The Annual Meeting of the Congregation

will be held on Sunday, November 13th fol-lowing the 10:30 A.M. worship service. At

this meeting we will revisit the parsonage options, pertaining to the second vote at the October 2nd special meeting. Since none of the four options that were voted on at that meeting received a majority of the votes, we will need to have a re-vote (please refer to the council minutes on pages 8 & 9). Plan to attend!

Evangelism Events.....

A fun time was had at Sherman’s Pumpkin Farm on Oct. 16th. About 50-60 people attended and enjoyed food, fellowship, & music.

The “Touch of Christmas Love” tree will be up with gift requests on it for you to select by Thanksgiving weekend. This project is in cooperation with the “Parents as Teachers” program at RMC.

Youth from First Lutheran will be making s’mores at the Cham-ber Window Walk on Thursday, December 1st from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Check upcoming weekend announcements for updates.

All Saints Service

A special All Saints “Service of Light & Remembrance” will be held on Sunday evening, November 6th at 6:30 P.M. At this service we will remember all those friends and loved ones from our congregation, and others, who have gone to be with the Lord.

If you have lost someone special and would like to spend time re-membering them, plan to join us for this special service. If you, yourself, have not recently experienced a loss of someone close to you, you are still encouraged to attend the service and extend the love of Christ to someone who may be struggling with this loss. Let the light and love of Christ be seen in you.

Reminder to all members of the congregation:

When you come to worship services each weekend, be sure to check the lay ministry charts at the back of the sanctuary to see if

there are any empty serving spots for the cur-rent or following weekend. Our team leaders

do a fantastic job each month contacting peo-ple on their teams to try to fill these spots, but sometimes despite their best efforts there are still openings. As always, your willingness to

assist is greatly appreciated!

THANK YOU We are truly grateful for your gift of $3000 to our “Seeds of Hope” growing project, which will be added to our contribution to the Foods Resource Bank after harvest season this fall. The FRB is a truly remarkable ecumenical organization.

Your contribution will go to a project in the country of Columbia where the farmers, assisted by FRB, are be-ginning to grow the cacao plant used to produce chocolate. We are also assisting with projects in Tan-zania and Armenia.

Again, thank you for your contribu-tion and for partnering with us in the “Seeds of Hope” growing project.

Remember to Use Scrip this Christmas!

Wow! Christmas is just around the corner and you may already be making your lists.

Just remember, Scrip is 1) convenient; 2) always the right color & size; 3) a way to prevent having your credit card hacked; 4) so many purchasing choices in one convenient location; 5) easy to wrap (we even sell card holders!) 6) a way to support programs at First Lutheran – all profits go back to the church, and most are used to support the youth programs.

If you are new to First Lutheran and haven’t purchased Scrip yet, Christmas is a great time to start. We have dozens of gift cards on hand each week and hundreds more that can be ordered from a national warehouse. To see what is on hand each week, check out the Scrip list published in this Lamplighter; to see what can be ordered, go to the website www.shopwithscrip.com and find ‘retailers’ under the menu.

If you have a special item you wish to order, place the order with the gals at the Scrip table on Saturday night or Sunday morning. I will be able to take orders up until 12/18/16, but to assure delivery on time, I won’t special-order items needed for Christmas after that date.

Let this season be the start of regular Scrip use throughout the year. How about starting out with groceries, gas, or places you go and spend money regularly? You can spend what you normally would anyway, but the church will benefit. All Scrip-sellers can tell you how this works. We’d love to help get you started.

If you have questions about items on hand or any other Scrip-related question, don’t hesi-tate to call Brenda at 927-4682.
