Software for Simulation of Progressive Dies
ProgSim
AutoForm-ProgSim is an ideal software complement for designers of progressive dies.
AutoForm-ProgSim allows progressive die makers to efficiently design, simulate, validate and correct their strip
concept. Strip concept validation is essential for any progressive die maker as it prevents costly trial and error
adjustments as well as costly prototype design and creation.

Progressive die stamping is commonly used for the production of large numbers of parts with complex geometries. Due to the complexity of progressive dies, it is important to address all of the factors that contribute to achieving the desired level of part quality. AutoForm-ProgSim simulates the entire progressive die stamping process and provides the relevant results which are necessary to evaluate this process, to optimize the number of stages and to validate tools. The validated geometry can then be released for milling.
AutoForm-ProgSim enables rapid and accurate simulation of progressive dies including drawing, flanging, forming and trimming operations as well as springback evaluation. The efficient simulation is based on incremental simulation technology.
Once the tool geometry is defined in Cimatron, it can be easily exported to AutoForm-ProgSim.
Tool geometries defined in Cimatron can be
used directly for process simulation with AutoForm-ProgSim.

The user can then simulate the entire stamping process and validate the results. Results such as optimized trim lines and springback can be exported back to Cimatron for tool adaptations. Optimization of trim lines leads to the elimination of laser-trim tryouts later on in the process, which significantly reduces lead time and costs.
AutoForm-ProgSim allows users to quickly identify problem areas like for example, wrinkles that might occur just before tool closing or the effect of the tool's impact on the strip. The software provides the best possible alternative solutions to correct the identified problems.
Tailored data exchange between Cimatron and AutoForm-ProgSim leads to fast and reliable results. The required part quality is achieved with a considerable reduction in time and costs.
