Phenomenon of ‘blind spots’ is very real – Fr. Repole

Rev. Fr. Renato ‘Pops’ Repole, S.J. made this gentle reminder in a retreat he facilitated to the clergy of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. The annual spiritual gathering of the priests and deacons of the archdiocese was held on November 16-20, 2015 at the Carmelite Missionaries Center of Spirituality, Tagaytay City.

“Pay attention to possible ‘blind spots’ in us. These are areas in our lives which we fail to see, refuse or do not want to see,” Fr. Repole said.

Quoting a scriptural passage written by Matthew, Fr. Repole explained that the blind spots of a person can be likened to those areas in the lives of the Scribes and Pharisees which John the Baptist condemned. Central to what John condemns is the hypocrisy of the leaders of the Israel. Like the Scribes and Pharisees, leaders of the Church can fail to see or pretend to have not seen the plight of the many people in their miserable condition.

Fr. Repole shared his thoughts in relation to the reflection of the Year of the Poor which the CBCP declared. Ironically, he said that, focusing on the poor will make us realize how spiritually rich they are and how much they can enrich the materially rich but spiritually impoverished.

“Jesus, poor in life and in death, is our model for this desired

Three Macro-Challenges for the Church in the Year of Mercy

Abp. Antonio J. Ledesma, SJ

The last two months of this year 2015 have brought to the fore three macro-challenges for Civil Society and the Church in the Philippines today. They are challenges on a macro scale because no single organization nor group of individuals can adequately address the various issues that are emerging. They are also macro because these issues affect millions of people or in some cases the entire world. Indeed the need for consensus-building on a national or global level has been felt. This should be based on ethical-moral principles and shared values that go beyond cultural, religious, and socio-economic barriers. In particular, the Catholic Church plays a significant role in Philippine society in addressing these macro issues.

I. Climate Change On a global scale, Climate Change

will be the pressing issue at the 21st Conference of Partners (COP 21) on the environment. Pope Francis’ recent encyclical, Laudato Si, has opened wide the doors for scientists and religious leaders to enter into serious dialogue over issues such as global warming and the search for alternative sources of energy. Instead of viewing the environment or nature simply as an object to be exploited, Pope Francis presents the Christian vision of God’s handiwork: “Creation can only be understood as a gift from the outstretched hand of the Father of all, and as a reality illuminated by the love which calls us together into universal communion.” (LS, 76) He also points out the intimate connection between the ecological approach and the social approach “so as to hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” (LS, 49)

Here in Cagayan de Oro, we have joined other dioceses in a Global Climate Solidarity March for the Environment. On Nov. 28, advocates for protecting the environment converged at the Divisoria from four starting-points to join the

voices of the world-wide Catholic Climate Movement at the start of COP 21 in Paris. The archdiocese also continues its participation in the Cagayan de Oro River Basin Management Council (CDORBMC) to protect the watershed areas and downstream communities of the Cagayan de Oro river system.

II Bangsamoro Basic Law A second macro challenge is

the continuing quest for a just and lasting peace in Mindanao. The draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) has been altered in the committee sessions of both houses of Congress. A version called the Basic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BLBAR) has come out from the Committee of the House of Representatives. Moreover the committee report in the Senate has provided another set of amendments. With the resurgence of biases and prejudices after the Mamasapano incident, the final outcome for the passage of the various drafts of the Bangsamoro Basic Law is not clear.

Seen from a wider perspective, the letter of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in July 2015 stated: “On our part, viewing the issues from a moral angle, we do not want a BBL that does not effectively address the root causes of social injustice.” This echoes the view of the surviving members of the Constitutional Convention of 1987 that the Constitution focuses primarily on the spirit of Social Justice. The Citizens’ Peace Council noted that the BBL is “an act of Social Justice and Reparation to the peoples of Muslim Mindanao to rectify all the injustices inflicted upon them in the past.”

