The Lion & the Bees There was once a young man called Samson who God had made super-strong! He was stronger than any other man and was able to do amazing things. One day he came home and told his mum and dad that he had seen a young woman in another town that he wanted to marry. She did not believe in God, so his mum and dad were not too happy about this. Samson went to the town with his dad and mum to meet the woman. When they were almost there a lion came roaring toward Samson. God made Samson so strong that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands! A lion! He was- n’t even hurt! His mum and dad didn’t see this happen and he didn’t tell them he had kept them safe from a lion. Then he went into the town and talked with the woman. Some time later Samson went back to the town to marry the woman. On the way he stopped to look at the lion he had killed. Bees had made a hive in the lion. Samson scooped out honey and ate it as he went along. Later, he gave his parents some of the honey but he didn’t tell them that he had taken the honey from the lion he had killed with his bare hands. Samson made up a riddle about this to trick people in the town, this is what it said: "Out of the eater, something to eat; out of the strong, something sweet." KINGO the Lion Kingo the Lion is a favourite in Egypt. It is a show all  about a friendly Lion and his friends.  It started out with  books, but now there is a live show! Lots of children in  Egypt come to see Kingo the Lion’s live show.  Kingo and  friends teach lessons from the Bible in Arabic – the  language that children in Egypt speak.  Hundreds of kids turn up for each performance, often  lots more come than can be squeezed in! Kingo is so  popular.  The best thing is that all these children are  learning about God’s love for them and hearing about  Jesus.  They are learning lots of great things about how  they should live too.  All the children get a Kingo flag to  wave and a CD of Kingo songs to bring home.  Everyone has great fun hearing stories, doing  quizzes, singing songs and watching Kingo and his  puppet friends teaching important lessons about how to  please God.

Children in Egypt speak Arabic.  Here is some Arabic writing. It is very different from our writing!

If I write this in English, it is our verse to remember!  You might have heard it before:

God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever be‐lieves in him may not be lost, but have      eternal life.  John 3:16  (New Century                  Version)

 Honeycomb Hunt

Once you have read the story on the

front ‘The Lion and the Bees’, you will see that there are some words in a different colour.  Now see if you can find the coloured words in the honeycomb.

I hope my puzzles aren’t too tricky! You can find answers

Samson meets the lion! There are 15 little differences in these two pictures. Can you spot them all? If you get stuck the answers are on the back.

Can you help the bees get through the beehive?

Page 4: BKC Edition 11

Here’s a picture that needs a little colour! As you can see, I wasn’t too happy when I went to see Ben and found him looking after bees!! Agh!! I ran off pretty quickly! By the way – don’t count all the little bees in this picture for ‘How Many?’

Puzzle answers

HOW MANY BEES? There are 35 bees buzzing about!
