The Sound Engineering and Lighting Squad (SEaLS) Our newest Beecroft extracurricular team, the SEaLS, made their spectacular debut at the four K-2 Concerts, lighting up the stage with themed coloured sequences that complemented each performance perfectly. The nineteen SEaLS have been comprehensively trained, by parent and P&C President, Ben McSweeney, in the effective use of the updated sound and lighting equipment donated by our generous P&C. Ben and the SEaLS gave up many lunchtimes rehearsing and finetuning their skills for this event and on behalf of our school community, I would like to thank and congratulate them on a job well done.

It’s another BIG week for the P&C This week the P&C and the community will be supporting our school in many ways. On Wednesday, the Canteen will celebrate their accreditation as a Healthy Canteen with a healthy treat option. On Wednesday evening, the P&C will meet and an important vote will be held that will enable the canteen to improve and enhance its facilities. On Thursday, our P&C Social Committee will provide morning tea and welcome our new 2020 Kindergarten students and parents to our great school. On Friday night, the P&C will host the annual movie night. Thank you to our P&C and school community for your strong support each and every day of the week. Tanya Rose Principal

Deputy Principal’s Report Road Safety Reminder for Families With the school holidays approaching, daily routines will soon change. Different play locations and holiday destinations mean different traffic environments.

So to help keep our children safe, families are reminded about these key road safety points: • Stop, look, listen, think every time you cross the road.

If your child is aged 8 years or younger, hold their hand when walking near or across roads. If your child is 9-10 years old, always actively supervise them.

• It’s the law that everyone wears a helmet when riding a bike in a public place. It makes sense to wear a helmet when riding scooters and skateboards too!

• Click clack front ‘n back every person for every trip. Everyone in the car must be securely buckled up in the right seatbelt or child restraint.

• Talk to your child about being a safe road user. Reinforce safe road behaviours by being a good role model! Children learn safe road behaviours from the adults who care for them. Talk about what you are doing to be safe when near roads, in the car and when riding.

• Point out road safety differences and dangers in new environments. This is especially important when on holidays in different surroundings. Roads, footpaths, parks, carparks, bike tracks and bike lanes may look different in holiday areas.

The best way to keep your child safe is to actively supervise them. Talk to and teach your child about road safety every time you are out and about. Remind other adults who care for your children to do this too. Eco Corner Report More Harvesting, Planting and Watering This week the Knights harvested, watered and planted string beans, bush cucumbers and corn which should be ready for harvesting in November/December. Ben the Green Garden Guru In knowledge we grow

The Sound Engineering and Lighting Squad (SEaLS) How wonderful were the K-2 performances last week? All the children had so much fun in their own and collective ways. And just as much fun was had by the four SEaLS teams who oversaw the lighting of the shows, with controls being changed slowly and then frantically to add illuminating and sparks to the wonderful performances on the stage. Yesterday the SEaLS had a review meeting and discussed what worked and why it worked, and ways to make the next performance POP even more. Ben McSweeney P & C President
