Billboard Design Research
Billboards are advertisements that provide information to passing vehicles
and pedestrians. These large formats are typically found in high trac
areas and are viewed at distances of 50 feet or more. There are a few
types of billboards and their sizes usually depend on the speed of trac
and distance from the person viewing it.
The rst thing I notice on this billboard is the big bold red font and a
picture of ana !el "ey. The main theme colours are red and blac# which
is pleasing to viewers from a far away distance as viewers are
immediately attracted to this. The photo of ana !el "ey is in blac# andwhite which shows it$s simplistic but yet pleasing to the target audience.
The image could also imply the nature of her music% and showing the type
of
person she is. The te&t from ana !el "ey$s album may also ma#e people
what to nd out more about her music.

'am smith$s billboard (In the onely )our$ has two sections. The rst we
see is his album cover which has the artists name and album% whereas the
second has the release dates on it as well. This is a typical billboard sign
we$d e&pect to see. The two sections help the target audience #now the
important information such as the name of the album and the release
dates. The main colours blac#% white and grey are simplistic but yet
noticing for the viewers% as we are able to associate him with these
colours all the time. This gives him an identity as an artist% as your able to
establish the type of genre he is. There is also a high continuity between
all his products% which is getting his target audience$s attention even
more.
