ENERGY VISIONKeep a close eye on your installation’s behaviour and optimise energy management

A Building Management System’s installation must be:

• open: federate every multi-brand, multi-energy and multi-protocol systems

• upgradeable: designed to adapt to any future development of the building• user-friendly: summarises and organises information to aid the decision-making process

Delta Dore created Energy Vision to meet these requirements: an industrial monitoring platform which can be adapted to all building configurations (isolated site, large commercial buildings, industrial site, management of multiple sites, etc.).

The site monitoring system is a computer from which the user controls his BMS installation. It shows the status of the system in real time. This smart energy management and control system orders and stores information to facilitate the analysis of interactions between equipment.

Energy Vision is

• View: Interfaces are intuitive and user friendly, letting the user operate the BMS without the need for technical or detailed knowledge of the system.

• Exploit: The ordering of information facilitates the analysis and understanding of interactions between equipment.

• Alert: The system continuously monitors the supervised equipment and immediately processes information and alarms for those on stand-by.

• Capitalise: All information produced by the system is chronologically stored for an optimal analysis.

• Control: More than a simple site monitoring system, Energy Vision is a smart energy management system that provides comprehensive information on the behaviour of the installation and lets the user manage all aspects of the technical equipment.

Energy Vision offers the choice of a 100% Web-based system

Thanks to Energy Vision Web, it is now possible to develop Web Design and animated graphs which let the user interact with the interface. This 100% Web solution facilitates the integration of BMS systems into computers equipment governed by stringent and secured charters.

Our site monitoring system, Energy Vision Web, lets the user put all BMS equipment on the Web. The main advantage of this offer is that it allows the status of the system to be monitored by accessing all operating information through a simple Internet browser. The graphs are generated with Flash technology, which is available on all Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc.).

The Internet also lowers maintenance costs as the graphs are only stored on the Windows server.

ViewAccess key data at a glance

The operating interface

To make the software as easy as possible to use, interactive graphs are used to present the data. Access to all of the site's characteristics is simple thanks to overview diagrams specially designed to be intuitive.

An overview diagram is a graphic image that lets the user view informations linked to the Building Management System at a glance.

The building is schematized by a general plan for each floor. The user only has to click on the area that he wishes to observe to view its equipment, which take the form of animated objects, and see the equipment's operating status in real time.

• The user can skim through the different pages using the browser on the left of the screen and through linking areas integrated into all of the graphs.

• A banner, at the bottom of the screen, permanently displays any current alarms.

• A toolbar, in the top banner, lets the user access Energy Vision's different applications.

All settings are accessible through the overview diagrams.

When the user clicks on an equipment, a window opens above the overview diagram of the area in question and displays all of the parameters of the equipment concerned.

In the interest of consistency, the same user-friendly approach will be used regardless of the actuator that is being controlled.

For example, in one click, the Curve tab shows stored data for the equipment in a graph (temperature, commands, settings, etc.) and thereby allows information to be traced.

ExploitStructure information to facilitate analysis

Data exploitation is realized directly on overview diagrams. The site's equipment is represented through functional blocks. They constitute a central base of the monitoring system.

Energy Vision allows to• get a global view of the site (in the form of tables) and/or a detailed view of the site (in the form of equipment) depending on the

display mode chosen,• organise the equipment on the site into a topological tree.

Integrated into an Internet browser, Energy Vision operates in client/server mode for multi-client.As the data can be displayed in many different ways, the application can be used by both operators and installers. The several different setting options offered by Energy Vision allow the site to be configured and operated as closely as possible to the user's needs.

To access the settings of functional equipment, the user only has to click on the line of the table for the item in question. A window containing all of the relevant data opens. Data is grouped by subject (operation, setting, filing, monitoring of changes, monitoring of technical faults) under different tabs.

Set schedule

Energy Vision lets the user set the operating periods of all of the equipment based on an annual calendar. The system is also able to manage exceptional periods (bank holidays, holiday, etc.). The advantage of this function is that it allows the user to centralise the management of the operating periods of all of the sites and all of the equipment concerned.

Day periods are shown in tables and barographs. There are 'copy', 'insert period' and 'special paste' functions to simplify the management of the site and save time.

For each piece of equipment, the barograph indicates the operating status based on the time period for the day in the calendar selected. The calendar shows the previous month, the current month and the next ten months.

In order to optimise consumption to save more energy, exceptional periods may be set (bank holidays, holiday, one-off trading days, etc.). Each of these periods can be renewable to the following year.

