(02585) 245236 Year of Report - 2006-2007 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tapi Valley Education Society, established by our honorable president Shri. Balasaheb Madhukarrao Chaudhari (Former Speaker, M. L. Assembly, Maharashtra) is aware of its purpose and its responsibility towards contribution in social and national development. The institute has established quality development committee (Gunavatta Vikas Parishad) for enhancement of quality in education from primary, secondary as well as at junior and senior levels in higher education. As a result of biannual sessions held by this committee, it has suggested a programme namely, “TOWARDS EXCELLENCE”. This committee includes principles of all faculties run by the society, other principals of nearby colleges, educationist, education officers of region, head masters of schools and high schools. The committee has suggested a work plan named as above. The purpose of parishad is to develop awareness among all stakeholders and build consensus among all stakeholders. Dr. S. S. Patil (M.Sc., Ph.D.) Botany Department took over the charge as principal from 22nd June 2006. Under his able and visionary guidance the active participation of staff and students will be a refreshing experiences for the college. The assessment of college by NAAC peer team was done in Nov. 2003 under his co-ordinatorship. His inspiration will enhance teachers competence and commitment. As a initial step for promoting integrity and harmony “Dress Code” has been implemented for teachers, non teachers and students of the college from first Oct. 2006. (see Annexure I-1 to 4)
Water is the elixir of life. The ground water level is sinking alarmingly fast. The importance of rain water harvesting and watershed management is essential hence institute has taken steps to harvest rainwater of buildings of the institution and society.
College has sent proposal to UGC for extension of ladies hostel. The creation of IQAC is helping to create right balance between health and growth of the institution.

More teachers be encouraged for doing M.Phil. and Ph.D. Teachers will be promoted for forwarding Major/Minor research projects to U.G.C. To start new short term courses. Extra coaching to be given for poor learners. Financial support in terms of tuition fees of rank holder students of the college. Research publications and activities will be encouraged. Launching of website of TVE. The study center of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nashik,
YCMOU be started. Extensions counter of the bank in the college.
OUTCOME AT THE END OF THE YEAR
Tapi Valley Education Society has launched a separate website www.tesfaizpur.org.
As per recommendation of NAAC, the college send proposal to YCMOU Nahik to start
study center. The university committee visited college on 11-09-06 and 18-09-06. Mr. N. L.
Chavan is working as co-ordinator of this study center. 43 students are taking advantage of this
center in the year. Also the Open University has permitted to conduct M.Phil. course in subject
Marathi.
The research recognition of laboratory of department of Botany is renewed.
Two faculty members from the institution have registered their names for Ph.D.
programme.

College has adopted Hambardi (Tal. Yawal) village through N.S.S. A special winter
camp was held in this village from 20-11-06 to 29-11-06. Hundred volunters participated in it.
Volunters worked on AIDS awarness, Vyasan-Mukti, Literacy, and eradication of superstitions.
Special Mahila and Bal Melava was arranged to create awareness in health and hygine. Eight
volunteers form our unit participated in university level diaster management training programme
held in NMU, Jalgaon. The death anniversary of great freedom fighter “Karmayogi Late. Dhanaji
Nana Chaudhari was celebrated on 29-12-2006. (See Annexure I (5)
Part- B 1) Activities reflecting goals and objectives of the institution.
The executive council of Tapi Valley Education Society after holding discussions through “Gunavatta Vikas Parishad” with all related to education field has suggested work plan namely ‘Towards Excellence to be followed for enhancing quality of education. The institute wants to expand facilities in higher education and has received permission of State Government to start new courses at P.G. level. It includes M.A. (Geo.), M.A. (Eco.), M.Sc. (Micro.) College has obtained permission from UGC to continue scheme of entry in services for SC/ST and Minority students and remedial coaching is continued. This year college organized two lectures of Dr. Raosaheb Kasabe (Educationist) on Challenges in higher Education; The various academic committees are constituted by principal to synchronies the various activities of college.
2) New academic porgrammes initiated
B.Sc. (Biotech.) course was started by the college in year 2005-06. The second year of this course is in operation by natural growth in this year. College has been permitted to start M.A. (Geo.), M.Sc. (Micro.), M.A. (Eco.) on non-grant basis by the Government and N.M.U. Jalgaon Institute is planning to start there courses from June 2007.
3) Innovations in curricular design and transaction
Syllabi of U.G. and P.G. classes are framed by members of board of studies (B.O.S.) of university in respective subjects. The elected members of B.O.S. participate in restructuring of syllabi. Dr. A. Y. Mahajan (Zoo.), Vice Principal, is Chairman of BOS in Zoology of N.M.U. Jalgaon. Mr. M. C. Patil (Phy.) is member of BOS. Mr. P. B. Patil (Math.) is member of BOS and is also elected the faculty member.
4) Inter-disciplinary porgrammes started.
There is no interdisciplinary programme conducted by college.
5) Examination reforms implemented
As per guidelines of University college conducts internal test examinations per term. Also two tutorials of each course are compulsory. The internal monitoring committee organize these test examinations by setting time table of all classes. The Annual and Oct. examinations of all classes are conducted and governed by university appointed senior supervisors as per Maharashtra University Act. 1994.
6) Candidates qualified NET/SET/GATE etc.
During this academic year Mr. I. P. Thakur (Hindi) qualified the NET examination.

