Programs Barb Eikmeier learned to sew in 4-H and made her first quilt while in high school but didn't start quilting seriously until after

her marriage in 1984. She has been quilting since 1990 and her favorite technique is applique'. Married to a military man,

quilting became Barb’s portable career as they moved around the country and to South Korea for military assignments.

Barb is the mother of two, grandmother of one, and author of four quilting books. She designs fabric for Paintbrush Studio

Fabrics, a pattern designer, a Craftsy instructor, and she presents programs and workshops to guilds around the country.

Barb, her husband and two dogs live in Lansing, Kansas where in addition to quilting she enjoys flower gardening, baking pies,

writing, and sailing on their vintage sailboat at nearby Perry Lake.

Sit & Stitch

Sit & Stitch meets most every 2nd & 4th Thursdays

of each month at Rose Estates, 127th & Antioch. Each Thursday there is either a workshop led by a

BVQG member or a time for members to come and sew on their own projects. Arrival time is 9:30

with workshops starting at 10 AM. Participants bring their lunch. BVQG members are always welcome to come even if they are not signed

up for a workshop. Sit & Stitch is a good way to get acquainted with other members. If you have questions concerning Sit & Stitch please contact Wilma Lamfers,

[email protected]

If you ever have questions concerning Sit & Stitch please email or call me,

Wilma Lamfers, [email protected] or 913-341-3250.

This past month Pam Gardner led a Sit & Stitch group of par-ticipants on the why's and how's to make a prayer flag. Many left with new ideas of how they are going to use the many hints presented.

October 10

Sergers were a Sit & Stitch topic led by Leta Richards and her helper, Marie. From not being able to turn on a machine to those who were well versed but came to pick up new hints, the group all expressed in an interest in making a quilt with a serger. We'll be planning a second workshop sometime in the next year.

Almost time for the Two-Color Quilt Challenge!

For all of you stitching away, or thinking of stitching, on your

2019 BVQG Challenge – Two Color Quilts,

it’s almost time for the big reveal during the December Holiday Party!

To review:

• 2 colors only, shades of the same color are fine.

• Minimum size: 24” x 24”

• Has to be a quilt, not a bag.

• Backing fabric can be anything, does not have to be 2 color or one of the colors on the top.

• No hanging sleeve required.

• Please put a small label with your name (can be safety pinned) on the back, then pin another piece of fabric

over that label to keep your identity under wraps. Or, put on a label and when you turn it in, we will pin

a piece of fabric over the top.

We will be collecting the quilts in the foyer of the sanctuary. Go through our regular meeting

room, towards the sanctuary, and we will have tables set up. We will arrange the quilts on the

pews, and then during the meeting everyone will go in and view all the quilts, then vote on

their top 3 choices. Later in the meeting the top three quilts will be announced, and the

winners will receive PRIZES!

Good luck everyone and enjoy your stitching!
