Statoil is participating EU FP7 MERMAID (Innovative Multi-purposE off-shoRe platforMs: plAnnIng, Design and operation). Statoil is leading WP6 Transport and optimization of installation, operation, and maintenance. One of the objectives is to establish a MUP study case. The case will illustrate the MUP installation, operation, maintenance and decommissioning. The MUP case includes the energy extraction (1000 MW wind farm), an aquaculture farm, and the marine services for MUP and public. This project is to design a MUP and to investigate the transport with regard to the wind farm and the MUP installation, operation and maintenance. 2. Tasks 1. Literature survey of innovative MUP platforms for four proposed different sites in Europe. 2. Study the available information from Statoil’s Sheringham shoal project in UK. It is a 317 MW wind farm with 88 * 3.6 MW Siemens wind turbines. The first wind turbine started to generation electricity in August, 2011. 3. Establish a MUP study case: The MUP case includes the energy extraction (1000 MW wind farm), an aquaculture farm, and the marine services for MUP and public. Investigate the transport for the installation, operation, maintenance and decommission of MUP. Quantitatively estimate the benefits of the MUP. *The above work tasks will be modified according to students’ competence and Statoil’s needs. 3. Output and expected value The project results should include a technical report, a project presentation in English. 4. Possible two or four months placement at Statoil, Bergen, Norway Industry Supervisor: Wei He, Principal Eng., Ph.D (Statoil, Norway, [email protected] . Tel. 4799311556).

Study case of multi-use platforms1. Background

Statoil is a leading offshore producer of oil and gas in the world.

2. Tasks

1. Literature survey of innovative MUP platforms for four proposed different sites in Europe.2. Study the available information from Statoil’s Sheringham  shoal project in UK.  It is a 317 MW

wind farm with 88 * 3.6 MW Siemens wind turbines. The first wind turbine started to generation electricity in August, 2011.

3. Establish a MUP study case: The MUP case includes the energy extraction (1000 MW wind farm), an aquaculture farm, and the

marine services for MUP and public.

4. Possible two or four months placement at Statoil, Bergen, Norway Industry Supervisor: Wei He, Principal Eng., Ph.D (Statoil, Norway, [email protected]. Tel. 4799311556).
