Summer Blessings!

Dear Friends in Christ Jesus, I don’t know about you, but I just love this time of the year. The warm-er weather provides all kinds of op-portunities to enjoy God’s beautiful creation and to enjoy the beauty of our relationships with each other. But, if your household is anything like our household, the summer sea-son also brings with it packed sched-ules! You might think the opposite, but between trips, picnics, baseball outings, and whatever else we can fit in– we’ve got a lot going on! And weekends, well, weekends can quick-ly become consumed with event and activity after event and activity! Of course, with the pull of our sched-ules and the opportunities that sum-

mer brings, it’s easy to put participation in the life of St. John’s on the side burner. Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s certainly important to take time to enjoy the sea-son, but it is HUGELY important for us to continue regular participation through worship and fellowship here at St. John’s. It’s just the continued retreat and refreshment we need! And as we are intentional about carving out that sa-cred time we are drawn closer to our Jesus- growing together in the Son! May the Spirit continue to empower us to be together this summer; may nothing get in the way of the growth God brings to us each week through his Word, His Sacrament and our fellowship! Look forward to seeing you in church!

Mission & Ministry

Each month we highlight a specific mission and ministry of St. John’s.

.

The Erie County Home Ministry began over 30 years ago. It involved bringing the Word of God and fellowship to the many, many residents we have had the privilege of knowing at the home over the years, and it has been a joyful and uplifting experience for all. Members of this group gather every Thursday morning in the parking lot here at church at 9:15am to drive downtown together and gather with the residents in faith and fellowship. Pastor Galen leads the devotional on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

The Deacon Ministry brings the sacrament and fellowship to homebound members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Giving the sacrament is a wonderful blessing that draws us closer together as children of God. It is also a time of friendship, sharing of life stories and with that, a time of smiles and laughter.
