lead the nation towards sustainable development. At IMS, we ensure that every student is nurtured by providing plethora of opportunities for personal and professional growth. Our focus is to instill values related to strong character, integrity and developing professionals with character, optimism and compassion.

Our current issue is a reflection of the efforts put in by IMS family, for reaching the new benchmarks in the field of education and research. We let the students imagine, believe and achieve the heights of contentment and happiness. Our unstoppable urge of letting the students know the industry perspective and imbibe the skill set for gaining competitive edge, makes all our efforts unique in itself. One of the initiatives “Earn While You Learn” is a step towards hands-on learning & development, where students are encouraged to unleash the creativity on a common platform. The newsletter also highlights Convocation, industry meets, conferences and activities of student driven clubs.

PULSE is a medium to showcase the activities and events, which are meticulously planned by the institute. It is designed to provide proper acknowledgement to all the efforts taken by the faculty and staff for the overall development of the students. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Shri. Rakesh Chharia- General Secretary and Patron, Dr. Sapna Rakesh –Director, Dr. Pooja Rastogi -Dean and all the faculty members who contributed to this edition. The valuable suggestions and opinions for further improvements in the coming issues will be highly solicited.

Highlights of the Issue

In this current issue, we have tried to cover a range of activities planned for student learning centric development. We are delighted to share National Conference, Convocation, Pulse -An Annual Inter Institutional Cultural Fest, Spardha- Annual Sports Festival and Departmental Inter Institutional Fests namely Markfest (Management), Invent (IT) and Genesis (Biosciences).

The issue also covers second series of Global Immersion Programme (GIP), which is undeniably the most relevant aspect for developing cross cultural understanding. Networking activities through Alumni Meet-Smriti, Convocation and Founder’s Day celebration are also covered in order to accentuate the joy of belongingness and affinity. MIB launch and excellent rankings attained by the college also reflect the new benchmarks in education.

The edition also contains informative details on student driven clubs and sessions on skill development through industry academia interface. The issue ponders on the opportunities availed by the students, who have exhibited the competitive spirit on a common platform.

chool of Biosciences organized National Conference on ‘Recent Trends & Advances in Biotechnology’ on S26th November, 2016 under the kind patronage of Sh. Rakesh Chharia Ji, General Secretary- IMS Group of Institutions. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. R.B. Singh, Honorable Chancellor-Central

Agricultural University, Imphal and Prof. Seyed E. Hasnain, Honorable Vice Chancellor- Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi.

Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director in her welcome address expressed her contentment in bringing together researchers from academia, industry and the government organizations to ensure knowledge sharing for societal upliftment. During the inaugural session, first edition of Bi-Annual Newsletter- ‘Pulse’ and Conference Souvenir were released by the dignitaries.

Dr. Abha Vashistha-Chairperson, Biosciences extended a note of gratitude to research scholars and students from 47 different Universities and institutes from Jammu, Bangalore, Varanasi, Kharagpur, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jhansi, Kanpur, Jaipur, Lucknow, Nainital, Aligarh, Dehradun and Delhi NCR.The Valedictory Session was concluded with appreciation and optimism.


IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus announced its 10th launch of MIB Batch 2017. The course offers specialization in Marketing, Finance, IT & Operations and Human Resource. The distinguished benchmarks of the course including excellent career opportunities, 3 tier mentoring programme, European pedagogy adapted model and global exposure are meticulously planned for effective and efficient results. To keep students upgraded, Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) is designed to incorporate effective feedback mechanism. The curriculum of MIB and PGD is an outcome of elaborate reviews from distinguished industry experts and academician, influenced by the experience of various other premier institutes and Universities of India and abroad. ‘Smriti’-The Alumni Meet was organized on the eve of 26th March, 2017. It was a time for all alumni to refresh their golden memories with friends, seniors, juniors along with faculty and staff members. The inaugural program started with heart touching message by Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director. She praised the achievements of alumni and shared that it was a matter of pride for the institute to see all of them holding top position in corporate world. The occasion was graced by more than 500 alumni of various programmes. The Chairperson of Alumni Relations- Prof. Kumar Saurav expressed his gratitude to all the members present and focused on maintaining long term relations with alma mater constantly, by involving them in industry connect programmes of the institute.

