Fathers Day!To all of the Fathers that receive this newsletter.May you have a happy and joyful time onthis Day that is set aside to recognize Fathers.
You may be an old father or a young father or a
grandfather but we all like to show off our children
and grandchildren and boast about how good they
are in sports or academic achievements. We all like to throw out our chest and say,
thats my kid. However in this world that we live in today with all of the violence,
disrespect for parents, rude, untamed and irreverence that we see among youngpeopleI wonder, Dads if we are setting the right example for them to follow.
Does the younger generation see Christ in our lives daily? The way we respond to
negative situations that we may encounter; the way we handle disappointments and
set backs in our own live.
I truly hope that we are trying to set the right example for our young people to
see and follow or for anyone that may observe our life-style. Then we will be like
the man referred to in Psalms 1:3, he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of
water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; andwhatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Happy Fathers Day
May You receive a special blessing on this Your day!

Each morning when I arrive at the Mission I never know what to expect. Is everything all right? Did
something break down? Was it a freezer or furnace that quit working? Was there an emergency
and someone had to be taken to the hospital? Maybe some of our guest clients are unhappy because
of some rule that interferes with their life style. Or, perhaps the person that was suppose to be in
charge of the Chapel service did not show and staff had to conduct the service. It could be any number of
things that just happenbut God is always there and He watches over things for us and we have never really
had a crises situation. God is so good.
Then with in-kind donations, when supplies get low and the cupboards is getting bare, God always sends
someone by to donate just the things that are needed. Also, with financial giftsGod has really given us some
devoted and caring donors that are concerned for this ministry and has helped up to continue serving the
needs of homeless people. Not that we are wealthy or serve porter house steaks, but God has provided for our
needs through kind benevolent friends that are interested in providing for us that we may make life a little
better for some. Without you we could do nothing. I am so thankful that you have permitted the Lord to use
you to sustain this ministry.
We could go on all day about the way God provides for this ministry, but to mention one other part of the
ministry that we are privileged to offer to those that want it is the NewLife Discipleship Program. We arealways excited about what happens in the lives of the men that enter this program. The most exciting thing is
when they accept Christ as their Savior. But after that to watch them as they mature and grow in grace and
knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and to see them as they become new creations in Christ. And, again, let me
repeat that we could do nothing without you following Gods leadership in your life to support this ministry.
God Is So Good !
God is so good, God is so good,God is so good, Hes so good to me
And to all of us!
Will you just now take a moment and thank God for all th
He has done for you and for this ministry.

Expressions of Gods Love
Because God loves you,
Rain comes in the spring,
Flowers bloom in vibrant hues,
Birds have a song to sing.
Because God loves you,
Winter snow is white,
Trees are forever green
Stars shine every night!
The universe was created
By Gods mighty hand.
Every prayer is answered
By His will and plan.
The reason why the sun shines,
Why the sky above is blue,
Why faith makes all things possible
Is because of Gods love for you!
Another TripDown Memory Lane
You know it really saddens my heart to listen to
sermons on the radio or watch them on Television and
there is NO old time Gospel music or Hymns. (Mostly
someone playing a piano so loud that you cannot
understand what they are singing about). I truly love
the old church music that had a message and touchedthe heart. Here is another favorite of mine you may
or may not remember. Let me know if you do not
remember this one.
A Child of the King!
My Father is rich in houses and lands,
He holdeth the wealth
Of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds,
Of silver and gold, His coffers are full,He has riches untold.
My Fathers own Son, the Savior of men,
Once wandered on earth
As the poorest of them;
But now He is pleading
Our pardon on high,
That we may be His,
When He comes by and by.
I once was an outcast,
Stranger on earth,A sinner by choice
And an alien by birth;
BUT IVE BEEN ADOPTED
My name written down,
An heir to a mansion,
A robe and a crown.
A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
Theyre building a palace
For me over there;
Tho exiled from home,
Yet still I may sing, All glories to God,
Im a child of the King.
Chorus:
Im a child of the king,
A child of the king!
With Jesus my Savior,
Im a child of the King!

