Thought for this week….by Rev. Canon Trevor Denley…

For those of us who are able to watch daytime TV, ‘Flog It’ is a possibility! One thing that constantly fascinates me is that items, generally Dinky or Corgi toys achieve the best outcome if they are still in the box, untouched and unused.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem he was vaunted as The Saviour, The Messiah. Within a few days that acclamation turned to hatred.

Page 3: beneficelentreflections.files.wordpress.com€¦  · Web viewAlmighty and everlasting God, who in your tender love towards the human race sent your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ to

We can fall into the trap at Easter of accepting the Risen Christ as our Saviour, but keeping him pristine and unused and ‘still in the box.’ If we do that we miss out on its joy, its guidance and the love he brings.

So this Easter, unwrap Christ, experience the wonder, the love, the joy and the support.

The PCC are aware that we have been struggling recently to keep the church as clean as we would all like. The Standing Committee have agreed that we will arrange for a cleaner which would mean a weekly cost of £30. We will pay for this from general funds, however we would ask you to consider if you can increase your giving to help cover the cost. We plan to review the situation in three months’ time, to see if this is affordable and sustainable in the longer term.
