JOB DESCRIPTION
Post: Greater Manchester Green Social Prescribing Programme (GSPP) Manager
Salary: £31,346.00 - £35,745.00 pro – rata plus pension
Hours of work: 22.5 per week
Location/Base: Manchester City Centre / Home Working
Contract: Fixed Term Contract to 31st March 2023

Greater Manchester (GM) has been successful in securing 2 years’ funding to develop the link between social prescribing and green community activity. The funding is part of a cross-government project run by multiple partners, including DHSC, DEFRA, Natural England, NHS England and Improvement, Public Health England, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, and the National Academy for Social Prescribing. This is part of a national programme of 7 sites across England, which have been disproportionally affected by Covid-19.
The project will test how to embed green social prescribing into communities to:
• Improve mental health outcomes,• Reduce health inequalities,• Reduce demand on the health and social care system, and• Develop best practice in making green social activities more resilient and accessible.
It has two key work strands to test out different initiatives to achieve these goals:1. A number of test and learn sites across GM with different place-based programmes of work.2. GM wide initiatives including training, a stakeholder group and a resource exchange.
We are seeking an experienced project manager with a passion for green activity, the environment, and the positive impact this has on wellbeing. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of this ‘green’ agenda and community development.
This post will be employed by The Bureau which have been the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) partner organisation for the person and community centred approaches (PCCA) team within the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership. This role will sit as part of The Bureau’s partnership team which will provide the social prescribing and GSPP lead function, and the social prescribing regional learning coordinator function for the PCCA team.
Overview of Role:To develop and deliver the Greater Manchester GSPP. To manage key work strands and deliverables, ensuring the programme is well managed and delivered to a high standard. This will include project management, reporting and developing excellent partnerships with our test and learn partners.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:This list may change and is not exhaustive. Co-designing and delivering the GM support offer to meet local system needs and maximise
shared outcomes.
Developing and implementing a collaborative approach to delivery of the ‘test and learn’ workstream, working closely with local systems and national colleagues.
Supporting the development and delivery of the GM ‘test and learn’ site local plans to embed green social prescribing in local systems, working closely with partners and the wider support structures at a GM and national level.
Operating as an effective advocate and ambassador for green social prescribing, engaging with senior managers and clinicians, raising awareness of the opportunities provided by green social prescribing and encouraging local innovation.
Leading the delivery of the ‘test and learn’ and GM wide workstreams, managing risks, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate them, and escalating any issues to the senior lead.
Working with colleagues across GM to collate and share the learning throughout the life of the programme.
Writing briefing papers and updates for key stakeholders.
Supporting and ensuring synergy with the wider delivery aspects of the PCCA programme.
Using the learning from the project to inform and influence the wider development of social prescribing and emerging workstreams, around ‘asset based destination themes’.
Actively promoting the project, building wider interest in green social prescribing amongst key stakeholder groups and organisations.
Managing the workstream budget, ensuring flow of funding to the ‘test and learn’ sites and ensuring appropriate use of funds by the sites.
Building strong working relationships with key staff members in partner organisations.
Working closely with senior lead and wider team to solve problems and take joint leadership of the programme.
Being aware of wider strategy and the personalised care agenda making sure knowledge and understanding is kept up to date.
Being an active part of the person and community centred approaches (PCCA) team, contributing to the team and shared initiatives.
Being a key point of contact across GM for GSPP.
Maintaining clear records to identify and mitigate programme delivery risks, and producing reports for a variety of audiences, including supporting regular update reports (including to NHS England).
Ensuring accurate recording of data within IT systems.
Creating a picture of key learning points and themes.
Attending meetings and producing presentations as required.
Designing and facilitating group workshops.
Acting as a representative of the Bureau and the PCCA team, being true to its aims and

objectives.
Ensuring the effective delivery of wellbeing in practice within its key milestones.
