Just as your students become good archers and competitors by practicing and competing, you become a good coach by coaching• There have been more technological advances in

archery equipment in the past ten years than in the past ten centuries combined

• Keeping up with these changes is a difficult task• Use the internet to your advantage for research and

networking between peers

Be The Expert

• A coach is an expert who can offer timely and accurate advice to their students and guide them to making the right choices in the sport

• Knowledge is the key that a coach uses to unlock the potential in a student

Where To Learn

There are many places to gain this knowledge today• Manufacturers’ web sites, archery forums on internet

message boards• Archery trade shows, archery shops, clubs and

ranges are excellent places to meet other experts, examine new equipment and stay on top of changes in equipment and the game

• You should constantly seek continued education through coaching courses and seminars

• A coach should be a leader in the archery community• Be a member of an archery club and at least one of the major national

archery organizations• National organizations require membership to compete in sanctioned

events, even at the local level• Your students will have to join a national organization sooner or later• Internet links and contact information is provided on your resource disk• Use your resource disk for documents that can help you find more

information, reading material and links to interesting places that will keep you updated on the goings on in the archery world.
