STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK

The first son in today’s Gospel said he would do his father’s bidding, but did not.

The second son balked at first, but then repented and did as he was asked.

What service is God calling me to do? Which son am I more like?

WORD OF LIFE

“Walk with each other. Do not be afraid to

embrace God’s gift of life. Whatever storms or

trials we face, we are not alone. He is with us.

‘Behold, I am with you always, until the end of

the age’ (Matthew 28:20).”

ELDER CARE

Thank you to Felicia for coming to

Elder Care and sharing her time and talents

with our clients.

It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for being

a faithful Steward!

NEW PARISHIONERS :

Rafael Pastor

St. Paul offers a formula for living the way we are supposed to live as Christians in the Second Reading. Paul writes, “Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves.” Doing that is a challenge for most all of us. Yet, that is one of the secrets to being a good steward and living as Christ wants us to live.

To truly live that way requires a dramatic conversion. All of us know people who are so self-centered that they often are not even aware that they are totally unwilling to compromise or to even recognize the value of those around them. Achieving this kind of self awareness, of what kind of a person we are, is a significant step on our faith and life journeys.

Screenwriter and playwright William Nicholson once wrote, “God does not nec-essarily want us to be happy. He wants us to be lovable, worthy of love, able to be loved by Him. What makes people hard to love? It is called selfishness. Selfish people are hard to love, because so little love comes out of them.”

That is our challenge, to love others in such a way that we become lovable as well. Christ told us over and over that the secret to being His disciple and the secret to being a good steward is to “Love your neighbor.” That is how to be the kind of person Paul calls us to be as well. BLESSING OF ANIMALS—OCTOBER 4

On Wednesday, October 4th, Feast of St. Francis of

Assisi, we will bless animals, etc. at 5:00pm at the

outdoor Shrine to Our Lady in front of the church.

All animals, fish, birds, etc. are welcome. All of

these, God’s creatures, must be under your control.

SISTER DIOCESE COLLECTION This weekend a representative from the Mission

Office of the Diocese of Orlando will be visiting

Blessed Trinity to ask for support as we continue to

serve our brothers and sisters in our Sister Diocese of

San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic. The

speaker will be Leilany Pinales, a student at

Trinity Catholic High School.

THANKS FR. BEAU

We had 69 of our parish ministry leaders, board

members and parish staff at our half day of retreat on

Saturday, September 23rd. Fr. Beau gave us very

uplifting spiritual food for prayer and reflection.

Each year it is one of the major spiritual gatherings of

our parish. We thank all of you who participated.

Saturdays are usually crowded with many good

worthwhile events. It is not that easy to “give up”

Saturday. I know it was worth your big effort. This

annual event helps us in a big way to keep our parish

focused and united as we work on so many aspects

of our parish mission that we are responsible for

under Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit.

So...thank you and thank you Fr. Beau.

THANK YOU

McPherson Hall was crowded on Monday,

September 25th at 5:30pm for the

Planning & Zoning meeting regarding our “Housing

First” plan to rescue the chronic homeless. Your

presence made a huge difference. You caused the

“Planning & Zoning” Board to rethink their

understanding of our mission to save the homeless

and give them a sense of dignity and self-worth and

a “home” to live in. Thank you for taking the time.

The next meeting, which will be before the County

Commissions, is on Tuesday, October 17th at

2:00pm at McPherson Hall again. Please come and

spread the word.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

MEETINGS 2nd Wednesday of the month, 7:30pm, K of C Hall

Next meeting is Wednesday, October 11th.

Featured Book of the week: “Who am I to Judge?” “"Don't be so judgmental!" "Why are Christians so intolerant?" "Why can't we just coexist?" In an age in which preference has replaced morality, many people find it difficult to speak the truth, afraid of the reactions they will receive if they say something is right or wrong. Using engaging stories and personal experience, Edward Sri helps us understand the classical view of morality and equips us to engage relativism, appealing to both the head and the heart. Learn how Catholic morality is all about love, why making a judgment is not judging a person's soul, and why, in the words of Pope Francis, "relativism wounds people." Topics include: Real Freedom, Real Love, Sharing truth with compassion Why "I disagree" doesn't mean "I hate you"” Thank you to ALL our customers we appreciate YOU!! New Crystal Expressions by Ganz have arrived!! They are perfect for Birthdays, a Thank you, Get Well or Just Because gifts. natural death. Empower us to work for justice for the poor.

Nourish us that we may bring food to the hungry. Inspire us to cherish the fragile life of the unborn.

Greetings in the Lord brothers and sisters, I hope and pray you all are doing well! My name is Ricardo Salgado (Ricky) and I’m 23 years old originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I reside in Kissimmee Florida and my home parish is St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Currently I’m a seminarian for the Diocese of Orlando studying to be a Catholic Priest. I first heard the Lord call me to the Priesthood when I was about 7 years old, but it wasn’t until I was 16 years old when I responded with a full hearted YES to the Lord’s calling. It was on April 12, 2004, the day of my baptism when I first heard the Lord’s call during the Easter Vigil. When the waters of Baptism were poured over me and I was totally reborn in Christ, it was at that moment I felt in my soul that I was meant for Him. And when the Easter Vigil of April 3, 2010 took place I was 16 years old when I heard Christ in my heart ask me, “ will you come and follow me and be one of my priests?” And from that moment forward my life has never been the same!

As a seminarian I am required to engage in 9 years of formation between two seminaries St. John Vianney College Seminary and St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary. The Bishop of Orlando John G. Noonan, has placed me for a full academic year at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church to participate and increase my knowledge and experience of the parish life. My mission here for this year is to learn how to thirst more for Jesus and share how to quench that thirst with others. I’m looking forward to spending this time here with all of you and I hope and pray our paths meet and when they do, please feel free to stop me and say hello! Please pray for me and be assured of my prayers for all of you as well. In His Name: Ricky Salgado, Seminarian of the Diocese of Orlando.

CHILD WELFARE PROVIDER INCLUSION

ACT

The Child Welfare Provider Inclusion Act

(CWPIA) protects the religious liberties of child

welfare service providers, including adoption and

foster care agencies. The Act would prohibit the

federal government and any state that receives

certain federal funding from discriminating against

child welfare service providers on the basis that

they decline to provide a child welfare service

that conflicts with their sincerely held religious

beliefs or moral convictions. Contact your

ANOTHER DEATH SENTENCE TO BE

CARRIED OUT

Governor Scott has ordered the execution

of Michael Lambrix for Thursday, October 5th at

6pm ET. Mike Lambrix was sentenced to death

33 years ago for the killing of Clarence Moore

and Aleisha Bryant. The U.S. Supreme

Court has ruled that Florida’s non-unanimous

death sentencing scheme is unconstitutional. The

jury vote for death for Lambrix was not

unanimous: 8-4 for Moore and 10-2 for Bryant.

This would be the 25th execution ordered by

Gov. Scott, a new record for a Florida governor.