GLOBAL IMMERSIONPROGRAMME

he Global Immersion Program (GIP) was Torganized in January & February 2017 at IMS for the students to emerge as global leaders.

The concept of GIP is based on 360 degree global view and building capabilities around resolving complex global issues. The cross cultural interaction with nationals of Egypt, Brazil, Turkey, Russia, China, Iran ,Uganda and many more makes Global Immersion Programme a unique programme in itself. The programme also provides opportunity to the students to learn cross cultured management by travelling abroad .Ms. Sheetal Malik along with faculty colleagues guided the students effectively, under the guidance of Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director and Dr. Pooja Rastogi, Dean.

brought together an amazing assortment of young minds to engage in cultural exchange and gain firsthand experience of negotiation. The delegates from different schools and Universities acted as UN representatives and debated on international issues. March, 2017.Pulse was categorized in 13 different mega events namely-Meri Awaaz (solo singing), Mere Sang (duet singing), Razmattaz (group dance) , Natrajan (solo dance), Counter strike (IT Gaming), Kalakriti(rangoli making), Talkathon (extempore),Sankalan (collage making), Prashnotri(quiz competition),Taal Se Taal Mila(antakshri),Fashionista (fashion show), Abhinay (skit) & Capture The Event(imagery). More than 100 colleges participated including renowned Universities and prestigious institutions.

The fest was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Narendra Dahiya-Senior, Director, Microsoft; Mr. Wishwas Julka-VP, Global TATA Group Sales, Tata Technologies; Mr. Rakesh Chharia-General Secretary, IMS Group of Institutions & Mr. Pramod Agarwal-Executive Member, IMS Group of Institutions.

The celebrity Parampara Thakur-Winner of Voice India Season, mesmerized everybody with her melodious voice. All the contestants put their heart and soul in their performances and dazzled everyone with their awesomeness.

‘Markfest’- An Annual Inter Institutional Management Fest was organized by Management Department, from 24th -25th November, 2016. The aim behind organizing such a marvelous fest is to teach the practical implications of various subjects so that students have a glimpse of the real corporate world. Students from various other departments also took active participation in the fest.

The guests for the event were Mr. Subhankar Ghose -Chief People Officer, Zoom Insurance Brokers Pvt. Ltd & Ms. Aastha Sawhney-Manager Digital Marketing & Content Manager, Naukri.com. There was an enthusiastic participation of students from more than 30 leading B-schools of Delhi -NCR. The students of Delhi University, Amity University, SRM University, Shiv Nadar University, Noida International University etc showcased their talent and skills. The events were designed to inspire, challenge and amaze everyone with new marketing strategies. The following events - Brand Selfie, New Product Launch, Design It, Marketing Strategist, Brand Makeover and Brand War, attracted a large audience. Dr. Pooja Rastogi, Dean & Dr. Geeti Sharma, Chairperson BBA managed the entire fest with the support of all the faculty and staff members.

developers. The event was formally inaugurated by Chief Guest- Mr. Virender Kaushik, Vice President-IT, Max Healthcare and Guest of Honor –Mr. Manoj Tandon, CEO, TMTC. It was sponsored by ANDRO JAVA Training and Development Institute. More than 20 colleges participated in innovative events such as Innovative Idea Presentation, Design Maestro, Code Guru, Doodle Army, Clash Royale and IT Quiz. Dr. Charu Sharma, Chairperson BCA successfully organized the fest with her team mates.

chool of Biosciences organized ‘Genesis-2016’ an Inter–Institutional SScience Fest from 11th to 12th November, 2016. The program was inaugurated by Chief Guest- Dr. Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, famous

scientoonist of India & an awardee of outstanding young person of the world by Junior Chamber International (USA). More than 180 selected students from 36 different schools and colleges participated in the fest. Students exhibited their knowledge in various events such as Knock Down, Biopost, Insta Think, Biosplash, Sci Thinker, Sci Quest, Scientoon and Sci Street Theatre.

