GOD IS PATIENT WITH ME: 1. When I have to learn the same lesson over and over. What does this mean? God understands we are just human. That doesn’t mean He is okay with our sin but that He is patient with us as we learn the same thing again and again. 2. When I blame Him for consequences. What does this mean? Often we see things that happen and think “How could God allow this?” In other words, we blame God. Yet God is patient with us as we learn to trust that He always uses everything for His glory. 3. When I blame Him for consequences of bad choices that I made. What does this mean? This one is easy! Even when we sin, we become angry that there are consequences. We don’t want to pay the consequence and yet God is patient with us as we learn to make better choices. His mercies are new every morning and in that fact we see His patience. 4. When I’m slow to see what He is doing. What does this mean? How many of you have prayed for something special? Maybe your dad needs a new job. Maybe you asked God to help your parents stop fighting. Maybe you asked Him to heal someone you love or help you on a test. We want to see God answer our prayers right away and it’s easy to get restless while we wait for Him to answer in His time. God is patient with me even when I’m not feeling patient with Him. PATIENT MOTIONS 1. Take a deep breath: Breathe with a big breath and hold it. Exhale. 2. Count to three: Mouth one, two, three while holding up your right hand and adding one finger for each number. 3. God is working on you: Point to someone else. 4. And He’s working on me: Slowly point to yourself.

FOR YOUNGER LEARNERS WORSHIP The Harvest Kids team has provided a worship service video for your child online at HarvestBibleChapel.org/HKatHome. There is worship, Scripture memory, Dance Time and a Stretch Time. The Bible story is below in the form of a storybook. BIBLE STORY HarvestBibleChapel.org/HKatHome hosts a downloadable storybook that teaches the Bible story. You can print to 8.5x11” or just swipe through on your favorite device. Scroll through the webpage to the “YOUNGER LEARNER” section. ASK & LISTEN Young children cannot answer questions on their own. They need your help. The intention of 100% Response Tools is to train children through modelling appropriate small group participation. We also want your child to engage in spiritual conversations with you at an age appropriate level. You are privileged to train your child to be in a small group and how to talk about our faith in a respectful manner. (Proverbs 22:6) 100% RESPONSE TOOL: Today’s 100% Response Tool is called “Happy Face/Sad Face”. Tell the your child “If the statement that I say is a good thing that happened, make a happy. If the statement is a bad thing that happened in the story, make a sad face.”

1. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: We find the true story of Abraham and Lot, and the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. (Happy face)

2. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were so sinful, God decided to destroy them. (Sad face)

3. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: Abraham asked God to spare the lives of those in the city that were righteous and God said He would. (Happy face)

4. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: The angels took Lot and his family out of the city of Sodom before God destroyed it. (Happy face)

5. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: Lot’s wife did not do what the angels said. She did her own thing and it was very sad for her. (Sad face)

6. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: God is patient with me (and you) even when we don’t do the right thing. (Happy face) 7. Parent/Caregiver: Tell the children that God is patient. If there is a time that God brings to mind when He showed how

patient He was with you, share it with the children. 8. Ask children if they can share a time when a person was patient with them. (A parent, teacher, grandparent, or friend).

Remind them that people show patience sometimes, but that God is always patient. PRAY “Let’s spend time in prayer. So we can focus on the Lord, let’s fold our hands and close our eyes. Thank You Father for loving us so much that You show us such great patience! We are thankful that You give us second chances when we sin and that You give us time to turn to You. Help us to be patient with others so they see Jesus in us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” CREATE Supplies: Anything you have in your home that is colorful to create a rainbow.

Instructions: Make a rainbow in your home and share it with us @WeAreHarvestKids Application: The rainbow was given to Uncle Abraham’s great, great, great ….Grandpa Noah. It was God’s promise to Noah and to us. It is a symbol of great hope (let’s rejoice in hope) that God is in control so we can patient in hard times (tribulation) and like Abraham, we can be constant in prayer. MEMORIZE Supplies: Bookmark (please print from web), Bible “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12 (ESV) Instructions:

1. Ask, “Do you know this is a verse found in the Bible?” It is found in the Book of Romans. Can you say Romans? That is fun to say, isn’t it? Let’s try it again, “Romans”. The chapter in Romans is 12 and the verse is 12, so the memory verse is found in Romans 12:12. That’s easy to remember! Now let’s place a bookmark at Romans 12:12.

2. Now we will practice our memory verse with motions. Rejoice in hope Action: Jazz hands with a big smile Be patient in tribulation Action: Fold hands together arms extended straight Be constant in prayer Action: Fold hands together as if praying

COLOR Supplies: Coloring pages for Patient Week 2 (please print from web), crayons

FOR OLDER LEARNERS WORSHIP & BIBLE STORY The Harvest Kids team has provided a worship service video for your child online at HarvestBibleChapel.org/HKatHome. There is worship, scripture memory, dance time, a skit, and a Bible story hosted by the amazing Pastor Will. If your child would prefer a storybook, please see the /HKatHome web page under “Younger Learners.” ASK & LISTEN Older children can do better at answering questions. Please remember “I don’t know” is a correct answer The intention of 100% Response Tools is to train children through modelling appropriate small group participation. We also want your child to engage in spiritual conversations with you at an age appropriate level. You are privileged to train your child to be in a small group and how to talk about our faith in a respectful manner. (Proverbs 22:6) 100% RESPONSE TOOL: Today’s 100% Response Tool is called “Faces”. Respond to the question or statement with a smile if what I say was good or true and with a frown if what I say is bad or not true.

1. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: Today’s story is found in the Old Testament, in Genesis 19. (Smile) 2. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: Sodom was a city where people loved and honored the Lord. (Frown) 3. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: How did Abraham and his choices make God feel? (Smile) 4. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: How did Lot and his choices make God feel? (Frown) 5. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: God is only patient with me when I do the right thing and follow all the rules. (Frown) 6. ASK: Have you ever felt frustrated with God when you are experiencing consequences of your sin? Let’s talk about

that. How do you think God feels when you are upset because there is a consequence to what you did? What do you think He is thinking? Do you think that sometimes you should be patient with yourself as you learn to make the right choice?

7. 100% RESPONSE TOOL: I can show God I am grateful for His patience when I choose His way and love others. (Smile)

8. Parent/Caregiver: Share about a time when God was patient with you even when you were doing the wrong thing. 9. Child: Ask your child to share a time from this week when they saw you patient with them. When you took a deep

breath, counted to three…because God is working on you and He is working on me.
