The central message is that ‘everyone belongs’. At Casula Public School we cele- brate inclusiveness everyday of the year. We have over 60 cultural groups represented at our great school. It was with such pride that I enjoyed the Harmony Day assembly – the dances, music, speeches, singing – what a fantasc place to be everyday. It was wonderful to see so many children dressed in their naonal costume or wearing orange to promote harmony. I want everyone in our school community to think about how the world might be if we lived in harmony and were KIND to each other. That’s the world we want and all deserve. Thank you to Mrs Shirley and her support crew for their fantasc or- ganisaon of the day and to our talented perform- ers, you were wonderful! Easter Celebraons Our Easter Hat Parade was a great example of inclusivity in our school community. All religions parcipated in this fun school event. Dear Parents and Caregivers

Harmony Day Celebrations What a wonderful week we had at Casula last week. We started the week with our Harmony Day celebrations. Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for every-one. The central message is that ‘everyone belongs’. At Casula Public School we cele-brate inclusiveness everyday of the year. We have over 60 cultural groups represented at our great school. It was with such pride that I enjoyed the Harmony Day assembly – the dances, music, speeches, singing – what a fantastic place to be everyday. It was

wonderful to see so many children dressed in their national costume or wearing orange to promote harmony. I want everyone in our school community to think about how the world might be if we lived in harmony and were KIND to each other. That’s the world we want and all deserve. Thank you to Mrs Shirley and her support crew for their fantastic or-ganisation of the day and to our talented perform-ers, you were wonderful!

Easter Celebrations Our Easter Hat Parade was a great example of inclusivity in our school community. All religions participated in this fun school event. There were some gorgeous Easter hats, lots of smiling faces and proud students. Thank you to the many parents that visited on the day. We counted approximately 150 parents. Our Stage 3 stu-dents visited the Easter Show last Thursday and had a won-derful day. They jumped off the bus in the afternoon, ex-hausted but happy. Thank you to Miss Ruda for her great organisation and to our many parent helpers that gave up their time to come along on the day.

Safety Alert Last week we put a safety message on Skoolbag after we were alerted of an attempted abduction of a child playing in their front yard, had occurred in Lurnea. The child is safe but it is a very important warning to all families about STRANGER DANGER. All students were spoken to by their classroom teacher about being aware of strangers, not getting into cars of people they don’t know and knowing safe places in the community if need-ed. School Photos This Wednesday is school photo day. It is expected that every child will be in full SUMMER school uniform. Please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. This year we have changed pho-tography companies based on the feedback from parents and teachers. I hope you are happy with the final products. The last chance you have to pay for the photos is WEDNESDAY.

Positive Feedback Box In response to parent feedback at the end of 2015 there is a positive feedback box in the school office. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

P&C AGM The P&C Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 4th April from 9.15am in the Communi-ty Room. The April monthly meeting will follow. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the current P&C executive team, including President Cheryl Whitehead for their hard work over the past 12 months.

Great News… We are so incredibly proud of Natalia J and Billie H who will be representing our school at the State Swimming Champion-ships at Homebush. What an amazing accomplishment girls! Congratulations!

Cross Country and Gelato Day School Cross Country will be held this Thursday. Parents are welcome to attend. The P&C will be selling gelatos for $2 at the cross country and at recess for all other students. Have a wonderful end to the term. The last day of Term 1 is Friday 8th April.

2016 Sydney South West Regional Swimming Carnival Seven Casula students participated at the Sydney South West Regional Swimming Champi-onships on Tuesday March 15 at Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre, Bradbury. Some out-standing results were recorded by our swimmers who represented Liverpool Zone (please see below for their results). Students eligible to receive awards from the carnival will be acknowledged at upcoming stage assemblies. Good luck to our swimmers who qualified for the state carnival on April 6 and 7 at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. Thank you Mr D. King and Miss N. Maine (Sport Coordinators)

Professor Maths visited our school on Monday 7th March and Monday 14th March. All students in Years 3

– 6 participated in ‘Hands-On” activities.

Even though Professor Maths visited C.P.S. last year, all activities were new. These interactive activities

taught Mathematics number skills and problem solving in a fun way and also taught students social

skills, how to listen, to follow directions, to take turns, to cooperate, communicate and to plan ahead.

Some of the activities were based on well-known and tested games, dating back centuries. Others incor-

porated aspects of science and the environment, offering a more rounded and practical understanding of mathematics. The

students especially enjoyed completing ‘Super Challenges’, allowing them to imitate ‘Professor Maths’ himself, by wearing a

wig and vest.

What I did at Professor Maths On Monday, after going to the library, I experienced something amazing! Can you guess? That’s right, I enjoyed Professor Maths! So, what was I up to? Oh yes, after library, my teacher helped my class pick groups of four. Other than me, there was Sedra, Haneen and Skye in my group. Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for! We entered the hall. We met Proferssor Maths. He is a funny man; he told us three simple rules: “1 Stay with your group, 2 Stay with your group, 3 Stay with your group!” Told you he’s funny. There were some super challenges. If your first one is correct you achieve an Einstein level with a wig. A second correct challenge will earn a jacket. It was lovely playing Maths with Professor Maths. Oh, I forgot to tell you, there are many differ-ent games that you can play. My favourites were: The Cube and The Last $. I recommend Professor Maths to you. It was a lovely time for me and I am sure you will have a lot of fun. P.S. The only problem is you can’t stop playing. Dua S 4J