Over the past three months, I have helped convene consultations among religious and civil society leaders in Cagayan de Oro and Manila to discuss the BBl issue. With some clarifications, practically everyone saw the need for a meaningful basic law for a sustainable peace in Mindanao. On

Nov. 26, in Cagayan de Oro, we started the Mindanao Week of Peace with a multi-sectoral march rally. This was organized by the Inter-faith Forum for Peace, Harmony and Solidarity. The theme was: “Mindanaoans’ Aspirations for Peace: Kalinaw sa Dios – Kinaiyahan – Katawhan”. Regardless of the outcome of the BBL/BLBAR issue in Congress, all of us should continue to engage in intra- and inter-religious dialogue. Our biases and preconceived notions of other cultures and religions are the main obstacles to lasting peace in Mindanao and the rest of the country.

III. Good GovernanceA third macro-challenge in the

Philippine context are the coming elections in May 2016. Already the campaign period has started and various political personalities and parties have filed their candidacies. Good governance – with its antithesis, corruption – is once more a critical factor to consider for every voter. In January 2010, before the last presidential elections, the CBCP made three calls to voters: (1) To form circles of discernment; (2) For the laity, to exercise their right and duty to support candidates who are qualified and committed to public service; and (3) To engage in principled partisan politics. Voting for candidates with a track record of good governance is the most effective way of stamping out a culture of corruption. In an address to the International Assembly of Penal Law, Pope Francis points out emphatically: “Corruption is a process of death more evil than sin – an evil that, instead of being forgiven, must be cured.”

On Nov 7, the archdiocese sponsored a march rally for CHAMP – Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful, and Peaceful elections. This was well attended by various sectors. There were calls against vote – buying, political dynasties, and the conduct of patronage politics. The city itself has had its share of divisive party politics in the non – disbursement of the budget for vital

basic services and, more recently, in the controversy over the post of City Mayor.

Despite these internal conflicts among elected officials, it is good to keep in mind Pope Francis’ own exhortation: “Politics, though often denigrated, remains a lofty vocation and one of the highest forms of charity, inasmuch as it seeks the common good.” (EG, 205)

IV. A Year of MercyDespite the Holy Father’s blunt

words on the evil of corruption, he has called for an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, starting on December 8, 2015. “Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy”: This opening statement provides the title of Pope Francis’ Bull of Indiction, Misericordiae Vultus. He goes on to say that Mercy is “the bridge that connects God and man.” It is also “the fundamental law that dwells in the heart of every person who looks sincerely into the eyes of his brothers and sisters on the path of life.” (MV, 2)

On Nov. 3-5, our Archdiocesan Pastoral Assembly brought together more than 450 delegates from 64 parishes. This was the culmination of the Appreciative Inquiry process that was carried out in most parishes down to the kapilya community level, over the past six months.

What was most noteworthy was the preponderance of life – giving pastoral experiences in terms of prayerfulness and also of service to others. These two characteristics and shared values can just as well point the directions we can take during this jubilee year of mercy.

This perhaps is the perspective we can adopt in confronting the macro-challenges before us – to first bend our knees in prayer, and to be merciful like the Father, especially for the poor and marginalized, in addressing socio-economic and political issues; to work for ecological and social justice; and to bring about God’s mercy by rectifying deeply–rooted biases and injustices in Philippine society today.

Volunteers in Prison Service (VIPS) join 7TH IPCA Conference

Rev. Fr. Amie P. Balacuit, SSJV

Three Volunteers in Prison Service of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro attended the 7th World Conference of International Prison Chaplains Association (IPCA) held in New South Wales, Sydney, Australia from September 19-24 this year bearing the theme: “Telling Our Story.”

IPCA is an international ecumenical association of prison chaplains which aims to foster improvement in prison chaplaincy service of different countries. The

international conference happens every 5 years and this year, it is sponsored by the Oceania Region represented by more than 50 countries and attended by more or less 250 delegates. The activities of the said conference varied from conferences/talks, panel discussions, workshops, ecumenical prayer services, art exhibits like paintings of inmates from all over the world.

The Asian region is represented by 5 countries: India, Pakistan, Hongkong, Thailand and the Philippines. The Philippine delegation were

volunteers in prison service: Mrs. Fe Bagares, Mrs. Gilda Pates and Fr. Amie P. Balacuit of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro with Mrs. Sylvia Montfort and Sr. Anne Dixon of Bacolod.