Algal Biotechnology and Biodiversity” was held in college by department of Botany on 16th and 17th Feb. 07. Prof. N. Anand, Director, C.A.S. in Botany, Chennai, and Vice-Chancellor of North Maharashtra University. Dr. K. B. Patil inaugurated conference.
2) “Gramin Yuvati Sammelan” was held on 24-01-05 and 25-01-07 in college in collaboration with adult education and adult continuing extension services of N.M.U. Jalgaon.
9) Research Project a) Newly Implemented – 01 1. Dr. D. A. Kumawat (Botany)- Title- Diatoms of polluted and fresh water environs from Yawal and Raver tahaslis of Jalgaon District. It is sanctioned by U.G.C. in 05-06. The grant of Rs. 40,000/- is received for it. 2. Dr. R. S. Thakare (Eco.) is selected by U.G.C. for U.G.C. National Research Award. He is selected for post doctoral fellowship by U.G.C. Title- Issue of malnutrition and the rate of birth and death of the Adivasis Children. b) Completed- 02 1. Minor Research Project of Mr. U. S. 18) Community Services Blood donation camp was held by college in collaboration with Nagpur Parishad, Faizpur on 15-08-06 NSS, NCC cadets were actively involved. See Annexure I (9) Yuvati Sabha is established in college since 2001. If helps in solving physical, social problems of girls Dr. Sushilaben Shah, a well known social worker advised the girls to move towards economical independence in their life. She was addressing at inaugural ceremony of Yuvati Sabha on 24-08-06. See Annexure I (10)

The admission process and administration is computerized. Result of examination are declared by university. No degree certificates are issued by the college.
26) Increase in Infrastructural facilities
No additional increase in such facilities is made is this year. However, the health center building is constructed through UGC assistance and is completed. Health center is utilized. A separate arrangement for parking of cycles, motor cycles, cars of staff and students is made in this year, Coin Box facility is provided through vaitanikanchi patpedhi.
27) Technology up gradation
The administration is in favor of keeping ourselves upgraded. New apparatus / instruments are incorporated. Recently we purchased a LCD projector (SONY) and its cost is Rs. 1,15,000/- This will help in enriching our teaching and learning resources.
28) Computer and internet access and training student
College runs B.Sc. Computer Sci. Courses on non grant basis and is abundant in computers. All machines in the department are connected in LAN and Internet can be accessed from any of the machine. We do organize training programmes to train students and faculty members. Internet access has been provided to all science departments.
29) Financial aid to students
NO separate provision is made for financial aid to students. Students in need may apply to college administration to work under Earn and Learn scheme.
30) Activities and support from Alumni Association
Past students are our eyes and ears and we are proud of them. Efforts are being made to strength their bonds. The inaugural function and meeting of association was organized on 26-08-06. Mr. Nitin A. Chaudhari, Savda, Dist. Jalgaon is elected as Chairman and he assured for making co-ordination with past studet.
31) Activities and support for parent teacher association
Mr. Durgaprasad Mahajan, Faizpur is elected as Chairman of this association. The suggestion made by parents were fulfilled. Association members supported the decision of implementing dress code in the college.
32) Health services A new building comprising health center unit is now ready and its inaugural function was held on 16th June 2006. Seven honorary doctors are on the Panel and they visit as per schedule, Needy students are treated by them. Four out station expert doctors are also on pannel viz.