The valedictory session was presided over by Prof. Y. Vimala-Dean Science, Dean Student Welfare and Head, Department of Botany, C.C.S. University Meerut. She appreciated the students for their overwhelming response and their quest for practical approach and applications. Dr. Abha Vashistha coordinated the festival along with her team members.

DIGITAL SNAPPING & DIGIMANIA | DIGITAL MARKETING CLUB Digital Marketing Club organized ‘Digital Snapping’ & ‘DigiMania’ on 23rd March,2017 & 28th September, 2016 respectively. The objective of these events was to create awareness among the students and extract latent creativity of students involved in advertisement making. The faculty coordinator, Prof. Kumar Saurav conducted the event along with student volunteers namely-Manish Agarwal , Urvashi Mittal , Yogya Mehrotra , Kshitij Singh Rathore and Vaibhav Chaudhary for effective outcome.

DISCUSSION PLATFORMS | FINANCE CLUBThe Finance Club organized ‘A Panel Discussion on Union Budget 2017-18’ on 27th February, 2017 to gain clarity of Union Budget announced by Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley. ‘Financial Planning’ & ‘Finance Quiz’ with special reference to tax saving instruments was also organized by the Club on 18th November, 2016. ‘The GST Conference’ was conducted on 24th September, 2016 to analyze its long term consequences. The faculty coordination team - Dr. Pradeep Bhardwaj, Mr. Dhruv Sharma & Mr.Subhro Sen Gupta coordinated all the activities along with student representatives- Kshama Gupta, Shivangi Yadav, Richa Tomar and Muskan Rastogi.

MATHS CONTESTS | MATHEMANIA CLUB Maths can be fun! With this aim Mathemania Club organized ‘Maths Race’ on 19th November, 2016. ‘JAM’ & ‘Mathematical Tambola’ were also planned for enhancing numerical quotient on 16th February, 2017 & 21st September, 2016 respectively. The faculty team members- Ms. Divya Chhibber and Mr.Abhishek Mishra handled the events along with student representatives-Madhav Garg , Akshit Pundir , Radhika Gupta and Shreya Rakesh.

TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES | SRIJAN CLUBSrijan-The HR Club, organized ‘Team Building Activities’ and ‘Role Play’ to improve communication, coordination and inter-personal skills of the budding managers. The events took place on 17th March, 2017 & 22nd September, 2016 respectively, under the guidance of Dr. Shilpi Sarna, Ms. Akansha Tyagi & Ms. Nidhi Srivastava. The student members of the Club- Meenal Giri, Nandini Sharma, Rahul Raj, Prateek Sharma, Aksha Singh, Shweta Sharma and Sanjana Yadav worked with great enthusiasm.

THINK OUT OF THE BOX | BIG IDEA CLUB‘Think Out of the Box’ was organized by the Club on 16th November, 2016. The students got an opportunity to explore and bring out the hidden aspects aiming at innovative solutions. The above mentioned events were executed by Dr. Geeti Sharma & Ms. Shenki Tyagi.They also guided the student members of the Club namely-Shivangi Pundhir, Manish Agarwal, Shivangi Yadav, Tezan Rastogi, Mansi Grag and Heena Tyagi.


CREATIVE MODEL DESIGN | NETWORK CLUBNetwork Club of IT Department organized ‘Creative Model Design’ on 17th February, 2017. Our alumnus Mr. Gaurav Kumar- Sr.Business Development Manager, Digital Pugs graced the event as Chief Guest. Students prepared 3D models on various networking concepts such as network topologies, wireless media, networking devices & connectors. The event was well organized by the faculty coordinator, Mr. Ashutosh Sharma along with student volunteers - Yatendra Kumar Sharma and Rashmi Chauhan.

