There may be difficult and challenging times in our lives, during which we feel as if we are alone and abandoned. As a family, parents and children ought to work together to manage life’s trial. “Managing Family Setbacks” shares some insights that may be useful for everyone.

We can be creative by designing weekend activities with the children that will highlight the importance of God’s love and parental love. Parents often come up with the most

Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.

Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others,

Isn’t always “me f irst,” Doesn’t fly off the handle,

Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,Doesn’t revel when others grovel,

Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything,

Trusts God always, Always looks for the best,

Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.

innovative ideas to celebrate life with children because they are used to it. “The ‘Authoritative’ Parents” reveals that all parents can be innovative leaders of the family and it does not require a challenging transformation process.

Family activities may involve sharing of food and eating together, which certainly sound fun. “Eating Healthy Towards a Healthy Life” . Last Valentine’s Day and the month of February offer an opportunity for the entire family to express their love for one another. Different children express themselves differently . The end of February does not mean the end of love. We should continue to express and celebrate love throughout the remaining 11 months of the year. Let us always remind ourselves of our love for God, our love for our partners, our love for our children, and our love for our friends everyday, each of the 365 days of the year.

Great healthy life in a natural way is not just a trend it is a lifestyle. With a variety ways to healthy life this small

place at the heart of Jalan Mertanadi is definitely a place to stop by. Offering the fresh juice using the cold pressed method, this way of creating the fresh is one of the best ways to have great result of juice and ‘Pressed Juice Factory’ has just the likely the best nature juice to every fruit, vegetable, and nut, carefully processed to keep the nutrition and vitamins alive within the juice.

Browsing around their shop for the first time, we will find some interesting name such ‘Sweet

Gold’, ‘Mike Thyson’, ‘Nutty in Pink’ etc.. On the menu they divide everything into 4 fresh titles: Greens (mostly from vegetables), Hydrators (fruits), Roots, and Raw Nut Milk. We can analyze our condition at the moment, whether we need one of these menus to take home bottles of 400 ml of freshness, or we would like to try with their detox program (1, 3, 5, or 7 Day Cleanse Program).

Doctors say that good nutrition juices creates good healthy body, trying one or more of these bottle of pressed juice could surely help to keep the doctors away.

Bali Friendships and Le Scenia Meat Shop & Bistro get their hands together to help the victim of Balangan Beach fire, collecting fund by throwing a dinner at Le Scenia. We had a

Kilo in JalanDrupadi, Seminyak is one of the be the darling of the area, designed with modern-industrial atmosphere, stylish glass

wall overlooking the greens of garden and of course, delicious choices of Refined Comfort Food such Asian, and Latin American. The name ‘Kilo’ said to be the word to communicate space that serves up good food, tasty music and hearty conversations. We sat down with the very friendly Alejandro from Kilo and he also adds that the place embraces gastronomic experience, also the sharing culture experience.

Four choices of Protein Bowls from Kilo might be the most recommended if you’re here for the first time. The healthy, hearty and savory choices of Pork Belly, Beef Short Ribs, Roasted veggies & Tofu and pan-seared Don Buri Salmon were served with sweet corn, radishes, green beans, bean sprouts, mushrooms and wasabi sprouts.

What could be the appetite adventure would be the Squid Ink Rice, where you should eat at the same the combination of crispy baby squid, salmon roe, plus the squid-ink infused rice. Something like tastes that take turns to finally dances together on your tongue.

To treat yourself with some good refined comfort food with a touch of gastronomic experience and some famous cocktail, Kilo definitely a place to visit.

Potato Head’s FARM TO

TABLE

Potato Head Beach Club shows the love by supporting local farmers and “small family owned” farms to ensure that the produce they

get are of the highest quality. This movement will also keep the quality of produce fresh as there is less “air” travel between the farms to their restaurant. Potato Head Beach Club ‘farm-to-table’ focuses its emphasis on freshness, seasonality, local availability and simple preparations.” Well said and nicely done!

The concept “Farm to Table” has been introduced for a number of years especially in countries such as the United States and Europe where sustainable farming and agriculture started. It defines food as served as locally straight from the farm produces, as fresh and local as it can be. Bali is an island that is over abundant with amazing quality of rich soil and balanced temperature to grow many varieties of vegetables and fruits.

Last month students from Bali Lighthouse visited to witness how everything is done in the right way. From preparing, mixing ingredients, and bake it well in the kitchen of Potato Head Beach Club, and they love what they see and what they do while having fun in the kitchen!

School Supplies& Books, Where to buy?

Inevitably, your child learns through their time, classes, experience and of course in that process they need some tools to support them. If you

lived long enough in Bali then most probably you know already that to find common school supplies is not that hard. But if you’re new to find school supplies in Bali and wonder to buy art tools, then Bali Artemedia might be the one you should visit, finding oil, acrylic, or water colours, pad, paper, canvas, board should be easy to find here, and depends on where you live, they have more than one store to be closer to you, at Denpasar :Jl.ImamBonjol, Sanur: Jl.DanauBuyan no.26A, Ubud: Jl.RayaPeliatan, and Canggu : Jl.PantaiBrawa.

Reading, collecting and finding books is a good culture, we may say it’s good gesture to children’s mind to develop their intelligence, creativity and problem solving behavior, stay hungry to find out what’s more out there by just technically collecting books, magazines, newspapers. To get new fresh books, there are choices of local bookstores around the town and Books & Beyond, Periplus are considerably two best choices. Well known Shopping Malls and Arcades in Bali should be the place to find them, such Discovery, Bali Collection, Bali Deli, Hardy’s, Kuta Square, Beachwalk, Lippo Mall, Lippo Plaza or NgurahRaiAirpport.