We learned from that conference that prison chaplaincy is a serious business that needs professional attention. Prison counseling and prison ministry in the Philippines is still far behind the standard. In one of the panel discussions, the outgoing president, Dwight Cuff, shared that he has been to different prisons all over the world. He commended Filipinos, especially those of the Catholic Prison Care Service, for going the extra mile, that is, for extending service more than visiting prisoners and counseling but also doing para legal services. But he also frankly said that he has been to the worst prison in the world when he came to Manila. Whatever he meant by such observation, it posed a big challenge for us, especially the Philippine government, to be more serious in managing the correctional facilities in our country.

New Apologetics Conference HeldThe Confraternity of

Catholic Lay Theologians and Defenders of the Faith (Catholic Lay Evangelizers) celebrated its 3rd foundation anniversary on October 17, 2015 at Oriental Ballroom restaurant, Philtown Hotel, Cagayan de Oro through a conference on the New Apologetics.

Cleb B. Calimutan made clear the methodology and the timely need of the new apologetics encouraged by Pope St. John Paul II. The theme of the event was,

“Defending the Faith is Defending Earth.” This is in connection with Laudatu Si, the latest encyclical of Pope Francis who invoked the entire humanity to take good care of the planet earth – our home and a gift from God.

Ms. Maristela Camaddo, a lay theologian, was the keynote speaker who explained Laudato Si in detail. Msgr. Elmer S. Abacahin blessed the group as they move forward in promoting New Evangelization and New Apologetics. (Lamdag News)

Christian Family & Life Apostolate conducts Marriage Encounter Seminars

By: Lolit T. Bacarrisas

The Christian Family and Life Apostolate (CFLA) conducted a Marriage Encounter Seminar on October 23-25, 2015 at the Hoffner’s House of Prayer, Upper Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City. The said seminar offers couples, who have been married for a year and above, an opportunity to examine and renew their lives after their Church wedding. It is designed to give married couples an opportunity to spend a weekend together as a positive personal experience which provides tools for a “loving dialogue” that can be useful for the rest of their married life. It’s a chance to look into and examine deeply their relationship with each other and with God. It’s also a time for sharing their feelings, joys, hopes, aspirations and dreams. It is a unique approach aimed at revitalizing their relationship and their life as a married couple and could call it as a “Weekend Chance of a Lifetime” to be spent only with the spouse. It gives them a chance to look back at how they loved each other at the beginning of their marriage, to reflect on the present changes and finding

the meaning of their married life with God and ultimately to achieve renewal as persons and as a couple. It emphasizes the communication between the couples and eventually the major aim is to deepen their intimate relationship with the spouse and God.

The ME Program was introduced by Msgr. Jesus B. Tuquib, Archbishop Emeritus of Cagayan de Oro as his Pet Project, and is held twice a year (in May and October). The 1st weekend seminar was conducted in Betania Retreat House, Malasag, Cagayan de Oro City with the couple Dioning & Maming Pelare as the only team couple facilitator from Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur. Starting with only one couple facilitator, the program evolved and a pool of Marriage Encounter facilitators who have undergone a series of ME process seminars and ME facilitator’s trainings was created. Among the “first pool” of ME facilitators were Paul & Tita Gayramon and Lilia & the late Elmer Gacus from Camiguin,. Also with the team are: Lolong & Carol Pineda; the late Sol & Inday Pimentel; Gary & the late Fely Remolado; Nene & the late George Saldaña; Boyboy & Ethel Edrote and the couple Nestor & Belen Daba.

Msgr. Jesus B. Tuquib was the over-all in-charge for the series of formation of these couples with the assistance of Sr. Janette D. Porras, MSHF and two CFLA/ME spiritual directors: Rev. Fr. Pedro “Indong” Sombilon, SSJV and Rev. Fr. Walter Tabios.