TECHRADIANCE & C PROGRAMMING | DEKSTOP APP CLUBIMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus organized ‘TechRadiance 17’ in association with ‘Radiance17(IIT Mumbai): National Level Championship & Workshop Series on Digital Marketing’ on 18th and 19th November, 2016. The session was inaugurated by Ms. Charu Sharma-Chairperson BCA; Dr. Gagan Varshney & Mr. Alok Chauhan. The workshop was conducted by Er. Gaurav Kumar. He explained various strategies using digital marketing applications in real life situations.

Competition on ‘Concepts and Coding in C’ and ‘Coding and Debugging in C’ were also planned by the Club on 15th November , 2016 and 16th September, 2016 respectively . Ms. Bindu Trikha assisted the students for effective results during both the sessions. The student team members-Madhav Garg, Rishabh Soni and Shubham Goel executed the event successfully.

Programming Workshop & Online Gaming | WEBAPP CLUBWebApp Club organized ‘HTML Workshop’ for BCA first year students on 12th November, 2016 & 6th March, 2017, under the guidance of Mr. Gaurav Kaushik. This event focused on basic and advanced tools of HTML.

‘Online Gaming: Mini Militia’ an event based on experiencing intense multiplayer combat in multiplayer mode was planned on 23rd November, 2016. Mr. Gaurav Kaushik coordinated the event smoothly. The student volunteers- Abhishek Padhi , Harsh Gangwar , Vartika Kansal , Apeksha Goel and Kajal Rana coordinated all the activities.



DOCUMENTARY & PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION | DP CLUBDocumentary and Photography Club organized a ‘Documentary Competition’ on 10th October, 2016. It was an intra college competition consisting of ten teams. Abhishek Kaushik, Ekansh Pandey and Shivendra Singh extended their full cooperation as student representatives of the Club. Mr. Girish Kumar Singh coordinated the events enthusiastically.

The Club also conducted a ‘Photography Competition’ on 20th September, 2016 .The event was planned with an objective to unleash creative skills of the students by using latest equipments.

MEDIA CONCLAVEStudents of BJMC attended ‘Media Conclave’ on 22nd October, 2016 held at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi. The conclave discussed the issue ‘Kashmir, Terrorism and Media’. The elites put forward their views on how the world can unite and fight against terrorism. The students of BJMC also took part in the discussion by asking their queries. It was a lifetime experience for the students, as they interacted with prominent journalists.

NEWS READING, ANCHORING AND DEBATE COMPETITION | JOURNALISM & MASS COMMUNICATION CLUBThe Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized ‘News Reading Competition’ on 11th November, 2016. Our alumunus- Mr. Amit Sharma, Newsreader- Sudarshan TV graced the event as Chief Guest. The students participated in the competition as English and Hindi news readers.

Debate is one of the academic activities that enriches the students with knowledge and critical analysis .The exposure and knowledge that they gain through this is simply unparallel. Journalism and Mass Communication Club organized a debate competition on 25th October, 2016 on the topic ‘Should Pakistani actors be allowed in Indian Film industry?’There was an overwhelming response from the students. Ms. Kumkum Jain and Dr. Rajshree Chatterjee were the faculty coordinators. The student volunteers from final year- Ekansh Pandey and Ayshu Bhardwaj coordinated the events successfully.

PAINTING COMPETITION | ART & THEATRE CLUBArt & Theatre Club organized a ‘Painting Competition’ on 20th September, 2016 .All the participants made beautiful painting on the theme- Joy& Happiness. Ms. Bindu Trikha & Dr. Rajshree Chatterjee were the faculty coordinators of the event. The students’ team- Abhishek Kaushik and Ashish Ranjan successfully conducted the event.