Produce alarms

All of the information managed by Energy Vision can be used in the form of alarms (contact, threshold setting, status of communication between equipment, discordance, etc.).

To avoid being overloaded with information, a priority and area-based system processes the alarms effectively.Alarms are sent to all monitoring stations. Several priority levels can be applied to the alarms.

Monitor alarms in real time

Alarms are displayed:

• as text

• as animations in the overview diagrams

• in the alarm banner in real time

This banner lets the user display all of the site's alarms including, for each alarm: name, value, date and time of appearance and disappearance, and status.

Display colours may be configured. Colours vary according to the urgency of the alarm.

It’s possible to process alarms individually or as a group.

Store the alarms

All of the alarms are stored in a centralised database.

Multi-energy metering

Energy Vision meters all forms of energy (water, gas, electricity, oil).

All types of meter are managed whether indexed, cumulative, temporal or front while taking into account tariff periods, pulse waves, etc.

Access to all of this information in real time allows you to act immediately in order to optimise energy use.

View metering data

Metering data is stored in chronological order for periods lasting two seconds to 30 minutes. This data is then collected to display total energy consumption for a day, month, year, etc.

Energy Vision lets the user display, process and analyse this data over configurable time periods. The meters (hour, day, month, etc.) can be viewed in the form of a table or a graph (barograph, histogram, Energy Performance Certificate, targets, etc.).

The data in the table can be exported as a CSV file. Energy Vision macros let the user manage this data in Microsoft Excel.

Manage electrical energy

Managing electrical energy involves protecting, monitoring and controlling the entire electrical network at all times. But it also means optimising energy use as well as possible without affecting business or comfort.

Having a real-time overview of your electrical installations, current supply and transport contracts lets you optimise the management of energy sources.

• Checking the installation's power demands in relation to a supply contract

• Optimisation of recovery operations and power outages to limit energy use

• Configuration of different load-shedding methods on a single interface

• Monitoring of all site's equipment to ensure all loads are managed optimally while complying with user requirements

• Management of multiple electricity tariffs

• Integration of transporter and supplier contract parameters

• Viewing of historical energy consumption data and related contracts

• Traceability, advanced analysis of optimisation measures

• Access to data prior to the implementation of the BMS to analyse the system's performance

Store data

All of the information emitted by the system are stored. The frequency of data backups can be configured (from every second to every hour).

Exploit historical data

Energy Vision lets the user process and analyse stored data. Data can be shown in curves, barographs, sectors or tables in different parts of the screen.

Messages announcing an event (start and end of an alarm, for example) can be displayed as flags on a curve.

A toolbar lets the user easily:

• access the configuration of graphs• access to print functions• display data in tables• display the grid or key• select the type of graph desired• select the viewing period

CapitaliseTrace and analyse data

Configuration of the frequency of data backups

A single click lets the user move from one graph to another or from one period to another.

Several tools allow the graphs to be quickly analysed:zoom, crosshairs, script, etc.

Trace actions

Energy Vision lets the user quickly see all of the alarms and events stored in chronological order by the monitoring system.

All actions managed by Energy Vision applications are traced: modification of a setting, forcing of manual equipment, user login, etc.

Analyse operating data

Energy Vision is compatible with all SQL systems, such as Microsoft Excel. All of the BMS' stored data is therefore available in a Microsoft Excel table.

Such compatibility facilitates access to the information needed to analyse the energy performance of the Building Management System.

Data can be transferred very easily to those concerned: technical departments, research and development, quality, etc.

User profile

Energy Vision's security system is synchronised with the Windows security system. Once activated, it authenticates the user and grants him predefined access rights.Data can then be filtered in accordance with the user's profile, which has been allocated certain browsing, data type and action rights.

To stop free access to the system when the user leaves his work station, the user can be disconnected automatically. The time-out setting is configurable.

Security can be centralised either on a network architecture work station or locally on each work station.

ValueCommunicate the site's energy performance

Display screens

Display screens, positioned in strategic locations around the site, relay data supplied by the BMS and provide real-time information on the site's energy performance. Users can view not only the building's status and energy use in real time but also its energy performance level (A, B, C, D, E) and CO2 emissions. The screen is customisable and encourages users to adopt environmentally-friendly habits.

In order to make the figures more understandable to new users, the interface lets the user compare his energy use with equivalent daily amounts used by French households, for example.
