Don Shire will share song and storyDon Shire will help lead us in a joint worship service on Sunday November 24 at

10:30 a.m. during which he will share his musical gifts with the trumpet and stories from his mission work. After worship plan to stay for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

Please bring a dessert to share with the congregation.

Kid’s Club and Children’s Church (Sunday school)

classes are back in session helping our kids learn

about God’s love and His word for our lives!

In October we gave out free smoke detector batteries for fire awareness month to help people stay safe. Thanks to

all who worked shifts to show that Christ Church cares.

Some of the kids helped us open worship on October 20 by leading us in a song of praise

that reminded us we have many blessings to be thankful for and

many reasons to give God praise!

From the Pastor’s Desk

In last month’s sermon series, we looked at our relationship with God and how it impacts the use of our resources. We talked about how following God’s directives leads to having significance and financial freedom. We saw that work, not going into bad debt, is God’s main means of provision and brings much meaning into our lives. We were reminded that God provides by giving us abilities and energy to deploy in order to earn and gain the

resources we need to live life and be a blessing. We looked at biblical directives regarding God's financial principles and recalled John Wesley’s instructions to earn all you can, save all you can, and give all you can. If you missed a Sunday the messages are on our website.

As I think back on this year the people of Christ Church who give in so many ways are an inspiration to me. Your faith, expressed through the giving of time, talents, and finances, has fed the hungry in our community and the starving around the world. It has put hats and mittens on cold kids. It has provided shelter on winter nights to the homeless, helped educate children through school partnerships, nurtured faith in all ages and encouraged family bonding. It has sent teens on mission trips to serve families in need and kept people in our community safe with working smoke detectors. It has helped people recover after natural disasters, enabled missionaries to help better people’s lives in third world countries, and the list goes on. It amazes me to think what we can do to improve lives and save lives physically and spiritually when we release our resources into God’s hands for God’s work. Please help us prepare for ministry in 2020 by looking over the stewardship mailing you received (or pick up the materials at the Connection Table) and return your commitment card by November 24.

November also calls us to reflect on our gratitude with the Thanksgiving holiday. A time to get the family together and join in thanksgiving to God for all the blessings of the past year and for the best blessing of all, Jesus Christ our Savior! As we approach this holiday season, let us seek to remember the things that we have to be thankful for, and that most of all we are blessed by God’s love for us. God has given many blessings and it is right to praise Him and to come with thanksgiving. I hope that we remember our blessings not just once a year, but every day and I hope that we respond to God’s love with thanksgiving not just once a year, but every day as well; thankfulness should be a natural state of being for those who have encountered the love of God. May we live every day with an attitude of gratitude and be a blessing to others so they have reason to be thankful as well. Have a great Thanksgiving.

God Bless, Pastor George J. Kafer

P.S. On December 9 at 6:00 p.m. is our Charge Conference where we celebrate this past year’s ministry, approve leaders for ministry teams and committees, and approve a budget to continue our mission in 2020.

P.P.S. Thank you to all those who gave cards, and shared words of appreciation in October for “Pastor Appreciation month,” Cassie and I feel very blessed to be serving in this place.

Christ Church Men’s Bible StudyWednesdays at 6:00 pm in the

Conference RoomBring your Bible. Contact Brian Crowe for

the current chapter being studied. Then read in advance of coming to class. Bring a

friend with you. Let’s GROW!

The Evening Dinner Circle meets on Nov. 4th at 6:00 p.m. in Room 16 for dinner

and a mission program.

The Marge Circle meets on Nov. 14 at 1:00 p.m. in Room 16.

A Sound Money Management PlanGod desires that we live balanced lives. God knows that money can cause us problems both

the lack of it and letting it rule our heart. The 10-10-80 money management principle helps us keep things in check and honor God. Tithe 10% of our income to God through the Church, save at least 10% of our income for future needs, and then live off the remaining 80%. Doing this grows our relationship with God, helps enable the ministry of God’s Church, and helps us have financial freedom.

The idea is to give to God and live within your means, don’t borrow money for something that is not a need, instead, save up for it. Don’t fall into the trap that says more stuff equals more happiness and don’t think that what you have is just yours and ignore God’s financial directions. All that we have is a gift from God and earned by the talents and skills God has given us. Money can be an idol in many people’s heart, which is why it’s important to follow the Biblical model of tithing; it is an expression of gratitude and a tangible way to put God first and help carry out His will.

Those who have learned to trust God in tithing have found that God is faithful to provide. For your own spiritual growth and the growth of our church, I pray that that you will join Cassandra and me along with others at Christ Church in following a money management plan that allows us to be good stewards and God honoring with our income. Please turn in your 2020 pledge cards by Nov. 24. Thanks & God Bless, Pastor George

Apportionment GivingChrist Church has a history of 100% apportionment giving, allowing us to help transform lives by God’s love. Apportionments provide for ministries that directly help over 50,000 people in Wisconsin and many more beyond. In 2019 our apportionment is $43,728, if we each give faithfully to the general fund and if able a special gift for apportionments, $254 a year per member, we can continue to support connectional ministries and free up more of our general funds to increase outreach and ministry in our local area.

Stewardship Makes a Difference!Thank you for all the ways you support ministry. This newsletter has examples of how our church is making a difference in people’s lives through your giving! It is good to see people trusting in God and answering His call to give. People are offering themselves to serve and their financial giving (several tithing 10% of income, or working toward tithing)! Check the connection table for Electronic Fund Transfer forms and ways to give of your time and talent as well.