AWARENESS INITIATIVES | BIONICS CLUB

With a notion to think and re-think about the environment, Bionics Club celebrated ‘Green Consumer Day’ on 28th September 2016. The celebration witnessed active participation from the students in various events such as Poster Making, Best Out of the Waste etc. Students made variety of useful items from waste materials and encouraged all to become green consumers. The event revolved around the 3R principle ‘Reduce-Reuse-Recycle’ among consumers. The day was focused on building the awareness of how we can help in reducing carbon footprints for environment preservation. Students and faculty member encouraged the usage of environment friendly products and discussed the importance of saving water and electricity.

The Club also celebrated World Ozone Day on 16th September 2016. The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is celebrated every year on 16th September to commemorate the day when several nations signed the Montreal Protocol, agreeing on the substances that deplete the ozone layer from the atmosphere and trying to banish them. The event at IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus was based on United Nation’s 2016 theme-‘Ozone and climate: Restore by a World United’. The club organized activities on topics related to the ozone layer, climate change and ozone depletion. The students prepared posters and had a group discussion on the theme of year 2016. The participants interacted with students and explained how depletion of ozone layer affects living beings and nature.

All the above mentioned events were managed by faculty members- Ms. Sarika Srivastava & Ms. Saumya Arora. The student representatives- Deepak Tripathi, Sanjeev Singh , Akshama Bhardwaj and Manisha Sirohi assisted all the participating teams.




ALAAP & ANTAKSHARI | MUSIC CLUBMusic Club organized ‘Let the Music Speak! ALAAP’ on 1st December, 2016 for the students of all the courses. The event consisted of Solo and Duet Singing Competition.‘Antakshari Competition’ was also enjoyed by the students on 16th September, 2016. Dr. Shilpi Sarna extended her full cooperation in the events. The student members of the Club- Sonia, Mehfooz Alam and Vishakha Gupta managed the events with great zeal.

Earn While You Learn | EWLEWL is a platform for the students to earn while studying in the campus. The club was initiated in January 2017, to train the students in the fields of content designing, social media, SEO , Videographics & analytics. The students actively provide their services to the college while pursuing rigorous training sessions. They are paid by the institute for their innovative solutions and creative output.

INTRA COLLEGE SPORTS COMPETITIONS | SPORTS CLUBThe Sports Club organized Intra College Sports Competition- Chess, Carrom and TT Match on 23rd February, 2017.Intra College Badminton Match and Intra College Football Match were also enjoyed by the students of all the courses on 17th November, 2017 & 30th September, 2016 respectively. Dr. Shilpi Sarna and Mr. Santosh Shah extended their full cooperation for the smooth conduction of the activities. Mahfooz Alam, Vishakha Gupta, Heena Malhotra and Amit Balyan coordinated the events as student representatives of the Club.


GRAFFITI COMPETITION & SLAM LITERARY CLUBLiterary Club organized ‘Graffiti Competition’ on 23rd March, 2017. The students prepared unique creative style on a part i cu lar theme such as women empowerment, education, cultural diversity, patriotism etc. The Club also initiated IMS Slam on 7th November, 2016 to encourage verbal expression in the students. Both the events were conducted under the guidance of Dr. Deepa Goel and Ms. Akansha Tyagi. The student volunteers of the Club- Madhav Garg, Rishabh Soni, Vishakha, Shivender and Deepak Tripathi coordinated the events.


BLOOD DONATION CAMPA blood donation camp in association with Rotary Ghaziabad North and Rotary Club Sahibabad was organized on 24th March, 2017 in college premises. Mr. Rakesh Chharia- General Secretary, IMS Group of Institutions; Dr. Sapna Rakesh-Director and Dr. Pooja Rastogi,- Dean welcomed Mr. Mukul Gupta-President, Rotary Club; Mr. Pradeep Gupta–Secretary, Rotary Club; Mr. Ankur Agarwal –Chairman, Blood Donation and Mr. Sudhir Pathak- Camp Incharge. The other team members of Rotary namely Mr. Vivek Agarwal, Mr. Sudhir Goel, Mr. Manoj Agarwal, Mr. Alok Garg, Mr. Ashish Das also assisted the team for impeccable results. All the faculty, staff members and students from various programmes gathered to convey the message to society, "A gift of blood is the gift of life. There is no substitute for human blood". Students were enthusiastic to participate in this noble cause and their participation was heartily welcomed by the members of Rotary Club. The student volunteers - Akshama Bhardwaj, Manisha Sirohi, Madhav Garg , Rishabh Soni, Vaibhav Choudhary, Vishakha Gupta , Himanshu Mishra and Shubham Choudhary exhibited their team management skills effectively.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEMEServing the society is one of the key responsibilities of any citizen. Keeping this in mind, the National Service Camp (NSS) was organized from 6th to 12th March, 2017 in the campus to motivate the students for community development.