The most important thing a father can do
for his children is to love their mother.
Theordore Hesburgh
The perfect Fathers Day GiftDear Dad,
On your 96th birthday I recall all the things you have done for me, and things we have done together,
and I find the list really long. I thank the Lord for blessing me with a dad like you. There are so many
memories that flood my mind and so many godly qualities that I see in you that I desire for my own life.
When I was young I can recall the memories that meant a lot to me. There are several that helped me torun the race. I learned what it meant to stay focused, and how it took time to master the race. The first
one I recall is the game of chess. It taught me to be focused, and look ahead. There were many games
that I would lose, and I was still determined to get better. As I progressed you challenged me more by
putting the queen back into play. I was learning to be better, and not quit. That summer I entered in the
contest of the chess tournament, and I placed first. Because you took the time to teach me and stay the
course, I was rewarded.
Of course, everyone wants first place. Everyone wants to win the gold medal. That is where the prestige
is. It was one of many races I was blessed with to share with you. It was one of many examples of what
a Dad does that I cherished. It was one of many that we were able to share. As a Dad, you were Faithful
to run this race, and stay true to the course that God set before you.
The second one is when you came to Alaska. It meant a lot to me to have that time together. It was
even more fun to take you fishing. The one time we went to the Deshka River to fish for Kings, that was
awesome. We went out on the boat, and waited till 6:00am before we could put a line in the water. I told
everyone that this was the best time to catch a King. If you didnt catch one in the first hour, it was going
to be a long day. I caught the first one in twenty minutes, and while I was getting my fish in the cooler,
you hooked one as well. Prayers were answered that moment. I may have caught the first one, but you
caught the biggest one.
Of course there were many trips as a family we would take. The big one in 1964, the trip to Los Angeles,
the many picnics from church, and the Post Office, the one trip we made together going to Yosemite
before I left to Basic Training in San Diego, and the countless other places weve been. Thank you forthe sacrifices you made to make those trips happen; we were all blessed having you there.
There are so many character qualities that I admire about you. Your wisdom, consistency, endurance,
patience, sound judgment, inner strength, integrity, knowledge, understanding, self-control, your get
the job done attitude, doing what is right no matter what the cost, and how you see everything in light
of eternity. It is neat to see your natural leadership come through in every situation. You always have an
encouraging word and a motivating spirit. You have laid a foundation in my life, and this family, that
will take us to heights I never would have been able to reach otherwise.
Its because of you, that I am, where I am today. You have ingrained many character qualities in me by
your patient, insightful, and wise instruction. You taught me the importance of quality work, to do my
best at whatever Im doing, and how to persevere.
I am proud of you Dad for running this race of life, and I know one day there is a reward in heaven
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the
sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Hebrews 12:1

5A father is someone who carries picturesin his wallet where his money used to be
waiting for you. It wont be because of how much you have done. It will be based on how faithful you
were to what God called you to do. The same is true for all of us. Our reward will be based on how
faithful we are to what God has called us to do.
The apostle Paul presents the same principle in Philippians 3:10: That I may know Him and the power
of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. . . . Paul was
saying, This is why I am doing itmy purpose for running this race is to know Jesus Christ. That is
what mattered to him. And that is what should matter to us.
Dad, knowing you have prayed, and acknowledged that Jesus has been accepted into your life, the final
reward is in Heaven. Dad, you persevered running this race for Jesus, He is the One we all should be
running for.

Our Kitchen Manager,Tom, presented this letter to his father on Thanksgiving day 2007. Thanks toToms willingness to share his feeling for his father Mr. Ruggles finished out his life fully aware how
precious he was in his sons eye. Joseph Avery Ruggles died February 4th 2010 at the age of 98 the
way a man should die, with his son by his side.

Dear Doug,I write this letter with difficulty because I labor under the weight of regret which makes my penheavy. I cannot help but wonder at my propensity to be selfish with my feelings rather thanshare them with the people I hold most dear in my life. Recognizing this malady does nothingto shield me from the pain my heart now feels. My defense being the notion, I had no idea timwould be so short seems empty to my grieving heart. The truth is I should have told you longago how I felt about you and I didnt. Now youre no longer here and I cant. How foolish
does my stoic nature seem now? Even at this moment the words dont come easily becausemy instinct is to keep my feelings to myself. But I know I need to voice my thoughts, as apreventive measure, so that I dont make this same mistake with those who are yet reachable. One dosage of lifetime regret is enough for me.
The first thing I want to say is I Love you. Its ironic saying something so simple can be sohard for me to do. I suppose its a man thing. I feel foolish because you were a friend to mewhen I needed one the most. The first day we met you reached out and shook my hand andinvited me into your life. My mind kept returning to that handshake as I held your handin those final days. You never turned your back on me and I never felt judged by you. You
corrected in love and loved in correction.
I must confess there were times when I wanted torunfrom the room rather than face my emotionsas youlay dying. I had to fight the urge because that wouldbe just more of the same old thing. Im heartsick andI have no one to blame but myself.
Im sure you knew our friendship had a firmfoundation in love I just wish I had had the courage
to voice that love. Foregive me my friend for thatweakness. Although late I loved you dearly.Rest in peace my friend.
I Love youDavid

Friends Forever!
Before i t s t oo la te !Is there someone in your life who you care about but for whatever reason
have yet to tell them? In Proverbs 16:23 were told a wise mans heart guides
his mouth. In that case I find myself to be quite foolish. You see I kept my
tongue about how I felt about someone who was dear to my heart and now I
must forever regret that mistake. So as a Fathers day reminder to everyone
out their dont let what happened to me happen to you. Tell those you love,
you love them. Dont live to regret keeping your feelings to yourself.

My ShepherdI feel the hand of God on me like a friend to whom I am known, Leading me down better roads than I would take alone.
His guidance helps me through the days when I need His help to cope. And at night, He gives me peace and rest And
soothes my heart with hope.
I feel the love of Christ in me, the love He said I would know, if I would just put my trust in Him and let my hatreds go.
And so I will hate no man again the way I have done before. Instead, I do the best I can to go and sin no more.
The hand of God, the love of Christ are in my daily life, and now I live in love and peace where once I dwelt in strife.
My life is richer now by far than anything before, for my Shepherd leads me in His steps on the path to Heavens door.By Bill Hazel