During the early years of 1990, the ME Program felt the need for additional ME facilitators. Hence, the second liners were formed and organized in addition to the existing pool of ME facilitators. They are: Boy & Aileen Lazo, present ME Couple Coordinator; Jin & Fely Araneta; Benjie & Lolit Bacarrisas; Dodong & Beth Beduya; Cording & the late George Carbon; Tony & Tita Pontipedra; Rene & Ann Abas; Lito & Pinpin Tac-an, and Carrie & the late Lito Sabela. Most of the deacons scheduled for ordination at that time served as the panelist and the first audience of the couple presentors . They were the ones who guided the couples and did the critiquing of their story lines. Later, additional four new couples joined the team namely, Winston &Judith Tan; Bon & Ching Maglangit; Verano & the late Beth Asidillo, and Loloy & Margie Madjos.

Everybody deserves a second chance

Who among us have not sinned? Have not been put to prison of a sinful act? Or maybe, imprisoned by our individual lifestyle, vices and maybe guilt?

I served 17 years in a place fondly called as “Libingan ng mga buhay” a penal colony. There, I experienced mingling with all sorts of criminally convicted persons acting preferentially in order to survive. It is a community complete with churches of all denominations, vernaculars of all tribes, complexities of personalities, opportunism of prison employees, recreational facilities and most of all the Of all these, I would like to share the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ through the volunteer workers rendering services in the different ministries of the archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro. For at first, it is very hard for a newly released felon, ex-convict, ex-prisoner, to be attended well. I mean, mostly, people will separate t h e m s e l v e s if they will know you came from the prison walls.

But I was not ashamed to tell the truth. When, I and Mrs. Gilda M. Pates, the coordinator of the Prison Ministry, met. I told her all about me. I was so blessed that I never heard any sort of ill-comment. Instead, she advised me to stay and she will look for a job opportunity for me. To my surprise, it is not only me that she has been helping. My fellow housemates were also under her assistance. Prison service is tiresome if you don’t have the true heart and motivation of a good Christian catholic.

“I am going to give you a chance.” These were the words I cannot forget of what Ms. Ana Lea C. Pielago, the Program Director of the Responsible Parenthood and All-Natural Family (RP-NFP) Program of the archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, had told me. My tears fell when I attended the

mass that early morning. Feeling the goodness also of Archbishop Ledesma after I told him honestly of where I came from 17 years ago. God had permitted me to use my talents and skills for the His own Glory. As a volunteer worker of the program, I have really used my talents and skills.

Truly, God uses different instrumentalities for us to experience His goodness. As I attended the Intergenerational Healing Seminar. Revealing my past shocked my fellow participants. They cannot imagine I came from prison. That I am an ex-convict. Yet, I did not experienced being ridiculed and left alone. They admired me instead because I can tell the world where I came from. I told them “ Sasabihin ko sa inyo ito, bahala na kung di ninyo ako matatanggap. Ang importante alam ninyo sino ako at saan ako galling. Kung pagkatapos

malaman ninyo sino ako at iiwasan nyo ako,

This action of mine also m o t i v a t e d o t h e r participants to open up their

problems and struggles.

Why are we afraid of telling our

past? I don’t know of your “why’s” but for me,

facing the reality is my way to go on moving on. I have paid my past with ignominy. I want to leave it inside the prison walls. While in prison, I was very active in Christian fellowships and activities. But it is God’s will that I will go back to where I was. Religion cannot save us. It is our “relation” with God that can save us.

I thank God for all the church workers and volunteers of the different ministries of the archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro for the opportunity you’ve given me to walk a path anew. I cannot have it now if you have not given me that chance. Also for Sister Tess for the chance of being a contributor to LAMDAG, Maraming Salamat Po! God Blessed You!

School heads undergo retreat

Twenty six secondary public school principals in the division of Cagayan de Oro attended the first ever two-day live-in retreat of principals at the Betania Retreat House, Malasag, Cagayan de Oro City. This activity was organized by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro Campus Ministry Association (ACCMA) with Fr. Celerino Reyes, SJ as retreat director. The archdiocese aims to establish campus ministries in all secondary schools and provide continuous formation to the students as well as their teachers and school heads.

Mr. Michael Acenas, ACCMA adviser and organizer, requested me to help facilitate the small group sharing. I was hesitant at first because this was something new for me. I have not experienced it yet and neither has ACCMA given this kind of retreat to the principals. Surprisingly, a good number of them came to Betania and stayed for two days.

