AURORA TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE EAST RAND MINE

Today as a result of industrial action at the Grootvlei mine in Springs, the members of the South

African Police Services had to intervene in order to prevent the destruction of mine property and

ensuing violent conflict.

As a consequence certain arrests were affected. In light thereof, Aurora have taken a decision to

suspend all operations at Grootvlei mine.

In its engagement at Grootvlei mine, Aurora have sought to engage with all stakeholders, vis a vis,

the Unions, Funders, the Liquidators, Creditors and other affected parties with a view to Aurora

acquiring the mine seamlessly and without upheaval. To this end Aurora is committed to resolving

any disputes and ensuring that stakeholders rights are protected.

In the midst of difficult economic circumstances this remains a challenge, though Aurora is confident

that it would be able to accommodate the various stakeholders in finding a solution at Grootvlei.
