MISSION STATEMENT: Blessed Trinity Catholic Church Stewardship Community recognizes Jesus is Lord. We believe that
our Time, Talent and Treasure are gifts from God to be used for the spiritual, educational and social needs of
our community, the Diocese and the world at large, especially the poor.
STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
St. James warns in today’s second reading that those who hoard their wealth and live
only for themselves will be condemned. But in the Gospel, Jesus assures us that all
who give of themselves for His sake will be rewarded.
WORD OF LIFE
“The dying process is a sacred time—a final
season to seek closure in this life and prepare for
the next in the hope of sharing in Christ's
Resurrection. As you enter into this season with
your friend or family member, ask God to
accompany both of you.”

Our Gospel passage and the Second Reading from the letter of St. James urge us to exam-ine our lives for anything that is keeping us from loving God above all else.
Jesus says, “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off… If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out.”
St. James warns, “Come now, you rich, weep and wail over your impending miseries. Your wealth has rotted away, your clothes have become moth-eaten, your gold and silver have corroded, and that corrosion will be a testimony against you.”
The urgency of our need to detach from all that is not God is clear. When we hold onto pos-sessions too tightly, they come to possess us. The “stuff” can easily become the focus of our energy and attention. Attachment to material things slowly and steadily corrupts.
The spiritual discipline of tithing — or stewardship of treasure — can help us with this. Tithing leads us to let go of unhealthy attachment to material things and leads us to attach instead to God, relying on Him as our true source of security and happiness. We come to understand that all that we have is a gift from our loving Father and we use it to bless others and glorify Him.
Amazingly, we actually enjoy material gifts, and all other gifts, more as a result because we realize where they really came from and are using them as God intended. What wonderful freedom there is in living this way! Copyright © 2018 — Catholic Stewardship Consultants, Inc.

SEPTEMBER 22, 2018 DAY OF REFLECTION We are most thankful to God for sending us Fr. Zachary, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Benque, Belize for our annual Day of Reflection for all Parish Leaders, Boards and Parish Staff. Each year we are really blessed with the spiritual director we get from Benque, Belize. This year was no exception. Fr. Zachary was really really powerful. We had well over 100 show up for the morning of reflection. All were inspired. All found it most encouraging for their spiritual journey. The morning of reflection was a big blessing over all to our parish. It got us focused on what God wants us to be focused on and really helped us not to waste our time and energy on what is not of God. Thanks to all of you who came. Thank God. Mark your calendars for next years morning of reflection—September 28, 2019. It is our hope to get Fr. Zachary back sometime for a parish four day mission. If we do, give it your top priority on your calendars. You will never regret it.
OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL, BENQUE Fr. Zachary and the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Benque, Belize wish to thank you for all your donations last weekend. So far we have received $7,020.37. If you still wish to add your donation we will wait one more week and then send the total onto Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Are you attending Mass regularly at Blessed Trinity? Then why not become a registered parishioner! Pick up a parish registration form in the Stewardship Room just inside the church entrance

Adult Book of the week: “Feeding your Family’s Soul”
“Dinner Table Spirituality is a vital tool to enable parents to transform a regular dinner time into a prayer-ful faith lesson for their elementary school to high school aged children. It will indeed help to fulfill the Catholic Church's vision for evangelization in the family and beyond. Through 52 fun and creative faith lessons (one for each week of the year), this one-of-a-kind book will encourage parents and caregivers to seize the opportunity in teaching the Catholic faith to the children (the captive audience waiting to eat!) while gathered at the dinner table, and while reminding them of the value of coming together as a family to break bread and share hearts”. We have the “Word Among Us, the Give Us this Day and the Magnificat” for October now available!! If you haven’t come into the Gift shop lately, you’re missing our gorgeous autumn display of pumpkin mini loaf ceramic pans & many other items. Plus, amazing kitchen and home decor items with a religious touch perfect for your home or a gift for that amazing person you want to show Thanksgiving to!

JESUS and MARY invite You to a
Night of Prayers and Sacrifice
As many families today are in crisis because of prevalence of what the Holy Father calls as the “culture of death”, the Com-
munion of Reparation is a chance whereby this brokenness can be HEALED through the heroics of a “FEW” throughout the world
who makes the sacrifice of praying all night.
Come console the Hearts of JESUS and MARY, and help them bring PEACE in families...and in the world

Please return your filled baby bottle today. Because of your donations, the ministry of Alpha Center will help save unborn babies by offering life-affirming pregnancy options and providing emotional, spiritual and material support to moms and dads in need. The devastation of hurricane Maria brought 5 displaced new moms to us that we have been able to assist. Even in the midst of their great loss, it has been tremendously inspiring to see their recovery in an unfamiliar surrounding.
Alpha Center will persevere in serving those in need or those making a decision about their pregnancy as long as our Lord makes provision for us. We pray you will continue to support Alpha Center for Women. If you forgot your bottle, our collection will continue through next weekend. Keep filling those bottles! God bless you for your generous help!
