About Your Will
Have you included the Anchorage Gospel Rescue
Mission in your Will or Estate? If not will you please
consider including us. It would, indeed, be a blessing
to the ministry here and it could have eternal rewards
for you! We average about 1 person per day making a
profession of faith in Jesus Christ and accepting Him
as their Savior. We do provide food and shelter for themany people that come to us for help. But, our main
concern is the spiritual condition of a person and their
relationship with Jesus Christ. By including us in
your Will or Estate you can continue to have a part in
this ministry.
Only Believe! All things are PossibleIf Youll Only Believe.
god leads us alongIn shady green pastures,
So rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the waters cool flow
Bathes the weary ones feet,
God leads His dear children along.
Sometimes on the mountWhere the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley
In the darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.
Tho sorrows befalls us,
And Satan oppose,
God leads His dear children along;
Through grace we can conquer,
Defeat all our foes,God leads His dear children along.
Away from the mire,
And away from the clay,
God leads His Dear children along;
Away up in glory, Eternitys day,
God leads His dear children along.
Chorus:
Some thro the waters,
Some thro the floods, Some thro the fire,
But all thro the blood;
Some thro great sorrow,
But God gives a song;
In the night season and all the day long.
Continuing Needs!
Have you looked at the list of continuing
needs on the back of this newsletter?
Everything on this list is needed and used
every day here at the Mission. Would you
supply one or more of these needs for us.
We would sure appreciate it. Perhaps you
could take the list with you when you do
youre shopping and just pick up and extra
one for the Mission. Also, we have a need
for mens socks and pants or jeans.
Use ones will be just fine for us.
Thanks, Bro. Don

Dads What Does YourLife-Style Say To Your
Children?
To all of the Fathers that receive this newsletter, mayyou have a happy and joyful time on this day that is set
aside to recognize Fathers.
You may be an older father or a young father or a
grandfather but we all like to show off our children and
grandchildren and boost about how good they are in
sports or academic achievements. We all like to throw
out our chest and say, thats my kid.
However, in this world that we live in today with all of
the violence, disrespect for parents, rude, untamed andirreverence that we see among kids and young people
I can not help but wonder, Dads, if we are setting the
right example for them to follow.
Do they really see Christ in our life daily, the way we
respond to negative situations that we may encounter,
the way we handle disappointments and set backs in
our life, the opportunity we take to stretch the truth and
are we completely honest in all of our dealings with
people.
I truly hope that we are trying to set the right example
for our young people to see and follow. Then, we will
be like the man referred to in Psalms 1:3, he shall be
like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth
forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
May you receive a special blessing
On this day!
the simple joys
They miss so much who do not knowThe simple joys of long ago
When life was lived with easy pace,
And hearts said table grace.
When folks took time to be a friend,
A helping hand, so quick to lend.
When houses had a front porch swing,
(Oh, how we loved that creaky think!)
On summer evenings friends would call
And they were welcomed, one and all,
And Mom would serve homemade ice creamAs laughter from the porch would stream.
And vendors came to sell their wares;
The fun filled trips to county fairs.
The concerts at the old bandstands
When music was so very grand!
They miss so much who never knew
Old-Fashioned joys, such as I do.
The village church so gleaming whiteIts steeple bells that rang each night,
The solace that we all found there
As we met for a time of prayer.
Our values were quite different then,
Oh, time, cant I go back again.
We were not rich in days of yore,
But we had blessings by the score;
Our wealth was found in many things
From which the souls contentment springs,
Our home was filled with so much love,Deep faith was ours in God above.
How much they miss who do not know
The lovely joys found long ago.
I wish that they could share with me
My pleasure trip in memory
Back to the good old-fashioned days
When life was lived in simple ways!

I was raised in a small religious village where everyone knows
each others.
Being the youngest boy of the family and being named after
grandpa, I was spoiled.
I always wanted everything to go my way. Every Sunday, Iwent to church. I really didnt like going to church because I
had to behave in there. I did it to get money.
Growing up in a village, Ive seen many violent drunks. I didnt
like them because they would make us scared. I once told my
mom and myself that I will hurt them when I grow up and I
kept my word to it. When I got to my teens, I started stealing
money for drugs. Later years, I started stealing booze from
my uncle. I then got my friends to follow me in what I did. Igot them started with drugs and alcohol. In those years of my
mid teens, I stopped believing the teachings about God. The
reason why I stopped believing in God is because I couldnt
see Him by sight. I gave up and became a devil worshiper to
have attention by drunks and drug addicts. Thats when they
started sharing their drugs and alcohol with me. When my
family and relatives found out what I was doing, they stopped
giving me money. I then became a violent and angry person. I
wanted to destroy lives that believed in Jesus Christ. I wantedthem dead.
One day, I woke up depressed and angry from not having any
drugs. I went out and looked but there was none around. Later
that night, I went out with a shotgun to go kill myself.
Standing there with my fin
remembered the words that
for one last chance to reveal
trigger. It didnt go off!!! I t
went off by itself. I got angr
in God.
I went up the mountain and sof what everyone had told

