A ONE-OF-A-KIND EXPERIENCE

CLASS & CONVENTION PROGRAM

Page 2: AQC15 CLASS & CONVENTION PROGRAM

Dear Quilters,

We look forward to joining you in Melbourne on what has become an annual pilgrimage for Australian quilters. If you haven’t been yet, make this your year to find out what AQC is all about.

Quilting has continued to be as popular as ever with record numbers of quilts entered in state guild shows and the emergence of the modern quilt movement. These are exciting times as a new generation of quilters comes on the scene to join those who have been passionate about the pursuit for many years.

And a visit to AQC is an ideal way to introduce someone new to the world of quilting – as a beginner in one of our classes or by bringing them along to enjoy the majesty of all those beautiful quiltworks under the dome of the Royal Exhibition Building.

So enjoy the read and have fun selecting your classes. We look forward to seeing you again in April 2015.

Kind regards,

Gary Fitz-Roy Judy Newman

Explore deconstructed circles by constructing a series of circles on fabric which can be used to make cushions, tote bags, art quilts, added to clothing or display on a wall. The technique is simple but the results can be amazing, no two pieces are the same and they become very addictive! Circles can be made from fabric scraps, recycled clothing fabrics or new fabrics, including charm squares. You will be able to complete at least one piece in class. This technique can also be adapted to squares or a combination of both.

WORKING WITH CURVES

Tutor: Jo Dixey – Skill level: Intermediate to Advanced. You need to be able to sew a ¼ inch seam.

Have fun in this class piecing curves that are cut using the ‘Cut-A-Round’ ruler. Learn how to piece all the blocks needed to produce a quilt similar to the image shown. At the end of the day you will have at least four finished blocks, and many will have more. Jo will also talk about how to create your own curved creation.