So if that old saying “knowledge is king” means something to you, then these places should be a good place for you and your children to find the ‘king material’.

WOMAN OF THE MONTH

In Indonesia’s famous island paradise that is Bali, Seminyak is known by

residents and visitors as one of the most famous tourist destinations. The area takes pride in its beautiful and tranquil beaches, eclectic shops, and world famous cafés and restaurants; among these a restaurant, lounge, and teahouse stands out , a place filled of love, where one fine afternoon me and my husband made a short meaningful visit to meet the great woman behind Biku.

As we sat over a beautiful hightea with a very down to earth lady, Asri. We slowly find out that Biku started with the love of tea by Asri and it was her eldest son, Tjok De, who helped her and her second son, Tjok Gus ( Max) develop their extensive tea menu .Her partner in Biku is Max, her second son. Tjok De, the eldest is a homeopath and helps from time to time.; Asri who is an Australian turned Balinese princess, Jero Asri Kerthayasa, who was formerly known as Jane Gillespie. Asri’s eldest son is a tea master and he helped his mother established a place where Bali visitors and residents can enjoy a good cup of tea. Aside from serving the best cups of tea in Bali, the mother and son team also offer tea appreciation classes, great food, and music.

Biku is not just about a business, it is about Asri’s love of Bali. Biku is a showcase of her love of what Bali have to offer. She disclosed her plans for Biku and her plans are not based on building an empire. Her plans are anchored on the various things that she loves in her host country and Bali. As much as she enjoys the high tea all over the world specially at the Peninsula HongKong, she wants to offer the best tea varieties at Biku, she wants to offer the best chocolates that Indonesia has, none of her plans are based on pure business decisions, her plans and aspirations are based on love and passion, and Biku juts out among its competition. The tea plantation at Danau Tamblingan where they started a small tea plantation to cater the in house tea, the Danau Tamblingan Tea is definitely a must try thing in Biku.

Decisions must be anchored on love and passion, love and passion will energize us and allow us to pursue the best in our plans, there are too many happenings in Bali and recently a lot of people coming in doing business in Bali with a different mindset, it is always advisable to be part of the culture. Love and passion come first, there is always the right time and place for everything.

Most of the times we do not keep in mind that our children develop an understanding of the concept of

bravery based on how we share it with them, through actions and words. If we encourage them to overcome their fears, fear of pain, fear of spiders, or perhaps fear of water, and tell them that they are being brave when they overcome these fears, our children will eventually understand that being brave is to have no fears, which is quite distant to what being brave is. Being brave is not bravado, we must always remind our children that we have to act brave not to impress others and ourselves, but because we have to be brave in all instances. Their understanding of bravery develops over time until they know what being brave is and they will act brave when appropriate.

We do not want our children to equate bravery with being fearless, being brave is not about fears, it is about being true, and being just and being right, to ourselves and to others.

Some parents teach their children to be true to themselves first before acting brave, they encourage their children to act or do something only when they are ready to do so.

In allowing our children to be brave when the children themselves are prepared and ready to be brave, we are helping shape their children’s understanding of what brave is. A brave child is not a child that has no fears, because there is not a single child who does not have fears. Children often act to overcome their fears because they are forced to, and this is something that parents must avoid. Being brave is to be true to oneselves and acting brave is only possible when one is true to one’s feelings.

Another aspect of being brave is often forgotten by some parents; being brave is being right, being just.

In reminding them that being brave is being true and being right, our children will develop a proper understanding of what bravery means. As they become older and reach their teenage years, they will apply their understanding in their choices.

When our children understand that being brave is being true and being right they will no longer act simply because they are encouraged by their friends and acquaintances, or even their parents or their teachers. They will be happy and fulfilled indivduals because they are being true to themselves and to their parents, and by they are doing what is right.

Marriage serves many purposes, one of which is the establishment of a home by man and woman, a home that is ideal for

the rearing of children and for a family, a family that fulfills its role in a community.

Parents as LeadersA family experiences successes and failures in life. Successes are often rewards for hard work and perseverance, as leaders parents must guide their children be thankful for the blessings a family enjoy. Life is not all rosy, a family may experience challenges and failures even after working hard and persevering trials. It is during difficult times that the leadership of the parents becomes of great importance to the family.

Leaders with AuthorityThe leaders trusted by their followers. These leaders

are not compelled to lead, they are not obliged to serve. Duty and obligation do not motivate them to be leaders, they serve willingly with their body, mind, and heart. They do not mind spending more time with their partners, they do not mind travelling long distance for their children, and they joyfully cherish the hours they spend with other members of their community.

1. Serving Willingly Out of GratitudeCouples can serve willingly as parents out of gratitude, in the same way that the ideal public servants behave in office. They must always think of the people’s welfare first in making decisions because the people elected them as representatives in governance.

2. Self Giving Leadership“The self giving leader is so desirous to meet the needs of her people that he is willing to make available all resources, including material ones to do so.”

3. Tender Leadership Guides through ActsA family with bossy parents faces great challenges in child rearing. Children do not only listen to parental instructions, they also see and observe the behaviour and actions of their parents.

“Leading by example necessitates transparency. A man who is honest about his struggles can be tender because he understands how it feels struggling and facing life’s trials and challenges. People respect leaders who are honest about their struggles, and follow those whose intentions are transparent.”
