We have host families all over the US! You will choose a family whose needs match your experience and whose lifestyle you’ll feel most comfortable with.

Your host family provides your meals, study allowance and weekly pocket money. In return, you care

for their children – for no more than 10 hours a day and 5½ days a week. You’re also expected to do

your share of child-related household chores as a member of the family. One of your host parents will

stay with you for your rst 3 days to help you settle in. All our host families have been personally

visited and screened by a Community Counselor to make sure they are suitable for our program.

THE RIGHT FAMILY

YOUR SCHEDULE

The kids are the ultimate reason for becoming an au pair. Your schedule will depend on the ages of

the children. Some au pairs prefer to care for infants who have a more xed routine. Typically, your

responsibilities would be:

• waking the children and dressing, bathing and playing with them

• preparing meals for the children, tidying up after them, making their beds and

washing their clothes

• driving the children to and from school or to other activities

• helping with homework

• babysitting in the evenings when the parents go out

STUDYING

VOLUNTEERING

With at least one weekend o a month, 2 weeks paid vacation and an additional travel month at the

end of your stay you will have plenty of time to travel. The US is an incredible country to explore!

Whether you head for great cities like San Francisco, Chicago and Las Vegas or the natural wonders of

the National Parks or the Grand Canyon, you’ll experience places you’ll never forget! You can travel

around with friends you’ve made or independently on one of our organized tours.

Your host family provides a yearly contribution (US$500 for au pair and US$1000 for eduCare) for you

to attend a local college. You can also study online with the University of California, Los Angeles

(UCLA). Your host family will assist you with enrolment and they will provide transport to get to your

classes. You may need to add to your study allowance depending on the course you choose which

could be anything from English language to Psychology.

Volunteering is an important part of American life. With Au Pair in America’s unique Global Awareness

program you can volunteer in elementary and middle school classrooms, giving you the opportunity

to share your culture, customs and language with young American children.

"I’ve always wanted to travel and I love working with kids. Being an au pair in America is a great opportunity to do both." Tatiane, 19, Brazil