e trigger, I started doubting. I
pa told about hell. I asked God
o me. I waited and pulled the
rrel away from my chest and it

ways. I thought of the teachings

started having dreams. I once
out of me!!! I then told myself
I had. I went to jail for a year.
Thats when I started seeing
the dreams I had. A friend
of mine that once was in my
dream was there with me.
He was in the same cell. One
day, he took me out for a bible
study. Thats when I got saved.I accepted Jesus as my Lord
and my savior and from that
time on, I thought life would
come easy. It hasnt.
At times, I stumble when I try
go my way. Ive been trying
and trying to let God go my
way but... it doesnt work likethat. Now, Im learning to let
go and let God have his way
in me. Ive been blessed and
I thank God for his way, his
truth, and the New Life that
I have through him.
God bless you always. BE

Thank You!
We Recently had a
wonderful blessing
from one of our faithfulcontributors, who shall
remain anonymous.
She called and expressed
God had touched her
heart to do something
for the men in our
NewLife Recovery
Program.
This expression of love
came in the from of a
pair of brand new blue
jeans for each and every
man in the program.
This gift made the men
feel special and it also
let them know their
recovery efforts arevalued.
Therefore we would like
to express our heart felt
thanks for the gift of this
person and the gift she
so lovingly gave.

Most of our computers in the Learning Center are at
least five years old. For those familiar with computer
technology you know how archaic a five year old
computer is. We are updating our computer lab in stagestherefore the Mission needs two new computers for our
Learning Center.
It is part of our normal
procedure to present our
needs to our supporters
via this newsletter. We
then wait patiently for
a response and once we
have it we begin to seek
diligently for the best
deal possible. The reason
we do things this way is
because we feel strongly
our responsibility as
stewards of your money
is a sacred trust. A trust
we do not take lightly.
However, this time we
have found ourselves inan unfamiliar situation. We came across the good deal
before we could make the request. We have been given
the opportunity to get two Dell computers that are
regularly priced at $699.00 each for only $429.00 each.
After much discussion it was decided that we would
step out in faith and purchase the computers before the
sale period expired.
Although this particular situation is new to us stepping
out in faith is not.
Let me share with you what happened the last time we
stepped out in faith. A few months ago we allowed the
men to send out an appeal for study materials. One of the
studies they requested was a video series call Spiritual
Warfare by Dean Sherman. Shortly after their request
the material they were currently using ran its course
and they found themselves on a hiatus from their bib
study class. Brother Don and I discussed the situatio
and we decided to step out in faith and purchase th
material although we had yet to receive a response to thappeal. Within ten minutes of this decision being mad
I was on-line ordering the Spiritual Warfare series.
just completed the order form and was interrupted wi
the delivery of a messag
indicating someon
had called the previo
day. The person wh
delivered the messag
made the comment,
dont know why this w
not put on your door!
didnt know the reaso
then but I do now.
I immediately calle
the number and to m
delight it was a youn
woman who wished
donate the cost of th
Spiritual Warfare serie
How awesome is GoHe rewards the faithful. The reason I didnt get th
message the day before was because God knew w
would be in a position where we needed to trust hi
and we did.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks find
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Luke 11:10
Gods promises are real and thats why we have chose
to step out in faith once again.
This is a great way to remember or honor a loved on
by having their name displayed on a plaque on th
computer station.

the only
differenceWhen interviewing Dr. A. J.
Gordon as a prospective pastor
of a Boston church the pulpit
committee asked:
If you are call to be our
pastor will you preach
against card playing, the
theater, and dancing?
We feel these things to be
extremely sinful and we
would want you to admonish
against such things in your
sermons.
I will, affirmed Dr. Gordon.
He was called as their plaster.
Months passed and he didnt say
a word against card playing, the
theater, or dancing. The official
board of the church said:
Almost a year is called by
and you have said nothing
against card playing, the
theater, or dancing. We
wonder why?
Dr. Gordon replied, essentially
as follows:
Gentleman, it is true that
I have said nothing against
these things, but I have
preached Christ who is the
only Savior from all evil.
When he comes into ones
heart all evil things vanish
from their life like the mist
from the hot breath of a
noonday sun.
I dont believe that Dr. Gordon
was suggesting that a new
believer becomes perfect but
rather testifying to the truth that
Christ can change our entire
life giving us truly abundant
life. We hear at that the Mission
believe that Christ can makethe difference in any life. We
see this happen daily in the
NewLife Program. Thank you
for your prayers and support as
we lift Christ up so that others
may be drawn to him; and thus
a new life.
