ARROWS Towards the end of the Myth and Theatre Festival on

Eros and Psyche - I had to admit I was more

interested in arrows than in phalluses or penises,

and, much like Freud, who saw penises everywhere,

I see arrows everywhere, and especially in

choreographic theater laboratories. Directing a

laboratory is something like this: looking out for the

arrows, their directions, deducing guidelines. Its a

matter of seeing the arrows fly, working out their

directions, pinpointing where they come from (actors,

texts, gestures, coincidences, music, etc.) and whom

or what they aim at.

In cosmogonies, Eros is often called Protogonos, the

first principle that puts the world in motion. Eros

brings order to Chaos, but when the order gets too

rigid, it is he who returns it to Chaos the French call

it le bordel (the brothel!) It is often the case when one

of his arrows pierces our heart... These arrows are

Eros writing. This is the authority, the author I seek,

the writing that so interest me: Eros play-wrighting.

We will also discuss Peter Kingsleys arrows, which

are musical ones, and his proposals on the origins of

Mongolian shamanism - and philosophy.

et Psych, jai admis que jtais plus intress par

les flches que par les phallus et les pnis, et que,

un peu comme Freud, qui voyait des pnis partout,

moi je vois des flches partout, et notamment dans

les laboratoires de thtre chorgraphique. Diriger

un laboratoire performatif cest aussi cela : flcher

des parcours, indiquer des directions, proposer des

directives. Il sagit de voir les flches voler, dtecter

les directions, localiser do elles partent (acteurs,

textes, gestes, concidences, musiques, etc.) et

vers qui ou vers quoi elles pointent.

Dans les cosmogonies, Eros est souvent le

en mouvement. Il met de lordre dans le Chaos,

mais, lorsque lordre se rigidifie, cest lui qui,

comme on dit : fout le bordel . Cest souvent

ainsi lorsque lune de ses flches nous perce le

cur Ces flches sont lcriture dEros. Cest

cette autorit-l, cet auteur-l, et cette criture-l,

qui mintressent tellement : la dramaturgie dEros.
