My dear loving Friends,

I have been reflecting on my last five years here with you in this beauti-ful Parish Community dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, my thoughts went around those generous, loving, kind hearted people of this community. From day one I have enjoyed being with you as your Pastor and have always seen the burning love of Jesus in all of you.

First of all I thank God for this opportunity to be with you and to each and every one of you who took time to stop and smile at me, who spent their time, energy and gifts to make a difference in our communi-ty. 1Thessalonians 5:18(NIV) “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Thanks for your loving support, kind words and inspiring involvement in different ministries and activities of this community. Thanks to all the Staff and volunteers who work hard to make things happen every day. Please continue your prayers for me as I am returning to India for my new mission.

All the best and many blessings! Fr. Joji

Women’s Reflection Day “If I could only touch his cloak….”

Spend a day in the quiet pondering a woman in scripture and hear what her story offers to our spiritual journey today. Sat-urday 28 September 9am – 4.30pm, Holy Cross Church, An-zac Avenue, Kippa-Ring. $50 (MT, Lunch and AT provided) Payment can be made on the day or via Direct Deposit (contact Grace for Details) RSVP by Wednesday 25 September for catering and resourcing purposes to [email protected] or 0409 524 283 N.B. - As there are five Sundays in the month of September Group 3 will be on roster next weekend. “No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).” (Luke 16:13) Is money a “god” that you put before God? Giving money to support the Church and other charity is a pillar of our faith, just like attending Mass every Sunday and participating in par-ish ministry. Giving money frees us from being a slave to money. It increases our dependence on God and our trust that God will provide all that we need.

MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY MASS - Are you cele-brating your 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th etc. Anniversary of Marriage this year. We would like to invite you and your fami-ly to the 9am mass on Sunday 13th October to join with the parish in celebrating your special occasion. Please phone the Parish Office on 3282 188 if you would like to be part of this celebration. Parishioners are asked to bring a plate of food to share. LISTENING AND DISCERNMENT SESSION - Over the next 4 - 8 weeks our deanery will be hosting a number of Listening and Discernment sessions in relation to the Plenary Council themes. Parishioners are invited to participate. The first ses-sion is this Tuesday 24th September, at 4pm in All Saints’ Par-ish Hall Boonah. The session will be led by Lorraine Wynne from Evangelisation Brisbane. The theme is: Open to Conver-sion Renewal and Reform. ST PATRICK'S LAIDLEY - Centenary Recipe Book of Family Fa-vourites. Over 200 recipes and tips. Launches 27th October. Contact Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Parish on 07 54653 131 or [email protected] THE PARABLES PODCAST - Why are the parables of Jesus so important and why do they still resonate today? The Parables Podcast is a new fortnightly series featuring Archbishop Mark Coleridge’s insights and reflections on the parables of Jesus. In the first episode, he gives an overview of the parables, what they were and how they were used. You can listen to these podcast by subscribing to our channel “Archdiocese of Brisbane” on your preferred podcast app, or by downloading from the link : https://brisbanecatholic.org.au/ articles/ep-1-introduction-to-the-parables/ and https://brisbanecatholic.org.au/articles/the-parables-podcasts-ep-7-the-greatbanquet/ Over the past few months the five top parables, as voted for by parishioners on social media, have been covered by the Archbishop. This is the final episode. A VOCATION VIEW: Do you think it is the Lord who is moti-vating you to make lots of money, to use people, to grab for power, to attend to the needs of others?

ENTRANCE HYMN

Praise to the Lord Praise to the Lord,

The Almighty, the king of creation!

O my soul, praise him,

For he is your health and salvation!

Come, all who hear:

Now to his altar draw near

Joining in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord!

O let all that is in me adore him!

All that has life and breath

Come now with praises before him!

Let the “Amen!”

Sound from his people again

Now as we worship before him.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: [Sung]

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

© M. Haugen – GIA Publications APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

OFFERTORY The Summons

Will you come and follow me If I but call your name? Will you go where you don’t know And never be the same? Will you let my love be shown, Will you let my name be known, Will you let my life be grown In you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind If I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind And never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare Should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer pray’r In you and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see If I but call your name? Will you set the pris’ners free And never be the same? Will you kiss the leper clean And do such as this unseen, And admit to what I mean In you and you in me?

Will you love the ‘you’ you hide If I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside And never be the same? Will you use the faith you’ve found To reshape the world around, Through my sight and touch and sound In you and you in me?

[Instrumental verse]

Lord, your summons echoes true When you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you And never be the same. In your company I’ll go Where your love and footsteps show. Thus I’ll move and live and grow In you and you in me.

COMMUNION Where Love is Found

Where charity and love are found,

there will the face of God be seen.

The love of Christ will bind our hearts;

as one body we will be.

Love is patient, love is kind,

Never boastful, never proud.

Love is hopeful in its waiting,

Ever trusting in God’s light.

Love is steadfast to the end,

Ever ready to endure.

Love is gracious in its kindness,

Ever ready to forgive.

Though I speak with angel’s tongue,

I am nothing more than sound.

I am but a cymbal clanging

If I sing without God’s love.

There are three things that will last:

There is faith, hope and love.

But the greatest of all blessings

Is the faithfulness of love.

RECESSIONAL

We Walk By Faith

We walk by faith, and not by sight:

No gracious words we hear

Of him who spoke as none e’er spoke,

But we believe him near.

Help then, O Lord, our unbelief,

And may our faith abound;

To call on you when you are near,

And seek where you are found:

We walk by faith, and not by sight:

No gracious words we hear

Of him who spoke as none e’er spoke,

But we believe him near.
