Northern KY Chapter founded late October 2014 Recruit and select students by April 2015 Strategy
Open Houses High School Visits
Location: Local conference center & chapter company (HAHN Automation) Audience: Parents and their high school aged kids
Educators from local high schools Layout for event:
NKY FAME and State of Kentucky representatives at introduction table Individual company tables with materials and demonstrations Current apprentice involvement, including Bluegrass AMTs
Outcome: Generated initial excitement and interest Established NKY FAME in the community
Open House Events
Presentations at local high schools Targeted primarily juniors and seniors Explained FAME program, dispelled misconceptions, and encouraged
applications Opportunity to educate teachers and counselors as well
School superintendents visit to Bosch Automotive Steering Showcase modern advanced manufacturing as a career pathway
High School Visits & Educator’s Meeting
Timing of recruitment efforts was the biggest challenge Many seniors had already made their college decisions in December
Lack of buy-in from schools Need to continue to educate teachers/counselors about manufacturing
Recruitment efforts need to be more purposeful and maximize resources

Summer Externship Program
LIFT ProgramProvides the opportunity for local educators to get“real world” experience so that they may demonstrateto the students the applicability of the lessons andprovide guidance to students who may be a good fit forcareers in manufacturing.
Externship - Summer 2015
Program:
Hahn Automation and Bosch Automotive Steering
Worked with High School Superintendents, KCTCS, and Jefferson County Subject Matter Expert, Debbie Anderson
Teacher Participation from Boone County High Schools, Grant County High School, and Kenton County High Schools
Outcomes:
Monday Morning: Teachers Prepare Off-siteTuesday through Thursday: Teachers work in a variety of areasFriday : Teachers prepare off-site how they will apply and report out to the hosted Companies.
Cannot put a percent on Return on Investment!!
• Educators gave priceless feedback to companies.
• Partnerships were built
• Educators became champions of KY FAME AMT Program
• Presentations such as “WHY IS KY FAME ONE OF THE BEST OPTIONS IN EDUCATION TODAY?”• Educators counsel students and work with GCTC

Goals:Recruit qualified and diverse AMT students to meet the enrollment goals of the NKY FAME Chapter
Expand recruitment initiatives to attract an increased number of students from independent schools, local ATC and CTC programs, and schools and programs outside of KY
Increase the academic profile of incoming AMT students, particularly in the area of math
Strategies:
Reach a wider audience of prospective AMT students through the use of social media

Divide up school districts and assign to member companies
Invite school superintendents and schools to participate in recruitment
Utilize current AMT students

Recruitment
• Primary recruitment activities to take place September through December
• Priority application deadline: December 31, 2015
• Final application deadline: January 31, 2016
Interview
• Students screened for program eligibility (ACT, etc.) and scheduled for interviews starting in January 2016
• Application review and interviews will be conducted until a sufficient pool is established
Acceptance
• Chapter reviews interview feedback and makes acceptance decisions by March 2, 2016
• Draft for companies to take place on March 2, 2016
• Students are notified of their status (acceptance and sponsorship or waitlist) by March 4, 2016
Enrollment
• AMT students begin work at their sponsoring company: July 11, 2016
• New AMT Student orientation: TBD
• Fall 2016 classes begin: August 16, 2016
