Later this month we will gather atNiagara Alliance Church inWheatfield for District and PrayerConference. Much planning and preparation has gone into this three dayevent by all of us in the District Office, by the pastor and congregation atNiagara Alliance and by many of you who bear responsibility for some

aspect of Conference. I hope by now you have sent in your registration andmade arrangements for travel and accommodations.

Open Doors, the theme for our Conference conjures up many thoughtsworthy of our prayerful consideration before, during and after our timetogether. The Bible has many references to open doors, so its a good topicfor us to zero in on, not only in our evening services but also in ourCommittee meetings and business sessions. We will be careful to keep thistheme before us visually and verbally throughout the week.

Sometime in the 90s District and Prayer Conference became theofficial title of our Annual District Meeting. Im very thankful that theemphasis on prayer was included. It would be too easy for us to cometogether, hear reports, make and debate recommendations, hold elections, gather for meals, etc. and never think much about praying. MaintainingPrayer in the title reminds us that this is the primary work of our gatheringand compels us to pray throughout our time together.

We will live this priority in several ways. There will be a prayer time eachmorning at 8:30 please be there! Each business session will begin withprayer and will be peppered with prayer as reports are heard and

considered. Prayer and fasting at noon on Tuesday together with prayerwalking opportunities will further focus our dependence on the Lord for Hispower to work among us.

I am excited to see all of you in Wheatfield, to fellowship and hear aboutyour lives and ministries. But above all, I look forward to praying with you.

    Keep looking up,

    Dan

Spring is a wonderful time to clean up and clean out! Recently God gaveUpstate NY a special gift with a week of unseasonably warm weather! Cabinfever neighbors in our development were out like ants at a picnic manicuring thlawns, cleaning garages and sheds and removing the unwanted gritty sand alothe road left by the snow plows.

In a few short weeks, C&MA Official Workers and Delegates will be emergingupon the campus of Niagara Alliance Church for our Annual District & PrayerConference. As you pack your belongings for this trip, dont forget to packanother bagof clothing items (see the ad below) to assist and encourage theministry of Moses and Enas, church planters with Grace Point Alliance. Mosesand Enas are often called upon to assist refugees (especially those from Iraq) tsettle into the Buffalo area. Thank you in advance for taking advantage of thistangible Open Door of Opportunity to encourage Moses and Enas. Expertsstate that America is the third largest mission field and we are seeing the missiofield arriving on our shores, especially in Buffalo. May the Lord be glorified aspeople from every tribe and nation are reached for Him!

The passion of Christians who lovedGod a generation or two ago challenges me. A.B. Simpson, A.W. Tozer, R.A. Torrey, Hannah Whitall Smith,Amy Carmichael, and Elizabeth Prentiss are a few of my favorites. They had a commitment and depth that Ilack and I want.

Ive heard the old-time Camp stories of the Holy Spirit moving and people placing their jewelry, wedding, and engagement rings in the offering plate. Where did those days go? Why are my rings still onmy fingers? Does the Holy Spirit speak to hearts today as He did 100 years ago? Absolutely!

Soon jewelry will be missing from the hands of Mary Jo Kowalewski and Lesley Paparone who

attend New Life Fellowship in Saratoga Springs. They traveled to Bosnia; saw the empty eyes, the hopelessfaces, and the need to tell the lost sheep in Sarajevo that there is a Shepherd. Selling their engagementrings and giving the money to fund a Community Center in Sarajevo was their response. They talk of havingtheir husbands names engraved on their wedding ring fingers. Hallelujah! God is at work in my generation. You can read about it at http://jewelsforbih.blogspot.com.

Hearing this story brought Amy Carmichael to my mind. She wrote, God never wore a chain of gold.He wore a crown of thorns. His hands and feet were not jeweled, but pierced. Yes, Gods hands arepierced not just with nails, but with a tattoo. He said, I will not forget you! See I have engraved you on thepalms of my hands; Isaiah 49:16.

I pray that Lesley and Mary Jo will gaze at their tattooed fingers and be blessed by the One Who hasthem engraved in the palms of His Hands.

As Christ followers, we need to be alert to the Holy Spirits leading as He uses us to complete the

Great Commission. God may not ask us to give up our prized possessions even though He gave up His.Jesus has not yet directed me to sell my engagement ring, but He does desire I be sold out for Him. ThisEaster I ask myself, Do I love Jesus? Do I truly love Him? Would I give to Him anything He asks of me?IsHis Name engraved in my heart?

Feed His sheep and be blessed by His love for you, Elaine