33) performance in sport activities
20 Sports persons achieved success in intercollegiate competitions conducted by university. 15 sports persons were selected for matches at divisional level. One player was selected at university level (Athletics) Two player achieved third position in divisional competition.

Players participating at intercollegiate level are given travelling expenses as well as dearness allowance by college. Students playing at university level are supplied tract suits. Scheduled programme of coaching is run by dept. of physical education for players in variety of games.
35) Activities of guidance and counseling unit.
1. Raju Haidar Patel (SYBA) received second prize in Yuvarang (Youth Festival) organized by N.M.U. at Arts, Sci. college, Chopda, Dist. Jalgaon. 2. Patil Vinod B. Jr. under officer of N.C.C. was selected for Republic day Sanchalan on 26th Jan. 07. 3. Ten cadets were successful in getting through B certificate examination of NCC while nine cadets successful in ‘C’ cert examination. 4. Jitendra Gavai (SYBA) participated in Youth Festival
Yuvarang in debating. Kailash Bakshe participated in Youth festival in Modeling. Best Hindi story writing- Gholane Yuvraj Namdeo- IInd prize. Best Hindi poem- Patil Varsha Arun, IInd prize. Article with best thoughts- Vani Ashwini Pravin- IInd prize. see annexure I (12)
36) Placement services provided by the student
Students of third year B.Sc. (Chem.) visited Priyadarshani co-operative spinning moll, Shirpur Dhule, and Darshan Textiles Ltd. on 16/11/06. The C.E.O. of the mill had discussion and interviewed these students. He has assured job for those who are most suitable.
37) Development programme of non-teaching staff
Ninety percent of office staff is computer trained now. Many non teachers have completed state government sponsored M.S.C.I.T. course in last two years. ‘Yoga’ classes were run in college campus for two weeks to improved creatively power of staff.
38) Healthy practices of institution
1. Blood donation camp was organized on 15-08-06. 2. Literacy and value based education guidance lecture of resource person was arranged on 29-08-06. 3. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Punyatithi (Mahaparinirvan Din) was celebrated by students and staff on 06-12-06. 4. A book of stories in Marathi written by head of Marathi Dr. S. R. Rane (retired) was published by Principal of college on 12-03-07. 5. A special guidance lecture of YCMOU (Nashik) visiting committee was arranged for students of all faculties. 6. Plantation in college campus was promoted in month of Aug.06. 7. The student selected for R.D. Parale in Delhi was honored by Principal by offering him shawl and bouquet. 8. Variety entertainment programme for student of all branches was organized on annual social gathering and prize distribution ceremony. it was held on 31-01-07. 9. One day programme for personality development of student was heldby Rupa Vasudevan, Mumbai. 10. Human Resource Research Committee, Jalgoan conducted general knowledge examination for students of our college. see annexure- I (13)

Plan of action for year 2007-08
The functioning of Damodar Nana Potential development academy (established in June
06) be motivated by training the students at 12 levels as well as students of UG classes
for competitive examination.
The time table of all classes (provisional) will be prepared early in summer vocation to
start classes at earliest after opening of college.
The students charter be included in prospectus of the college from June 07.
To set question bank for first and second internal tests conducted by the college.
The on going minor research projects of teachers will be discussed of common platform.
To arrange few lectures on communication skills for all studetns.
To carry out recharging of wells in nearby area through with the help of volunteers.
Renovation of Botanical garden including medicinal plants.
To start U.G.C. sponsored career oriented courses.
