What Does It Mean To You?A Resurrected ChristDo You Believed

It Really Happened? Some Do Some Do Not!

T hose that accept the Bible as the Holy Inspired, Inerrant Word of God believe it the rest of the people do not believe it. Some believe that Jesus was and is GodsSon others do not. Some believe that He was virgin born and that His birth wasa miracle some do not. Some believe that he actually lived among men on earth withoutever committing a sin others believe that He was just a teacher or prophet with no personalrelationship to God. Some believe He came to give himself as a sacri ce for mans sin, shedHis blood and died on the cross others see His death as just another criminal that was putto death. Some believe that God raised Him from the dead completing His plan of salvationand giving believers real hope others do not believe any part of the resurrection. Somebelieve He is coming back to receive believers to Himself. That is why Paul wrote thesewords of encouragement in I Corinthians 15:19, If in this life only we have hope in Christ,we are of all men most miserable.Others do not believe in His return. They believe thatyour heaven or hell is right here on earth and that when you die it is all over. But, THANKGOD, we have a risen living Savior that is going to return one day (and I believe it will be

very soon). We have this promise, which is just one of many, from the two men that stoodby Jesus as He ascended into heaven, . . . .why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This sameJesus which is taken up from you into heaven shall so come in like manner as ye have seenHim go into heaven. Acts 1:11.

T he resurrection of our Lord and Savior , Jesus Christ should be the most significant event in the life of any Christian exceptfor their own salvation experience. Theresurrection solidi es our faith, gives us hope and

assures us eternal life with Him (because He lives, wealso shall live). Paul tells us in I Corinthians 15:19,If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of

all men most miserable. He continues, but now isChrist risen from the dead. Then Paul recalls the lifeof Christ in I Corinthians 15:3-4, how that Christ died

for our sins according to the scriptures; and He was buried, and He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

I am so thankful that what the scriptures says happenedas they were prophesied and our hope for a resurrectedeternal life was made possible by Christs victory overdeath. Yes, because He lives we will also live. Do youhave this hope?

The soon return of our Lord is at hand, it has beenpromised and whether or not you believe it, it isimmanentit is going to happen! Can we say withJohn, even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus? If youcannot say this or if you are not ready for His return, It

is my prayer that you will get ready nowbefore it iseternally too late!

Are You In recovery? Usually we think of people with drug and /or alcoholproblems as being the only ones in recovery. But,

    just what is recovery?

The dictionary tells us that to recover means to reclaim, rescue or regain something that we previously had. Now, in a spiritual sense, that means ALL of us are inrecovery!

Man was created in the image of God, but because of the sin of Adam, we have been separated from God.When we receive the gift that Christ offers us in thecross and resurrection we are made new again andspiritually reborn. Praise the Lord!

So, in a real sense, all of us Christians are in recovery. We are all dealing with daily taking our crosses andfollowing Christ. We are ALL dealing with sin in ourlife that corrupts our communion with God. We areALL overcoming old thought patterns, old hurts andold habits.

Gods offer of New Life in Christ Jesus makes trueRECOVERY possible for all of us. In essence, recoveryis what the Christian life is all about. We are growing

in Christ (hopefully) and becoming more and moreformed into the image of Christ. Bro. Do

Old Friends Old Friends are not forgotten

Whenever they depart. They occupy a special place

    Deep within the heart.

Years and years of memories Do not quickly fade away.

The dreams you shared together Are not lost in yesterday.

    The pain of separation

May linger for a night. But joy comes in the morningWhen everything is bright.

Old friends are not forgottenWhen new friends come along.

There is always room for someone newTo help you sing your song.

MEMORIESThe Old Hymns how I do love them. Here is onethat is a standard but I have not heard it in a very longtime. It also kinda reminds me of Easter. See if youthink so or see if you even remember it.

    In The G arden

    I come to the garden alone,While the dew is still on the roses;

And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,The Son of God discloses.

    He speaks, and the sound of His voice,Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;

And the melody that He gave to me,Within my heart is ringing.

    Id stay in the garden with Him,Tho the night around me be falling;

But He bids me go thru the voice of woe,His voice to me is calling.

Chorus:And He walks with me,And He talks with me,

And He tells me I am His own,And the joy we share as we tarry there,

    None other has ever known.

Worth Thinking About!Let your light shine before men, that they may seeyour good works, and glorify your Father which is inheaven Matthew 5:16.

The Lord is near unto them that call upon Him intruth Psalms 145:18.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the thingswhich God hath prepared for them that love HimI Corinthians 2:9

Jesus said, If thou can believe, all things are possibleto him that believeth Mark 9:23.

What a wonderful time we have at theAnchorage Gospel Rescue Mission atEaster! Mrs. Charlotte is tireless in herefforts to make the Mission a place

where our homeless men, women, and children canexperience what Easter should be like at home. Shetries to provide, especially the children who spend theday with us, an atmosphere of warmth, joy, and love.An atmosphere where all can enjoy a homemade mealwith all the trimmings. Yes this is a home cooked mealbecause it has been prepared by our volunteer moms, dads, daughters, and sons not unlike your meal athome. They come to the Mission with a heart to serveand nd themselves being served with joy, love andgratitude from those who otherwise would have spentthe day alone and depressed. Thanks to all of you whosupport this Mission in its quest to share love and hopethese men, women, and children are able to take aprecious pause in their lives and, just for a moment, not worry about where they will sleep or what they will

eat. Your love has given them respite! I wish you allcould experience the joy on a childs face when theyare told they can take the Easter basket full of candyand stuffed toys with them when they go. For many of

these children it will be the rst time they have had abasket of their own. Their faces change from disbelief to absolute joy at having their very own Easter basket.