I was impressed by their openness and honesty about their struggles and difficulties in their personal life, family and school responsibilities. They told me that the retreat was a welcome opportunity and a relief from their busy schedules. All of them, including some participants from other denominations, appreciated Fr. Cel’s simple presentation of prayer and personal life discernment that is applicable to their workplaces.

Since 2011, I have been involved in this type of mission to public schools. Most Rev. Antonio J. Ledesma, SJ, DD advised us to start the mission in Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School before

Abp. Ledesma with Fr. Reyes and School Headsgoing to the other secondary schools. This was jointly supported by the catechetical ministry, Xavier University Campus Ministries, some teachers from the Department of Education, Tukod and Alpha volunteers of the Council of Lay Ecclesial Movements and Organizations of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro (CLEMOACO), some volunteers from private schools, and St. John Vianney Theological Seminary.

The Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium by Pope Francis reinforced ACCMA’s resolve to contribute to the new evangelization and direction of the archdiocese, the Gospel is preached to the poor. The kerygma and catechesis are given to the “poor” students and teachers. After this initial formation, they are provided access to the sacraments, brought and integrated to the parishes. Later, the students and teachers are encouraged to be involved in ACCMA parish ministries and missions.

After the two-day retreat of principals, they were inspired to seriously start their dependencies in prayer and listening to God. Some of them from the national high schools of the barangays of Puerto, Macabalan, Tignapoloan, Bayabas and Tablon felt the immediate need to share Alpha’s kerygma recollection: “Is there more to life than this?” to their respective teachers and even included it in the in-service training (INSET) in May 2015.

As a result, about 150 teachers completed the recollection and received inner healing. Some of them testified that they were released from spiritual burdens they have been carrying for several years. They also personally experienced peace and forgiveness from Jesus.

160th Anibersaryo sa San Nicolas de

Tolentino Gisaulog

Filipino –Chinese Community Celebrates Feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz

On September 28, 2015, the Filipino-Chinese Community celebrated the Feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz during the Eucharistic celebration presided by Msgr. Florencio Salvador, SSJV, with Fr. Gil Escalante, Fr, Raul Dael, the homilist, and the ORO Clergy.

Fr. Raul Dael narrated a story of the gathering of all businessmen around the world. They want to identify the qualities of a good businessman. These are the qualities: one can see beyond, one knows when is the right timing, and one has the capacity to risk.

He said that being a disciple, one has the capacity to risk, a disciple is willing to invest their lives and their

future on something that last or something that shall remain.

St. Lorenzo Ruiz is an example of a wise disciple who too risk and faced death. He said that he is a devout Christian and ready to die for Christ. He said: “If I had a thousand lives, I will give all of them to him.” This statement proved that he is a true disciple of God.

Fr. Dael challenged everyone to imitate St. Lorenzo Ruiz whose faith we want to pass on to our youth ad children. After the mass , the parishioners and guests joyfully shared the sumptuous meal and were entertained by musical presentation of children and adults. (Lamdag News)

NIHABReadings of the Day: Dec.16-Dec.25

Walay dili lami, lami gyud as in, astang lamia pa gyud super na super, mao nga siging habhab siging pangita’g laing food. Walang patawad sa food, walang patawad sa body, walang patawad sa self at walang patawad sa others. HUHUHUHUHU! NIHAB! Ang paboritong kan-anan mao ang eat all you can. Bisan busog na mokaon pa. N-I-H-A-B Nabusog Intawon Hinabhaba Ang Bulaos HAY NAKU!

Nahunahunaan nako nga kon ani ang pamaagi nato sa pagpangaon, nan dili kita angay nga moingon nga KAON NA! ang atong angay nga iingon HABHAB NA! HABHAB NA! HABHAB NA! Pwedi pud.

Pwedi ba kining mahitabo? Syempre! pwede! Why? It is because God nga nagpakatawo - gipikaspikas Niya. gibahinbahin Niya ug gihatag Niya ang iyang SELF kanatong tanan. Is it cool? Kanang wala nay first world ug third world countries. Ano ba yan? Hay naku! Hahahahahah! (kaya sabaysabay nating isigaw sa buong daigdig). BAHIN TA’G TARONG! ( 1,000,000,000,000XXX, pls!)

