We Filipinos enjoy a bread

called pan de sal.

We wake up to pan de sal in

the morning. Our kids bring

pan de sal to school.

Friends bond and share light

discussions over pan de sal.

These are garlic bread

sticks.

As a kid, my family used to

take me to an Italian

restaurant. It was hard for a

hungry child to wait for his

spaghetti to arrive, but the

bread sticks made the wait

seem tolerable.

Flying saucer sandwiches

are regular sandwiches, only

round, and pressed to look

like flying saucers.

They tasted the same as

regular sandwiches, but as a

kid, I always choose the

ones that made me

imagine myself as a giant,

UFO-eating alien.