T here is also a Special Easter Service heldin our chapel for those who spend the dayhere at the Mission. After all this is Easterand therefore the story of Christ and theresurrection must be told as a way to remind us all whata wonderful gift God has given to us all by breakingthe hold deaths grip had on our lives. Christ hasrisen and this has set us all free! While the service isunder way the volunteers are busy cooking away in thekitchen making sure the feast is just right. All the mealshere at the Mission are prepared with love but there issomething special about the Easter meal that brings out

our A-game. We all seem to try just a little harder onEaster day. The signi cance of this day is not lost onanyone here at the Mission.

Once the service is over and the meal has beenenjoyed the men, women, and children whoshared this day with us will disburse andgo their separate ways. For those who are

fortunate enough to have a place to call home they willcarry the memory of Christ and his resurrection withthem. For those who will be staying the night they willshower and snuggle down in a warm bed with cleansheets as they re ect on Christ and his resurrection. However for those who have no place to call home andwas not among the lucky few able to get one of thefew beds available at the Mission they will be forced tosleep out in the cold. I cant say with any certainty theywill be able to re ect on Christ and his resurrectionthrough their misery. Because of our inability to provideadequate bed space they need your prayers the most on

    this Easter day.

A ll the staff along with the men in ourNewLife Discipleship Training Program

would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Charlotte for all the things she does for

us. She is tireless in her efforts to make sure our guestexperience a taste of home. She also acts as a surrogatemother to all the men here at the Mission. There is nota person here who does not believe they are loved bythis wonderful woman. Her and Bro. Don will celebratetheir 59th weeding anniversary at the end of this month. All of their sons, here at the Mission would like towish them a happy anniversary and especially a HappyEaster.

    He Has Risen!

Look at God, he made man, yet He is sopowerful He still lets us use our voices tomove mountains. My mountain was so tall at one point that it casted a shadow over my lifethat made it even impossible to see the sunrise. While growing up as a kid I struggled withwatching my mothers drinking and how it affected me and my brother and sisters lives.I look back and see how we use to hide in thecorner while she drank and started fights withour father. There were other times where she

tried to kill herself, ounce right in front of us.I felt so angry as a kid because even as a kidI knew this was all wrong. After seeing thedifference between how my friends lived andhow I lived I blamed God for the unfairnessof life. The fighting got real bad when I wasseven years old. It got so out of hand onetimes my dad threaten to kill my mother andthen himself. I hate to think it but there weretime when I wished he had done it just so that I and my siblings could get some peace.

After several more years they finally got adivorce. I suppose they thought things wouldget better, they didnt. All they did was argue. They fought over things like which child would

live with which parent. I finally went to go livewith my dad along with my brother and sister. The funny thing is I swore I would NEVERend up like my mother and father. The sadreality is both my brother and I became severealcoholics. The saddest part of all this startedwhen I was thirteen years old.

It is sad to think that I havent seen my brotherin 20 years, he lives in California and I live uphere in Alaska. Hes been in and out of prison

for robbery from his drug and alcohol abuseand has messed his brain up enough to wherehe cant think straight for himself anymore.I wasnt doing much better. Granted I hadnt been to prison, yet, however I had receivedthree D.U.I.s prior to moving to Alaska inSeptember of 1990. My first D.U.I. came in1986 during the time when I was supposed

to graduate High School. My next one camein 1989 and I received another in 1990. WhenI moved to Alaska I was hoping things wouldbe different. I was wrong; nothing had reallychanged inside of me. I received two moreD.U.I.S one in 2001 the other in 2007 makingthat five in all.

In the twenty years Ive lived in Alaska Ive

been through nine treatment centers. Despiteall the head knowledge I learned the longest Ive been able to stay sober is three years. Now that I think about it at least half of mytime in Alaska has been spent in treatment

struggling to stay sober. I suppose Im morelike my brother than I first thought. My prisonhas been self imposed.

This is my second time being homeless frommy disease and not knowing what to do withmy life. I entered the NewLife DiscipleshipTraining Program at the Rescue Mission. Bybeing here, learning to be a Disciple of Christ and helping others has started to humble meand change my outlook on life. One of thestories that best fits my attitude is the one

of Moses taking the Israelites into the desert away from Egypt and out of slavery. Theystill complained and grumbled after, throughGod, Moses was able to show them miracles, but they were blind to them because of theirmurmuring. Thats how my life has been until I

was able to see it doesnt have to be a mountainthat needs to be moved, when you choose to

give yourself over to Christ. Ive been recentlybaptized on February, 13 th and the convictionof the Holy Spirit has been overwhelming, Imcoming up on a year here now and throughthe faith in Christ my mountain has become ahill and the light is shining down to where Hecan nourish and let me grow Amen