The Camp was initiated in the year 2009 and since its inception the institute has glorified the service through young hands. All the participating students involved themselves in activities such as rally, nukkad natak etc. The volunteers taught underprivileged children and tried to make them aware of importance of education. Guest lecturers were also delivered by Doctors in the college, focusing on precaution and prevention. The faculty coordinator- Mr. Ashutosh Sharma guided the students.

PEHEL IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus initiated ‘PEHEL’, a donation camp in collaboration with Love and Care Foundation, under the guidance of Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director. Three-day camp (7th-9th December, 2016) witnessed an excellent response from the students. The members of the club donated clothes and stationary items to underprivileged children in Ghaziabad. The students motivated the residents of the near vicinity to assist the needy in an appropriate way and take small steps each day for eradication of poverty. Mr. Vijay Shukla- Manager CRC successfully conducted the camp along with student volunteers of CSR Club.

PHILANTHROPIC INITIATIVE BY SHRI ACHARYA PRASHANT JIIMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus in association with Ghaziabad Management Association –GMA, organized an interactive session on 16th October, 2016 with Shri Acharya Prashant Ji , Founder- Prashant Advait Foundation on ‘Emotional Outburst to Settled Living’ . He had started his journey through technical and management education at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. His sessions are focused on how to get rid of aggressiveness and bring optimism in one’s attitude. Everybody at IMS, had great learning experience after listening to his words of wisdom.

Fun, frolic, smiles and rejuvenated spirits marked the beginning of Fresher’s Party at IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus. BBA & BJMC Department organized the party- ‘Fresh Chill’ on 22nd November, 2016. Department of Bioscience and IT hosted the party- ‘Aarabdh – The beginning’ on 21st November, 2016. Students of second year enthralled everybody with their energizing dance performances, melodious songs and games. All the young faces glittered with the titles given to them. The mesmerizing music, flash freezing lights, dance floor and the exuberant expressions were the defining moments of the party.

10th March, 2017 was celebrated as family get together ‘JALSA’. All the faculty and staff members came along with their families and enjoyed the theatre show ‘Saiyaan Bhaye Kotwal’. The event was planned to celebrate the festival of colors-Holi, where all the colleagues got an opportunity to know other families. Refreshments and delectable dinner were also served.The faculty appreciated this platform and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Rakesh Chharia-General Secretary, IMS Group of Institutions and Dr. Sapna Rakesh,Director.

The institute organized ‘Kavi Sammelan’ in collaboration with Akhil Bhartiya Shri Bankay Bihari Seva Trust on 16th November, 2016. The well known personalities of Hindi Poetry- Mr. Lekhraj and Mr. Manohar Mittal , presided over the event as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively. The poets on the stage inculcated the feeling of patriotism and encouraged them to raise their voice against the evil practices of the society. Many students were motivated to make a career in poetry and contribute towards nation building.

The Placement Session for the current year 2016-17 started on a brisk note in October, 2016 where top notch corporate had shown their interest to hire our students for live projects, summer internships and final placements. The highest package offered for the final placement for this year was Rs. 4.50 LPA and the average package was Rs. 3.00 LPA. Students selected for the summer internship were offered with the highest stipend of Rs. 15,000 PM and minimum stipend of Rs.5,000 PM.