Ingon nila daghan daw NIHAB ilabina panahon sa Pasko.Tinuod? Hala! KAON NA! (Aw klaroha na bah!)…………BAHIN NA! MABAHINBAHINONG PASKO KANATONG TANAN!

Opol Parish holds Parade of the Saints

By: Sem. Michael Andrew Yu

Instead of the usual creepy Halloween costumes, the Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Opol, Misamis Oriental held a parade of the saints last October 31, 2015.

At least 43 participants, represented by various Basic Ecclesial Communities cells of chapels within the parish, joined the parade by wearing costumes of St. Joseph, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, etc. Fr. Lourdesio Armstrong P. Balacuit, parish priest of Opol, even participated in the activity dressed as St. John Marie Vianney.

Angel Abaday, Opol parish youth coordinator, said the parade of the saints gives the parishioners an opportunity to meet and to know the lives of some saints. It also gives everyone a clearer message that Halloween and All Saints’ Day is not about wearing fancy or even “demonic” costumes but a celebration to commemorate the exemplary deeds of the saints.

“Ang parada sa mga santos nagpamatuod nga buhi ug madasigon kaayo ang matag selda sa BEC sa among parokya tungod kay ubay-ubay man ang niapil ug malipay ka nga magtan-aw sa kadaghan sa mga parokyano,” she said.

Sem. Christian Presillas

said the activity was the first to happen in their parish and a good way to anticipate the Solemnity of All Saints. The activity culminated with a living rosary activity at the conclusion of the Rosary month and was followed by a Eucharistic celebration.

The Opol Parish is one of the many parishes in the country who organized a parade of saints which is seen as counter-cultural to the western practice of Halloween. The eve of the Solemnity of All Saints is known as “All Hallow’s Eve” or Halloween. However, western influence eradicated the “holy” in Halloween by dressing up like vampires, zombies, and other creatures of the night, which is of pagan origin.

Laudato Si Concert Reaffirms Stewardship of Creation

“The Earth is our common home.” It is a divine gift in the highest order, endowed upon the human race by no less than the Creator Himself. But with this gift comes an investiture that has not been rescinded to this day. The stewardship of this jewel of God’s creation has been widely misunderstood and abused leading to degradation of the planet’s ecosystems. Pope Francis, in his encyclical “Laudato Si,” has made a recent call to all who partake of the bounty of magnificent creation to take responsibility in the management and care of this shared home.

A Tribute to Mother Earth and the Integrity of Creation Concert was held on October 3, 2015 at the Atrium of Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro. Registration started at 6:00 PM a video presentation on the Hidden Treasure of Agutayan by Mr. Jhonny

Cabreira and the videos about Laudato Si’ formed part of the first program. The second part started with the invocation led by Friend and Music Band, followed by a video of the Philippine National Anthem and the Opening Salvo was presented by UCCP Praise and Worship Band. The presentation of the band started by the Play for Change Band; followed by Dodu Abrio and the Viajeros; Friends and Music; MORESCO-1 power band with Mr. Jhonny Cabriera; and UCCP Praise and Worship Band. Then Msgr. Florencio Salvador gave his short inspirational message and followed by a video message from Bishop Antonio J. Ledesma, S.J., D.D. There were also tribal bands from Bukidnon who performed in the concert namely: Daraghuyan and Apolang tribal youth band of Malaybalay; Sinanglay and Yagungyong ta Impasugong; Kalayag tribal band; Bukidnon

State University (BSU) Chorale and Waway Saway and Kadugo Band.

This is our home and collectively, we, as heirs and stewards of this planet must respond to the call of Laudato Si through the medium that we all understand. The night paid homage to Mother Earth with melodies and vocalizations and united as one community of faithful humans offered a tribute to the Integrity of Creation. Music is the medium that soothes even a savage beast. Let the Earth be restored to the lushness of Eden. Let poor humanity be restored to the glorious image and likeness of the Creator. Let this be our declaration to the world at large, we cross social and theological boundaries and sing in harmony as one race and one community in support of “Laudato Si.”“We are the ordained stewards of this planet and we reaffirm our commitment to that investiture!”
