become even angrier. We can learn from Jesus how to do each part of God's will to completion, as

VEN A MÍ

Una de las palabras de más consuelo en los evangelios están en la lectura de hoy. "Vengan a mí, todos los que están fatiga-dos y agobiados por la carga, y yo los aliviaré, . . . porque mi yugo es suave y mi carga ligera" (Mateo 11:28, 30). Algunas veces cargamos lo que parece ser una carga difícil, cargamos nuestra cruz. Pero quizá estemos cargando la cruz equivocada. Nuestra cruz, se nos promete, será suave y ligera. Pareciera que esto no es verdad cuando sufrimos la pérdida de un ser querido, quedamos desempleados, perdemos la casa o nuestro sustento. Pero si volteamos hacia Jesús, siempre encon-traremos el consuelo y amor bondadoso del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Los niños voltean hacia nosotros los adultos por consuelo y apoyo, pues Dios ha "escondido estas cosas a los sabios y entendidos, y las ha revelado a la gente sencil-la" (Mateo 11:25). Podemos aprender de los niños acerca de nuestra dependencia en Dios. Y Jesús nos dice "tomen mi yugo sobre ustedes y aprendan de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón" (Mateo 11:29). Una vez más, la humildad del Señor no revela arrogancia ni una falsa negación de su poder, sino que revela un reconocimiento de su amor por nosotros.
