ResNet® Updates
• Thank you for choosing Pathway Studio! Elsevier provides
subscribers with quarterly updates to the ResNet Mammalian
database and biannual updates to the ResNet Plant database.
• The size of each update will vary based on the amount of unique
data published and recovered.
• We provide these instructions to help make it easy for you to obtain
the latest data into Pathway Studio!

Benefits of the ResNet Updates
• Applying updates insures that you’re accessing the latest
information published in PubMed, extracted by Elsevier using our
latest generation of literature extraction technology.
• Future updates may contain additional reference pathway update
information in addition to the regular entity and relation updated
information added to the ResNet database.
• Any changes you have made to pathways in the reference collection
may be lost. Copy modified pathways out of the reference pathway
folder and into your project folder to keep the changes.

here. Make sure to only apply the
update that matches your database!
Applying the Update
The next steps will describe applying the update to your local database.
If an update is large, it can take several hours (3-6 hr) to install depending
on the speed of and memory of your computer.
We recommend starting the update in the evening and allowing it to run
overnight.

Apply The ResNet Update
1. Start Pathway Studio, Select: Database >
Apply Data Updates….
2. The Import Wizard will open.

3. Select Add and identify
the location of the file
on your computer.
4. Click “Open.”

5. The file will appear in
the Data Files dialog.
6. Click “Next.”

7. The import process will begin. It is recommended to allow this
step to run overnight.

The update may run for several
hours and should not be
interrupted. During this
period, Pathway Studio cannot
be used.
If the update is interrupted, restart it
at step 1 until it will complete
start to finish.
Records already updated will be
skipped over.

Completing The ResNet Update
When the update has completed, you will be shown statistics.
Press “Finish” to dismiss the dialog.
The update is fully applied and Pathway Studio is available for use!
